Styled in a raw finish, Genelec 8030C is a single 2-way active studio monitor designed to provide accurate mix referencing for audio engineers, musicians, and producers in project studios, small control rooms, or mobile setups. It features 100W of Class-D amplification driving a 5 1/8” woofer and 3/4” metal-dome tweeter, producing a frequency response of 47 Hz to 25 kHz.

A proprietary waveguide enhances imaging while the bass reflex port extends the low-frequency response. The aluminum enclosure is shaped to minimize diffraction. It supports a balanced input via an XLR 3-pin connector. Room compensation options include high- and low-frequency adjustments. There is a selectable power-saving mode that enables automatic power up/down via a signal-sensing circuit.

The 8030C offers multiple mounting options including threaded holes for compatibility with mic stands, OmniMount brackets.

The 8030 C comes with an Iso-Pod isolation stand.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. DOES IT HAS ACCURATE SOUNDING

A: Yes. The 8331A SAM studio monitor is designed for professional monitoring applications that require precision and accuracy. Using Genelec's SAM technology, Smart Active Monitors have several parametric notch and shelving filters that can be tuned automatically using the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software to exactly compensate for colorations generated by room acoustics. This enables SAM monitors to sound neutral and achieve accurate stereo imaging in all acoustical environments.

Q: 2. This item shows up when filtering for AES inputs. But that seems incorrect. Does it have AES?

A: This unit does not include AES inputs. AES inputs are available on the 8330 and larger.

Q: 3. The pictures don't show an XLR or 1/4" input jack, but the specs say there is one...where is it?

A: The XLR-1/4" combo jack is not shown in the photos we have posted. It is located on the back of the speaker, on the lower right side. I was able to find a photo on Neumann's website which shows the XLR-1/4" combo jack labeled as #14: https://static-neumann.s3.amazonaws.com/img/3060/x2_desktop_KH80DSPAG_Features.jpg

Q: 4. Did Rokit solve the black goo of death problem? I have a pair of Rocket 6s that are self destructing because of this goo.

A: KRK has not formally acknowledged the Black Goo Issue.

Q: 5. Can the monitors be fastened to the stands? If so, what is the fastening method, and is everything necessary included with the entire package?

A: You'll need the 8020-408 Stand plates to fasten the 8020s to stands. The stand plates must be attached to a stand with 3/8" threading. The stands in this bundle do not have male 3/8" threading when the mounting plate is removed, and would be unable to have the stand plate attach. I've included a link to the stand plate for you. https://www.genelec.com/accessories/8020-408-stand-plate

Q: 6. is there a right and a left version ?

A: No there are not left and right versions. The word twin stands for the two 5 woofers on the speaker.

Q: 7. correct input setting?

A: The filter setting may be applied depending upon the specific needs of the room/set-up. There is no generic recommended setting.LF EQ (4-Position Selector): -9, -3, 0, +1 dBHF EQ (3-Position Selector): -1, 0, +1 dB

Q: 8. Are the woofer surrounds foam or butyl rubber? Has anyone found a pro review of these FX50 speakers?

A: Fluid Audio does not indicate what material the cone is held in place with, but, when you zoom in on the images is looks like foam. There are links to a few reviews on Fluid's website: https://www.fluidaudio.com/reviews

Q: 9. Is this a good monitor for everyday use on a computer with built-in sound card and 1/8" to dual XLR splitter cable?

A: The Genelec 8020D Studio Monitor (Producer Finish) is an excellent choice for everyday monitoring, and it can be used with your computer's built-in sound card if an audio interface or monitor controller is not an option.

Q: 10. Are these Mackie HR824mk2 monitors sold as a pair or individuals?

A: The Mackie HR824mk2 monitors are sold as individual units.

[3 kHz] Just marvelous! Crystal clear. Loud enough to blow the house down. Too bad they’re unaffordable for most of the musicians I know…!

[13.395 lb] this is like you buy it and last for about 25 years, and the used market value are still giving you back the difference, if you hesitated this is a to go

[Active 2-Way] The sound you are getting for your money with these is spectacular. If there's any downside it's that they can sound phenomenal with the right listening position and maybe not quite as phenomenal if you site somewhere else. The vertical alignment is particularly noticeable. Luckily the rubber foot makes it easy to adjust the vertical angle, not something you are going to get from most monitors or bookshelf speakers that are in prismatic cases.

The only other slight con may be some hiss if you stick your ear right in the tweeter, but if you sit a meter away you can't hear it. I turned the sensitivity all the way down and that also reduced the hiss. With pro-level sources (my reference level is +13dBu) you don't need the gain these speakers offer.

[Aluminum] I have 2 pairs now, they are great products, designed for the pro, the good thing about Genelec is the used market value are very high, so it is also a good investment

[Raw Silver] These small monitors are tiny but produce very high levels with low distortion and great clarity. Very easy to carry in the bag specific to the model. These are really incredible for the size! I have Focal Twins in the main studio and these in an auxiliary room. The white model is also beautiful and takes very little space on a small desktop.

[Raw Silver] I bought these for my small home office. The headline is that these speakers sound close to perfect. Genelec is one of the few companies that provides accurate measurements of their speakers. These measurements have been validated from third parties. The 8030c model measures almost perfectly flat from about 50 Hz to 20 kHz. Horizontal dispersion is also near perfect with smooth downward sloping response. This means that reflected sound will not introduce tonal imbalance if you're listening non near field. It also means that you can equalize these speakers to whatever response you prefer. There are a few minor downsides. First, low bass has significant distortion at high volumes. This is just physics: volume will always be limited by enclosure size and driver diameter. If you use a subwoofer like I do (crossed with 24db slope at 80Hz) and use them in a relatively small room this issue goes away. Second, vertical dispersion is not as good as horizontal. You need for the tweeter to point to ear level at the listening location. Luckily the bottom mount makes this easy. If you want better vertical dispersion you should consider the more expensive coaxial models like the 8331. For my case this doesn't matter.

If you want to research these further just google them. A popular science-based audio review site has these speakers #1 among around 100 tested, if you use them with a subwoofer. They compute a suite of measurements and run these through a preference model developed at Harmon that takes this data and predicts listener preference in a blind speaker test. The model explains 86% of listener preference variance.

Anyway, these are some of the best speakers around and I highly recommend them.

[Aluminum] Perhaps shameful, but I don't use these to monitor. I just wanted something for a second (desktop) system that would be good enough for me to give up head phones for general listening, and keep me from a frustrating return. I considered these for several months before making the deal at B&H. Maybe overkill, but I'm a former musician, and I know correct timbre, distortion effects, etc., and that's what I expect from playback. I've had these for six months. I run them with the desktop bass roll-off, and I have no complaints; only praise. The detail, accuracy and lack of fatigue means they get a lot of use. I just upgraded my DAC, and I can say that these monitors, like any real transducer, are very responsive to better source electronics. The driver grilles are a necessity, IMO, and contributed to my decision to go with Genelec over Focal, or the Gene 040's, as did the auto-off feature. This is just a great product, and, like most great products, comes at a commensorate price. Still considering a sub option, as a sub always enlarges the apparent sound field of a near field, or any smaller-driver speaker system, in a (usually) spectacular fashion. I can't imagine anyone not being satisfied with the designed capabilities of this monitor.

[Active 2-Way] I bought a pair of these to use with a guitar amp simulator. They sound great and allow for getting the amplifier and effects tone without having to crank up the volume to concert levels.

[3 kHz] Upgraded from 8040A with auto stand by feature. Practically the same. Very sturdy. Great for tracking (recording) and editing but not for mixing (as with any near-field out there)
