Designed with a fully multicoated 8-element/5-group lens configuration, the Celestron Ultima Edge 24mm Flat Field Eyepiece 1.25"produces bright and clear views with crisp and sharp resolution across the wide 65° field of view—even at the extreme edges. The eyepiece's focal length produces a low magnification for wide-field observations of large deep-sky objects like nebulae and clusters or for observing the moon and planets without being distracted by excessive vibrations. This Ultima Edge has a 1.25" barrel that makes it compatible with popular diagonals, Barlows, and visual backs with standard threads for filters. A textured collar makes inserting and removing the eyepiece easy, and the combination of exceptional 29mm eye relief and fold-down rubber eyecup make it comfortable to use with or without eyewear.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it be used with Celestron NexStar 8SE 203mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope?

A: Yes, the Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm Eyepiece (1.25"), can be be used with the Celestron NexStar 8SE 203mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope.

Q: 2. Does this eyepiece have a T-thread to allow it to be directly mounted to a T-ring ? Can the front part be screwed off ?

A: My particular unit is very tightly screwed on and I do not want to force the eyepiece apart. There appears enough room for the M42 x .75 mm thread. That being said, I would contact Celestron directly for the attachment method and tread size

Q: 3. I have 130 eq ...can i used zoom lens

A: As long as you have 1.25 mount hole on your telescope (I believe 130eq is 1.25 ), you can use this one. I have 127eq and I absolutely love this eyepiece!

Q: 4. will this work with a Nexstar 130 SLT?

A: Yes, it will

Q: 5. Hi. Could I attach this to a Nikon D500? If so how can I do it? Thanks.

A: No, this cannot be attached to a DSLR

Q: 6. Can it fit on a celestron astromaster 114eq?

A: Yes this eyepiece can fit onto that scope since it takes a 1.25 Eyepiece opening.

Q: 7. Is this zoom eyepiece click-stop? If yes, how many increments?

A: No it does not there are 4 markings 8,12,16 24 it works great

Q: 8. Is this eyepiece compatible with the ETX-60AT telescope?

A: I have checked the Meade Manual available online. The telescope uses the standard 1.25 eyepieces. I would imagine that standard eyepieces are capable of achieving focus since they talk about buying extra eyepieces. With a 60mm 350mm focal length the 25mm and 9mm eyepieces supplied with the unit produce 14 and 39 magnifications and a 5mm would produce 70 magnifications. From my early experience with a longer focus refractor a practical absolute maximum magnification is twice the diameter of the front lens in millimetres (that is 120), providing the optics are good. What I am saying is, Don't expect to just keep adding magnification - the image will become very faint and fuzzy. Besides at such very high magnification strange things happen. The very small exit pupil projects floaters etc and granular 'things' in your eye directly onto your retina overlaying the 'real' image and becoming very annoying. The 5mm X-Cel has a nice wide 60 degree field, and at 70 magnification high power should prove a very satisfactory complement to the 25mm and 9mm if the telescope lens quality and optical system is good.Because the magnification is higher, the image will be fainter so it is more likely that you will use it for Moon, Planets, and Double Stars. Also it will require more care to locate objects. Still it should prove a good choice for higher magnification use.As you see from the illustration it will be bulkier and heavier but a price must be paid for the wide field and good eye relief.

Q: 9. Can you use filters with this eyepiece?

A: Yes, The 1.25” insert barrel is threaded to accept filters.

Q: 10. Some reviewers say, if you get this eyepiece with PF-65EDA, it doesn't fit into the provided case for the scope. Is that right?

A: The case included with the Pentax PF-65EDAII 65mm Spotting Scope was designed to be used with the open back or fully closed depending on the size of the eyepiece attach to the scope. You would not be able to fully closed the bag when attaching Pentax SMC 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece. The lenght of the case on the outer curve is 16.5''. The case has 2 zippers, 1 will give you access to the tripod mount. The second one will allow access to mount your eyepiece.

[24mm] This replaced the 24 mm eyepiece that came with my Celestron C5 127mm f/10 50x Spotting Scope and provides up to three times more magnification. It is just what was needed for pulling in really distant (5 miles or more) objects to view. It is as clear as the fixed lens and loses only a small amount of field of view; a great trade-off. It was also about half the price of the selection of lenses that Celestron sells and will be much more convenient than having to change lenses.

[24mm] I upgraded from the cheap stock eye pieces that my scope came with and this 15mm is my new go to ep. I also got the 10mm and the same applies: The fov is perfect, the eye relief is very comfortable (I don't wear glasses), and image quality is leaps and bounds better. The "flat field" feature is also pretty cool, a crisp image from edge to edge. I've never experienced a multi-hundred dollar top of the line eye piece, but I can't imagine how much better it can get than this. For around the $100 price range this is a phenomenal eye piece you'll be happy to have.

[65°] I purchased Celestron Nexstar 4se recently, which came with two eyepieces. I needed something universal to be able to quickly adjust without changing eyepieces constantly. This zoom one seems really great in quality and I just love the convenience factor of it so much that I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

[1.25"] Bought it after a lot of research for my 6SE. It is wonderful and cheaper than buying separate eyepieces for a beginner like me. Great build and comes with a carrying module.

[29.0 mm] I purchased this zoom eye piece for my ultra portable setup. It is a good quality eye piece especially at this price range. Also work very well with small solar scope such as Lunt LS50HA. I have a very similar but priced much higher Vixen LV 8-24 zoom. Frankly I can't see the difference between these two.
