Equip your Dante audio network with high-performance 24-bit / 192 kHz digital I/O with the Focusrite RedNet D16R MkII, a rackmount 16x16 Dante digital audio interface offering flexible sample rate conversion, adjustable levels, and comprehensive remote control options for professional engineers in every environment from broadcast and touring applications to the studio to the dub stage.

With two DB25 connectors providing 16 channels of AES3 digital audio to and from the Dante audio network, the D16R MkII is ideal for bridging between digital consoles, power amplifiers, external AD/DA converters, other AES3-equipped audio equipment, and any Dante network. Primary and secondary Dante connectivity is available on dual locking etherCON ports.

In addition to the main AES3 inputs and outputs, the RedNet D16R MkII features stereo S/PDIF I/O on RCA coaxial jacks and stereo AES3 I/O on XLR jacks. To allow synchronization with a wide range of external sources and hardware, the interface includes BNC wordclock input and output ports and support for DARS (Digital Audio Reference Signal) through the XLR input.

The RedNet D16R MkII is fitted with two separate power supplies with auto-switchover capability to maintain reliable operation in the event of a failure. Plus, locking IEC inlets on the rear of the unit prevent unintended power cable disconnection at the interface. Power-supply status is indicated both remotely and on the front panel. Additionally, the interface features a rugged, roadworthy exterior that occupies just 1 RU of rack space.

A premium bonus is the Brainworx bx_console Focusrite SC channel-strip plug-in, a stellar digital emulation of the legendary and rare Focusrite Studio Console. Only 10 of the consoles were ever produced, but you can access its famed sound directly in your DAW.

The RedNet D16R MkII is a 16-channel bidirectional AES3 interface for Dante networks. The 1 RU rackmount device features individual input and output channel level controls, allowing for precise calibration and control of all input and output levels using RedNet Control software.

Featuring power supply and Ethernet redundancy with auto switchover, the RedNet D16R MkII can provide continued operation in the event of a failure at the main power and audio lines.

Various connection options make RedNet D16R MkII a flexible addition to any audio-over-IP system. A pair of DB25 multipin connectors (AES59 standard configuration) each connect eight channels of AES3 I/O into and out of the interface, while XLR and RCA ports enable two-channel AES3 and S/PDIF connections to be made.

Sample rate conversion on every input enables external equipment to operate at different sample rates, and DARS signals are accepted on the XLR connector. Wordclock I/O on BNC connectors allows synchronization to a house clock or from external equipment to the Dante network.

The interface boasts full operability with Focusrite RedNet and Red interfaces, plus all Dante devices from hundreds of manufacturers. Take advantage of remote routing and control using RedNet Control and Dante Controller software on a Mac or Windows computer.

LED indicators are presented on the front panel for PSU, network, sample rate, signal presence, and clock source status, keeping you informed of the interface's critical functions at a glance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this interface work with Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250ohm)? Does the interface have an amp or do I need a separate one to make the headphones work?

A: Yes, the Audient iD4 MKII Desktop 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface has a built-in headphone amplifier that will accommodate the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones without the need for a separate headphone amp.

Q: 2. How many of the inputs can be recorded simultaneously are are available inside a DAW?

A: You can record up to 18 mono channels at a time.

Q: 3. If there is no dedicated headphone volume knob, how do you control the headphone volume?

A: The Audient iD4 MKII USB-C Audio Interface (BH # AUID4MKII) features headphone volume control via the DAW or the big knob volume level controller.

Q: 4. will this work with protools 10?

A: Yes

Q: 5. Is this a new or refurbished unit?

A: This is a brand new product. All products purchased at B&H are brand new in the original factory box including packaging, all factory included accessories and factory warranty, unless otherwise stated to be USED, Refurbished or Demo.

Q: 6. Hi. How can I use this as a desktop interface. What extra gear do I need to buy to just be able to connect it to my Mac and use as a desktop interface. Thx.

