[0.15 lb] I shoot video at events and concerts, recently mostly with photo-first cameras like a Sony A7 and A9, with an external monitor/recorder (Atomos Ninja V). The Sony FZ100 battery only lasts about 2.5 hours, much less if used to record internally. An external USB batter only provides about half the power needed by the Sony.

The dummy batter adapter replaces the FZ100 in the camera. The camera displays a warning after a few minutes, which goes away once cancelled. I have found no excessive heating nor any other deleterious effects using this device.

I use Vari-Zoom NP1 or Anton Bauer video batteries for power. Both have D-Tap ports. They give me the freedom to operate out of reach of line power - all day if necessary.

[20" / 51 cm] This is a key part of my compact rig with the Sony Fx3. I can run the camera for 8 hrs straight. The base attachment gives my rig nice weight for handheld shots. The LCD display is very useful to track the battery life. Takes an hour or so to charge with the included charger. The USB and multiple p-tap outputs allow me to connect my Atomos monitor as well if I feel like eliminating one more battery from my rig (the Atomos battery). AB makes incredible batteries and I just bought a second one for my audio recorder.

[20" / 51 cm] I was filming a series of talking heads with my FX3. We were on a roll and almost exhausted my last Sony battery. I used the Anton/Bauer on my last shoot, ran the entire time with hours to spare, and I didn't worry once. Peace of mind! I also travel to India yearly and this will pack nicely into my coat pocket. Not much clean electricity in the village, so no more charging worries like last year. Worth the investment.

[7.4 V] I like the quality of Anton Bauer products. Like everyone else, this is also resistant.

[7.4 V] I use the Watson D-Tap Dummy Battery with our Sony FX3 and a7siii and it makes longer shoot days a breeze.

On days when we are doing nonstop interviews, this adapter shines. I can usually get through the day with one v-mount battery vs 3-4 OG batteries. It is a time saver on set for sure. I've used it on 2-3 shoots thus far and I haven't had any issues.


I can see this being amazing once I get one of those block cage rigs for the fx3. Overall, I'm impressed.
