The Miller CX8 SOLO-Q 75 Carbon Fiber 3-Stage Tripodis designed to accommodate a wide payload range with 16 steps of counterbalance. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance can all be set to zero, enabling even the lightest of cameras to be supported. Maxed out, this head is rated to support camera setups up to 26.4 pounds, suitable for small cinema cameras with rigs or medium sized ENG camcorders. Securing your camera or rig is easy. The sideload plate design enables you to simply drop in your camera without the alignment issues posed by rear-loading variations. The plate offers 2.4" of sliding range to balance your rig.

To survive fast-paced shooting environments, the CX8 is die-cast from a lightweight, yet durable metal alloy with composite polymers and precision ball-bearings for smooth mechanical operation. Even in harsh conditions, the CX8 will perform reliably. The base of the CX8 is a 75 ball for mounting to compatible tripods and grip equipment. An illuminated bubble level makes it easy to level the CX8 in dark environments. A pan handle with a 15.4" fixed length is included and a second rosette is incorporated for attaching an optional second pan handle.

Q: 1. Can I ship immediately if I place an order?

A: As of the time of this posting, December 3rd 2018, this product is in stock and ready to ship.

Q: 2. Will the Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech fit on this tripod?

A: You will just need a 75mm half ball adapter to use that head on this tripod. https://bhpho.to/31OOD4c

Q: 3. Hi! I plan to use this tripod with a Sachtler aktiv fluid head, but for that I need to make sure of the compatibility. There is a centered hole in the bowl where the head is mounted and I would like to know it's diameter. Could you please check it for me?

A: Yes. The following unit will adapt to the 75mm bowl drop.

Q: 4. I want to transport this tripod without the ball head in an international flight. What are the dimensions when completely fold, does it fit in a regular check-in bag?

A: Its folded/collapsed dimensions are 28" in length, with roughly a 8" diameter (including apex/spider). It might fit diagonally within a large check-in bag, but your results may vary based on luggage size, carrier restrictions, etc.

Q: 5. Does this work with Manfrotto 502HD Pro Video Head with 75mm Half-Ball?

A: Yes, the following spreader can be removed and replaced.

Q: 8. Is it me going blind, or does it not indicate the maximum height of this tripod?

A: This tripod will reach a range of 15 to 80".

Q: 9. How does this tripod hold up after long terme use? I've read the rubber feet fall off easily after a while. How about the locks, do they stay secure over time?

A: This is a good entry level tripod and will work as expected. If you have a long term project with anticipated hard use, you may wish to invest in a tripod meant for such use.

Q: 10. Do the legs slide out on their own or do you have to pull them out?

A: How many turns does it take to go from tight to loose enough for leg slide? Thanx!

[+90° to -75°] This is not a tripod package for a lightweight camera. So putting just a DSLR, no rails, cage, monitor, FF, Mattebox, etc.., on it is under-kill as this tripod really doesn't start to perform until there is weight upon the head. If your heaviest setup is under 10LBs then find a different tripod as you won't be happy with this as the head will be fighting itself when panning and the legs will lift up. The pan and tilt friction knobs will cause a shudder and squeak if you don't have enough weight upon the head when using them...however when weight of the proper range is put atop the tripod head, and the counterbalance is properly selected, the pan and tilt friction boost knobs do wonders at increasing the smooth motion. A good rule of thumb regarding the counterbalance selection switch is 12. If it's under 12 choose 1, if it's over twelve try 2. The legs seem well made and sturdy. This tripod can go very high and also very low...which is great for those dutch angles. This does very much seem like a tripod system you could take out into the field, forest, mountains and streams and come back happy with.

[Yes] I bought this a few years back to use with my Panasonic HVX200a. Works like a dream. I do a lot of short form documentary production, and this Miller is perfect. The carbon fiber construction indeed makes the unit very light. I carried it while backpacking around Western Europe for a month, and it was fantastic. Very quick to setup and breakdown. I also like how low to the ground I can get with the concentric leg angle locks. The bag is very high quality as well. All around it is a very rugid product, which is perfect for my documentary productions. Those Australians can sure make a tripod. At this price point, this Miller is your best choice.

[Yes] Use mostly when doing 5D video. Great movement on the head, only thing is a little more weight would make it a little better, probably would be best in the 8-16lb range.

[Fluid Head] Great tripod. Light. Secure lock. Could not ask for better. Like it better than Sachlers since I hate the spreader. Used big Manfrotto's in the past. No comparison. Own a Gitzo as well, which is close to Miller but still like Miller. Will buy Miller again if I need another one.

[75 mm Half Ball] I use this tripod with my Canon 60D and camera accessories. The head can comfortably deal with a little weight over 10lbs, but not a ton more. Personally, I like the aluminum legs better than the carbon fiber. In a short time, the tripod has been in mud, rain, and it has worked great. Used the Scarlett on it a week ago and the weight was not an issue. Totally smooth pan and tilt. Great locks. Do yourself a favor and get more than one camera plate. This way you won't have to keep swapping it from one camera to another.

[Yes] For a compact tripod, I'm really pleased at the range of height I get (from hi-hat low, to very high). Easy for a one-man band. I don't miss the spreader. Fluid head is great for my approximately 20b FS7 rig.