A: This does not connect to your computer via USB like other interfaces. This runs on Dante, so you would need an unmanaged network switch like this one to be able to connect it to your computer. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1499551-REG/netgear_gs308_300pas_gs308_8_port_gigabit_ethernet.html

Q: 7. Could someone explain how they get 18 Inputs? At best I see 15, and 4 of those can only be used by 1-type of input or another on the front panel.

A: The optical input is ADAT. That counts as 8 inputs alone.

Q: 8. What is the round latency spec for each sample rate?

A: Roundtrip latency would be calculated by having an analog conversion and back again. The Focusrite RedNet PCIeNX Dante PCIe Dante Interface Card does not have any analog IO, so to measure roundtrip, it would need to be paired with another device to measure, which would also add to the latency time. Being that all analog IO has slightly different latency specs, Focusrite did not want to release a spec based on a specific analog IO’s latency spec along with the cards. This is why Focusrite uses the terminology 'ultra-low roundtrip latency'.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the ultranet output of the Midas 32c ?

A: thank you for your question. The ultranet output is only personal monitoring systems such as the Behringer P-16M. To use this interface you would need to get the dante expansion card B&H # KLDN32DANTE.

Q: 10. No reason it won't work with Adobe Audition... right?

A: The Focusrite Scarlett series interfaces work seamlessly with most DAW software. Adobe Audition should have no issues as well.

[AC Input] This has been a great way to get IEM outputs to backline musicians via Dante. The power over ethernet function is great so you aren't having to worry about a power supply. I have had no complaints from musicians.

[1 RU] This controller is pure genius, for the life of me I don't know how they pull it off. Partially by hijacking the custom mixes of your 4Pre or whatever, but there seems to be more going on than that.

At any rate this has transformed my studio. One, you get the great displays telling you at a glance both your routing and your metering. Two, the flexibility of it is out of this world. Eight input setups, 4 output, Cue mixes, headphone and no less than four talkback, not to mention the dimming, summing and other features. I've had the RED 4PRE for a number of years and never got a decent routing setup out of it - THIS simplifies the whole thing. Combined with Dante now I've got three computers routing to one master (4Pre), multiple Dante devices, include Bluetooth so I can monitor my phone or whatever. This has empowered my interconnected studio like none other, and I can do 12 channel ATMOS with it. And all digital and networked! All my other monitor controllers have been analog and don't hold a candle to this. It's worth converting your studio to RED just for this.

No real downsides. 32 channels maximum used for input and cue routing. We can't expect unlimited, but another 4 our 8 would have been perfect, perhaps Focusrite could come out with a interface with the FPGA chops for this? At any rate that's not really a negative, 32 should take care of you,

[11 ms] As I am upgrading my production machines to apple silicon, I was in need of a new high channel count Dante interface for my virtual soundcheck machine. This installed and configured with zero issues, recording 128 channels at 96k, also using prodcom for speech to text for talkback mics on an M1 Mac mini. Flawless. Highly recommend. The fact that Dante Controller is also able to utilize this as a NIC is a huge plus over the now obsolete Dante accelerator card.

[AC Input] I upgraded my iD4 to the MKII version, mainly to use the more reliable USB-C connection. I had seen some connection problems with the older unit. Besides that, I see improved sensitivity, and really low noise so I am happy with my purchase. I love the interface!

[AC Input] This isn't my first Focusrite. The quality, as always, is top notch. Easy to Set up and Use. The software to set up configuration was easy to use. I had a question at the time of set up and was surprised that Focusrite Support answered my call in less than one minute and answered my question immediately. You can't go wrong with this unit..

[11 lb] The iD4 is an upgrade from the Motu M2 being used previously. The depth of sound produced when replaying recordings and movies is spectacular. I've only recorded digital piano so far, looking forward to voice recording. Controls and dials are on point with the iD buttons extra functionality. Highly recommend.

[1 RU] This is the best option for monitor level and routing control with the Focusrite Red series interfaces. And, by extension, some control of their other Rednet Dante interfaces. It controls output options from mono all the way up to 7.1.4. With the added bonus of an assignable headphone out and talkback mic.
