Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this monopod come with a storage bag? I noticed this as part of the kit on amazon but I dont see it here. Thx!

A: Yes, the one I ordered did come with a bag but it is very wimpy.

Q: 2. Does this monopod work with Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods B&H # BEVT2 MFR # VT2? Thanks.

A: I have to agree with David F.'s response -- the Oben CTM-2500 doesn't have an available female threaded base to accept the 3-lag locking base. I suspect any threaded receptacle the monopod has is occupied by the extendable spike, which doesn't seem to be removable.

Q: 3. Is this too beefy for a c100 mii? Or would I be better off with Ace L?

A: I don't think its beefy. Once I got the balance right it works well with a DVX-200. So depending on your rig I think it will be fine. It's super smooth and not overly complicated. It kinda gives you that Ace L feel but in a smaller and lighter package which is simple to set sticks and shoot. It gives you the feel of a Ace L under a grand, you really can't go wong..or wrong rather :)

Q: 4. Can anyone measure the diameter of the smallest leg section ? Thanks

A: The diameter of the rod at the last (smallest section) is 3/4 inch. The rubber foot on the end of that rod is 7/8 inch in diameter.

Q: 5. Just bought this and the screw doesn't fit my Nikon D500. Do I need an adapter?

A: The screw on the platform is a reversible 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 thread. Loosen the screw, flip it over, and tighten it back into the platform. It'll now fit your D500! :)

Q: 6. can the spike in foot removeable or replace with other spike? thanks

A: The spike appears to be mon removable on this monopod. Unless used for a walking stick it should never have to be replaced.

Q: 7. are the legs solid or do they have plastic on metal like the Ace m?

A: they are good. just metal i believe :)

Q: 8. diameter?

A: Large shaft: 1.21875 Foam Rubber Grip on large shaft: 1.50 Camera Mount Plate: 2.375 Smallest shaft: .75

Q: 9. Is it me going blind, or does it not indicate the maximum height of this tripod?

A: This tripod will reach a range of 15 to 80".

Q: 10. Is Oben's QRA-R2 Quick Release Assembly compatible with The Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate with 1/4 -20 Screw and 3/8 Bushing Adapter is the replacement quick release plate for all heads that use the RC2 (3157N)

A: Unfortunately no, they are not compatible. They appear similar but are of different designs and dimensions.

[+90° to -75°] I use this for documentary filmmaking. The head is completely smooth and well built. The legs are very stable and easy to use.

[3 Positions] Im a local filmer from Port Macquarie, Australia and let me say that the DS-10 Aluminum Tripod System is by far the best tripod iv ever experienced with its super smooth pan you cant even screw up on purpose. I give the tripod 100% but I think a simple dolly should be included half price if the tripod exceeds a certain amount maybe? Food for thought. But I Thank you for creating such a prime product!!!

[Yes] Great tripod. Light. Secure lock. Could not ask for better. Like it better than Sachlers since I hate the spreader. Used big Manfrotto's in the past. No comparison. Own a Gitzo as well, which is close to Miller but still like Miller. Will buy Miller again if I need another one.

[Twist Lock] Use mostly when doing 5D video. Great movement on the head, only thing is a little more weight would make it a little better, probably would be best in the 8-16lb range.

[3 Positions] This thing is a beast. I can't get over how well it's designed. I have Bogen tripods that are twice the weight and seem flimsy. This thing is light and solid as a rock. The head is smooth as silk. I originally ordered this tripod because of it's ability to set low to the ground (so I could use it with my Indislider), but now I am replacing all my Bogen tripods with this beast. Bogen = a piece of junk compared to this rig. Worth every penny, trust me.

[Yes] The DS-10 is light, the head action very smooth, the tripod is quick to set up and tear down. Let the legs out gently, though. One of the coolest things about the DS-10 is how low it goes: there's just enough clearance so the leveling handle isn't on the ground. In that configuration, it looks like a three-legged spider. So you can easily get extremely low shots on a fluid head, and the rubber feet let you stick it in the middle of a long, expensive board room table without leaving a mark. Lack of a spreader makes them hard to sandbag, which is where lightness can cause trouble. We've rented DS-20's as well. Bigger, heavier, not quite as flexible but able to handle larger loads.

[+90° to -75°] I use this tripod with my Canon 60D and camera accessories. The head can comfortably deal with a little weight over 10lbs, but not a ton more. Personally, I like the aluminum legs better than the carbon fiber. In a short time, the tripod has been in mud, rain, and it has worked great. Used the Scarlett on it a week ago and the weight was not an issue. Totally smooth pan and tilt. Great locks. Do yourself a favor and get more than one camera plate. This way you won't have to keep swapping it from one camera to another.

[+90° to -75°] Have been a long time Bogen user looking for a good lightweight versatile tripod system. After seeing the DV20 in action at a videographers convention i was sold. Its rock solid even though I was used to a mid-level spreader. My first assignment was shooting a modeling segment and I loved the fact that I could get so low to the ground with this tripod.
