The Fujinon MK-R 18-55mm T2.9 Cine Lens Canon RF Mountis a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for Canon RF-mount cameras with Super35-sized sensors, mirrorless cameras such as the Canon C70, and cinema cameras such as the RED KOMODO. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine-style lens accessories. The focus ring features 200° of rotation, which gives room for precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.

The lens is color-matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the MK, HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front diameter allows use with many cine-style matte boxes via the use of optional step-up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 2.2 pounds, which is light for a long cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for cameras with a Canon RF mount, so it has a short flange focal distance that can vignette at small apertures between 18 and 20mm, but the lens allows for flange focal distance adjustment, so you can fine-tune it to the camera using the lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens capture in 4K?

A: The Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens is designed to resolve 4k resolution.

Q: 2. Will this work on A7S?

A: The Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 Lens (Sony E-Mount) is a Super35/APS-C format lens. The Sony a7 line of cameras are all full frame. However, all are also Super35/APS-C capable. So the answer is yes you can use this on your a7S but only in crop mode.

Q: 3. Can this will come up with MTF mount

A: We are not aware of an MFT Mount version of this lens. We are also not aware of a way to adapt an E-Mount lens to an MFT Mount camera.

Q: 4. Does this work with the Canon R5C ?

A: This lens would work on the Canon R5C but it will have to be in Super 35 mode.

Q: 5. I have E-mount lens,can I change mount?

A: You cannot mount an RF mount lens on a EF camera. There is not enough room to make such an adapter.

Q: 6. Is there any way to use Circular Filters with this lens? I can't tell if the front end is threaded (but even if it is) no one seems to make 85mm step down rings or 85mm circular filters.

A: Hi,YES, there is a 82 mm thread on this Fujinon MK 18-55mm which enable mounting proper diameter circular filters.Christian Lemasson.

Q: 7. During testing was there any distortion in the lens at any range? Pillowing, etc.

A: This is a phenomenal lens that will be a delight to use on the Sony FS7 or FS5. Any working pro will appreciate the build quality, the overall image quality, the fact it is parfocal, that it has little flare, little breathing, is straight tracking, is so light, has cine gears, and that it is, for what it is, cheap. Now in order to do all this great stuff and for such a great price, there are some compromises such as barrel and pincushioning. If you need to render rectilinear objects critically, then you will be restricted to middle focal lengths. But in the vast majority of shooting situations such as recording people faces, this will not be an issue. Overall, Fuji has given E mount shooters a great gift. Q: 8. Image stabilization capabilities using Sony FS7?

A: Sorry, but neither the MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens or the Sony FS7 have image stabilization capabilities.

Q: 9. What is the f-stop equivalent of this lens?

A: According to Fujifilm: F-No = F2.75 and T-No = T2.9If you are trying to compare the depth of field equivalent to full frame 35mm, then you would multiply the focal length and the f-stop by your camera's crop factor (about 1.5-1.6 for Super35 sensors depending on manufacturer). Assuming 1.5X crop, this would be approximately equivalent to a 27-82.5mm f/4 lens on a full frame 35mm sensor.

Q: 10. Are these lenses parfocal?

A: Yes, if this lens is properly calibrated it is capable of parfocal zooming. You can learn more about this lens on our Explora website. https://bhpho.to/2QSTVaV

[18 to 55mm] I bought both the 18-55 and the 50-135. I got exactly what i paid for and I am pleased. They are both excellent lenses, they have their shortcomings but they aren't $14k Angenieux lenses either. They are great budget lenses that give expected results.

[Canon RF] I really believe this is a difficult lens to review.... Hits the price point where DSLR shooters are interested, but also experienced DoP's using Cabrio's and Large PL cinema zoom lenses are interested too. If you're use to SLR glass, this can introduce you to the convenience of a cinema built lens. A DoP would say this lens fall short of its higher end accessors.

Using lenses in both production realms, I found a great nitch for this lens. This lightweight Fuji works perfectly on my Movi Pro paired with an FS5 and F55 (with Duclos adaptor.) Extremely sharp glass. Would say my only complaint is that it does flare quite a bit. Have to control that.

Now with the native E-mount Sony Venice released, I'd love to see them release a full frame version of these lenses. Keeping them lightweight and cost effective would eat up that market space. Nice work Fuji.

[9] I prefer manual lens and do not us SLR glass since it is not parfocal. This lens is parfocal, low cost, sharp, smooth, light, 2.9, and 18-55 is perfect for a lot of my shooting.
Just used on a two day job and with FS7 using SLOG which I always use. The results are stunning.
If you own a FS7 buy it you won't be disappointed.
Next for me is the 50-135 and the 18-110 for handheld work. Match those with my Dulcos 11-16PL and I have a great set.

[5.02 lb] Ive had this lens for a couple weeks and so far so good!  Its gearing is a bit torque heavy than expected but I guess I prefer this to no torque since the focus pulls and zooms will be less whip lash fast on the types of projects I will be using this lens on.  Otherwise, I love the feel of the barrel, the 2 lbs / 1kg is light and even wide open at t2.9 the images are perfectly usable. I will mostly ride this at T4 though.  Love having the clickless aperture and its parfocal ability. I can confirm that the breathing is minimal, specially compared to still lenses.  A winner through and through. If your an owner operator using the Sony ecosystem, then invest in this lens!

[82 mm] I have two of these as I purchased a second for a second Komodo. The look is very cinematic with a very nice balance of sharpness. Not overly sharp and not overly soft. Just a good balance between the two. The macro function and back focus ring are absolute bonuses. This lens is very fast to dial in and not overly heavy. The best thing about using this with the 50-135 is that they are both identical weight and size which makes switching between them a breeze.
