Pattern locations have also have been increased from 10 to 16. The new generation of volca sample comes with a brand new sound library that has been carefully curated to fit the needs of all music producers and beat makers everywhere. This great selection of 150 samples will take your production to the next level, making it possible to make tracks on the fly with sounds that will fit every genre, including recent ones such as Future bass, Trap, Lo-Fi hip hop, and many others!

Q: 2. Ist IT true that IT can be USB powered ?

A: Yes, the Arturia MicroFreak Hybrid Analog/Digital Synthesizer with Advanced Digital Oscillators can be powered by USB.

Q: 3. if i load a sample into the volca, is it permanently there? like, could I unplug it from my computer, take it on the go, and then I have that sound in it with me?

A: This unit has 200 sample memory slots, and should store then on the unit itself.

[0.83 lb (377 g)] I’ve owned Synthesizers since 1972. I currently own quite a few from several manufacturers, Behringer, Roland, ASM, Elektron, Modal, Teenage Engineering and Korg (Volca FM 2 and Sample 2) to name a few.

10 years in the marketplace this Volca Keys has really held up to the test of time.

Marketed as an “Analogue” Synthesizer in reality the control signals are generated digitally with the CPU using a 10-bit DAC giving it near-analogue resolution. So this is a Subtractive Hybrid unit; an analogue sound engine with digital control so dial tweaks and note info can be recorded into the sequencer/accessed over MIDI. By the way, this is a good thing not a negative at all.

It’s a pretty easy to use, straightforward, with no menu screen, pretty much a dial per function arrangement. Great for beginners but powerful enough for experienced users.

I did notice notice that some dials are translucent and some solid. As a rule I found the solid dials' movements can't be sequenced, but the translucent dials can be sequenced and are backlit red plus flash to denote which parameters are active or recorded in a 'motion sequence' (motion sequencing captures dial movements into the sequencer).  The tempo dials flash in time with the internal/MIDI-clocked tempo and each key/sequence step has its own LED too, convenient for letting you know what's happening at a glance within complex sequences
.
It has 3 sawtooth wave oscillators & produces great upfront three-note chords, dirty lead/bass lines, ring modulated sounds and detuned unisons. It also features octave/fifth mono modes, a versatile tempo-syncable analogue-style delay that does reverbs/bit-crushing (from the Monotron Delay) freeform unquantised flux recording and 1/1, 1⁄2 and 1⁄4 tempo modes.

It uses the great MiniKORG700s filter. The LFO has 3 waveforms: sawtooth, square & triangle which make for some great modulation variety.
The Volca Keys really packs a lot in, it's very versatile and a true value at such a low cost.

[1.71 lb] What a great little synth and it's priced right.Very versatile and with the wealth of tutorials available even a synth noob like me can jump in and start making interesting noise.I love it.B H had the best price around.

[0.83 lb (377 g)] Wow! I’ve had this drum machine for just a few hours and already I can tell I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this machine is capable of. There is so much this machine can do, it’s a shame to call it just a drum machine. It’s really a drum machine and a synthesizer. The synth engine is really, really incredible with multiple areas of sound manipulation. The step sequencer is intuitive and responsive. There’s not one thing I can say that’s negative about this synth! It’s perfect.

[0.83 lb (377 g)] You basically get a three voice analog synth with easily accessible modulation features that syncs with the other Volcas and runs on batteries.

It does tend to tear through batteries in my experience but that goes for all the Volcas and you can always plug it in.

[1.71 lb] LOVE MY VOLCAS! GREAT PRICE, EASY TO USE! I started with the KORG Volca Beats, and quickly added the Volca Keys, then the Volca Bass. I love the way they sync. I also like using knobs and manual/mechanical manipulation, which is part of the fun of the Volca series: twirling oscillators and noise filters in real time. Build quality is decent (particularly for the money), and these devices are super-easy to use. The analog tones are versatile: fat, warm and spooky/spacey as you'd want them to be. Watch the YouTube tutorials for some great demonstrations of the capabilities of these units- Hearing is believing!

[0.83 lb (377 g)] The Korg Volca Keys is a fantastic sounding analog poly synth even if it were more expensive. This can really get pretty fat too. I love the Volca Keys so much that I made a sample library with it using motion recording and doing two passes of each sound to give me stereo imagining of the LFO phase. If there's one thing that's greatest about it, it's the filter. Korg filters are the best and this filter, based on the miniKORG 700S, is no exception. The different oscillator modes give it a wide range of sounds and one of my favorite features of this is the pitch envelope. The pitch envelope just really sets it apart from synths lacking such control. I've used this with its sequencer and that's totally fun for DAWless jams. I'm now also enjoying using it in sampled form. Every parameter is motion recordable except oscillator mode & resonance and you can motion record all other parameters without limit. I hope to always have a Volca Keys and I just know I'll only ever get rid of it if Korg comes out with a Volca Keys 2.

[1.71 lb] I've been using the Volca Sample and it's great... but sometimes you JUST want to play with a siloed drum machine. There are SO many settings/parameters to control/change each instrument. Loving this so far and can't wait to make some solid EBM music with it.

[1.71 lb] The Korg Volca Kick is a fantastic and beefy analog percussion/bass module which, while limited, completely delivers. First off I love Korg so much more than Moog for its filters but specifically for its MS20 filter. This Volca takes the MS20 filter and puts it in kick form. I absolutely love the completely analog tones that come out of this thing. It is limited but what it does do it does so well. Everyone needs a solid kick for the foundation of any great track. This delivers in spades. I recommend slowing down your attack time to take away any clickiness to your kick. This will sound more natural. Also I recommend sampling your kick tone and using your Volca Kick sample in your sampler or DAW of your choosing. This way you get consistent phase interplay between this and other samples. Always check you phases. Especially with the kick, a random analog start phase to your sound will make the body of your track breathe in an undesirable way. The Volca Kick can also be used as a bass synth and, while I haven't done this yet, I'm sure when I get around to it I'll love it as well.

This thing is a power house and I plan on collecting all of the Volcas
Great thing to keep me busy
