Q: 10. Do the legs come out on their own (gravity) or dos the user have to open them manually (pull legs out)? Also, how good and easy are these twist locks? I prefer the clamp style, I fear these will take to long to adjust.

A: No current tripod should have legs that freely move; not only is it awkward, it can be dangerous to your fingers. This tripod has legs that stay in place and you need to move them. Twist or clamp; that is the external question. In the end it is a matter of personal preference. I find that pros tend to go with the twist. Today's twist locks are very quick, usually 1/2 turn or so and are not significantly slower than clamp locks. I also find that clamp levers get caught on every strap within a 10' radius. Miller is one of the high quality brands so you will find working with any of their products a pleasure.

[Carbon Fiber] The DS-10 is light, the head action very smooth, the tripod is quick to set up and tear down. Let the legs out gently, though. One of the coolest things about the DS-10 is how low it goes: there's just enough clearance so the leveling handle isn't on the ground. In that configuration, it looks like a three-legged spider. So you can easily get extremely low shots on a fluid head, and the rubber feet let you stick it in the middle of a long, expensive board room table without leaving a mark. Lack of a spreader makes them hard to sandbag, which is where lightness can cause trouble. We've rented DS-20's as well. Bigger, heavier, not quite as flexible but able to handle larger loads.

[3 Positions] For a compact tripod, I'm really pleased at the range of height I get (from hi-hat low, to very high). Easy for a one-man band. I don't miss the spreader. Fluid head is great for my approximately 20b FS7 rig.

[Fluid Head] Purchased these sticks in Feb 2022 along with the CX10 head. Great range in height. Very stiff at any setting. Love getting a 100mm set of sticks for less than 6 pounds. A little awkward raising the height with camera attached. I extend the bottom sections first almost all the way... then it is easier to do adjustments on the top section without bending down too much or holding the tripod low with risk of camera tip. If a large change is needed, it is easy to pop off the camera with the side load plate of the CX head, adjust and pop it back on. I considered the flow tech system for adjustability... but the 75mm Vinten or Sachtler were as much as the 100mm Miller. The 100 mm flow tech was almost double. I love not needing a spreader. Remarkably stable sticks... and there is just something about a pan with a 100mm head that can't be accomplished with a 75mm.

[Carbon Fiber] This thing is a beast. I can't get over how well it's designed. I have Bogen tripods that are twice the weight and seem flimsy. This thing is light and solid as a rock. The head is smooth as silk. I originally ordered this tripod because of it's ability to set low to the ground (so I could use it with my Indislider), but now I am replacing all my Bogen tripods with this beast. Bogen = a piece of junk compared to this rig. Worth every penny, trust me.

[Yes] This tripod system is excellent. I mainly shoot with a 5dmkII with rails, audio gear, follow focus, etc that totals to at least 20lbs and this tripod handles it all with ease. This is lightyears better than my previous Manfrotto tripods (which were also good...this is just much better). The head is solidly constructed and the fluid head is buttery. It extends as high as I will ever need (camera is well over my head, and I'm 6 foot), and the leg locking system is easy to use, even with a loaded tripod. Suprisingly solid for having no spreaders.

[Fluid Head] I use this tripod with my Canon 60D and camera accessories. The head can comfortably deal with a little weight over 10lbs, but not a ton more. Personally, I like the aluminum legs better than the carbon fiber. In a short time, the tripod has been in mud, rain, and it has worked great. Used the Scarlett on it a week ago and the weight was not an issue. Totally smooth pan and tilt. Great locks. Do yourself a favor and get more than one camera plate. This way you won't have to keep swapping it from one camera to another.

[3 Positions] Im a local filmer from Port Macquarie, Australia and let me say that the DS-10 Aluminum Tripod System is by far the best tripod iv ever experienced with its super smooth pan you cant even screw up on purpose. I give the tripod 100% but I think a simple dolly should be included half price if the tripod exceeds a certain amount maybe? Food for thought. But I Thank you for creating such a prime product!!!

[3 Positions] This is not a tripod package for a lightweight camera. So putting just a DSLR, no rails, cage, monitor, FF, Mattebox, etc.., on it is under-kill as this tripod really doesn't start to perform until there is weight upon the head. If your heaviest setup is under 10LBs then find a different tripod as you won't be happy with this as the head will be fighting itself when panning and the legs will lift up. The pan and tilt friction knobs will cause a shudder and squeak if you don't have enough weight upon the head when using them...however when weight of the proper range is put atop the tripod head, and the counterbalance is properly selected, the pan and tilt friction boost knobs do wonders at increasing the smooth motion. A good rule of thumb regarding the counterbalance selection switch is 12. If it's under 12 choose 1, if it's over twelve try 2. The legs seem well made and sturdy. This tripod can go very high and also very low...which is great for those dutch angles. This does very much seem like a tripod system you could take out into the field, forest, mountains and streams and come back happy with.
