Once a Sigma Art, Contemporary, or Sports line lens is connected, you can use the Sigma Optimization Pro software to configure focus settings and update lens firmware.

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style.

If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are available: three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus; the ability to constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits; and three Optical Stabilizer modes to suit the manner in which you are shooting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Sigma 50-500 HSM lens require firmware updates?

A: Unfortunately, this dock is only compatible with the newer Art, Contemporary or Sports series lenses from Sigma with a Nikon F mount.

Q: 2. Can a Sigma Dock be used with a Tamron Lens?

A: No , only with limited amount of Sigma lenses

Q: 3. I'm a little confused about the lens/mount requirements. I have a Nikon D610 camera and am going to purchase the Sigma contemporary 150-600mm lens for my Nikon camera. Which dock do I purchase...the one fpr sigma lenses or another for (Nikon) F-Mount lenses??

A: Chester,For your D610 (or any other Nikon) you will need the USB Dock for Nikon F mount. If you are using Windows 7 Pro make sure the dock and lens communicate properly as soon as you receive it. Mine does not recognize the lens. B&H sent a second USB dock with the same results. I contacted Sigma who recommended I send the lens and dock together in to them to test. I did and they said it tested out fine and the problem must be with my computer (they suspected the antivirus software). I tried it with the antivirus disabled with the same results. I updated all the drivers for the chipset, LAN and USB devices and still got the same results. My GPS, weather station and all other USB devices work fine. I'm keeping the dock so if I have access to another computer at one point I can try to get it working.

Q: 4. I have the lens dock ... loaded the Sigma software ... was able to check for firmware updates for the 3 Sigma lenses I have it works with/35 art/24/105 art/150-600 c. Thing is, unless I missed it, NOT ONE WORD in the instructions, or on the software on the PROCEDURE for fine tuning. Did I miss it? How is it done - step by step, anyone. Or where to find the PROCEDURE for fine tuning the autofocus.

A: The Sigma dock will allow you to update the firmware of a lense and to set auto-focus finetuning for multiple distances and, in the case of zooms, multiple focal lengths. The settings you enter are written to the lens, so it will have to be recalibrated if you use it on a different camera. The dock does not have a way to test the accuracy of your lens' auto-focus. For that, you need to buy something like the SpyderLensCal calibration tool or use a diy setup.

Q: 5. Would it work with the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens? is this lens updatable?

A: No, the 17-50mm is not compatible with the dock.

Q: 6. Does the USB dock work with Windows 10?

A: Yes, the dock works with Windows 10.

Q: 7. I have a Sony a6500 with a Sigma 150-600mm lens. Is there a dock that will work with this lens?

A: The Sigma USB Dock for Sony A-Mount Lenses is only compatible with your Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG lens if the lens have a dedicated mount to Canon EF, Canon EF-M, Leica-L, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sigma SA, or Sony A (DSLR cameras). TYou could only attached those lenses if you were using an adaptor. If you are connecting your lens directly to the camera mount, you own a Sony E mount lens. At this Sigma has not yet realease a dock station for Sony E mount.

Q: 8. I have the Sigma 150-600mm lens for Nikon. I've taken pictures of the moon before that were tack sharp. Now tonight, I put the lens on, focus locked in on camera, take the shot on a tripod, and self timer, and images are blurry, not in focus at all. Will this dock help?

A: Based on the time and date you posted this question, there was a lot of smoke in the atmosphere due to the forest fires in the west. Chances are that smoke contributed to the blur. I would recommend testing the lens again on a clear night (although the moon did look really cool last night). But also the Sigma Dock will allow you to calibrate the focus with your lens as well as update the lens firmware and change the focus settings.

Q: 9. Does this work with the Sigma 150-500 lens

A: This dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses featuring a Nikon F lens mount. It is not compatible with theSigma 150-500 lens( B&H # SI150500N Mfr # 737306)

Q: 10. Is this dock compatible with Sigma macro 105 f2.8 ex dg os hem lens for D7200 dslr ?

A: Unfortunately not. This dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses.

[0.435 lb] When I was just using micro adjustments, in camera. I found that things changed from close up to far . I didn't need it as much micro adjustments. At far as i needed close up. I picked up a Autofocus Calibration Aid. That when i found out what was going on. I was inputting micro adjustments ever time i want in for a close up . this got old fast . the USB Dock has Fixed this . i can hit focus ever time at F1.4 . close up through out the 4 zones . The software program is easy to use. Install was simple . I don't like the fact. It look's to see if the firmware. Is up to date, ever time you dock the lens .It would be nice if had a setting look only once a day .My 35 mm has 4 focus zone's to edit. Take picture put on dock wait for the firmware is up to date.edit zone take picture wait for firmware is up to date. now edit. I think you get the point now moveing on . in the software. Editing the zone's. selecting the zone... Ya i scrached my head a little on that part . To make it simple Click the 0 under the red line , in the zone . You want to edit.. very simple once you know were to click ! Autofocus Calibration Aid, you will need this .To see what your doing. So the question's Dose it work ? YES it dose ! Is it worth the money ? YES it is ! Is it easy to use ?once you know were to click . YES it is . Any thing you would change ? Yes looking to see if the lens is up to date ! Can we say annoying ? YES WE CAN!

[0.435 lb] I am primarily a bird photographer using a Nikon D3300. I had tried the competitors 600mm lens and it was both soft and slow, I purchased a Sigma 150-600mm C because of the Dock. It worked great - I was able to get a firmware update that helped the AF focus faster, and was able to micro-calibrate the lens to achieve sharp photos. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

[0.435 lb] You will need this if your Sigma lenses need adjustments. My a-mount Sigma 24-105mm was a bit front-focus out of box at 70mm and 105mm so I had to use it to make adjustments. The good thing was it came with the lens for free, part of the reason I grabbed deal as soon as it appeared.

[0.435 lb] This is a great way to keep your camera lenses updated also you don't have to worry about compatibility issues with future camera bodies. The USB dock with the optimization pro software is very easy to download to a pc from the Sigma website to calibrate the lens quickly. Depending on the lens you use optimization is your choice. This is one of the reasons I chose to go with Sigma lenses. This will make buying a camera lens from another manufacturer extremely difficult.

[0.435 lb] I shoot with a Sony Alpha 65 that does not have a microadjustment focus feature, so I was very glad to be able to get this to use with my Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Dc Hsm Art Lens. This also allows for many more adjustments than an in camera adjustment would, it really makes a world of difference.

[0.435 lb] The dock came with the Sigma 24-105mm lens I bought as a packaged deal. My copy was a bit off at focusing at around 70mm and 105mm. The focus plane falls short of the target by a large margin. This is when the dock comes in real handy. After some adjustments (by trial and error), now my lens is tack sharp at these two focus lengths.

[0.435 lb] It was super simple to use as long as you have a set up to accurately measure the distance of your focusing. Easy learning curve via online resources and helped me get the results I was looking for. Some lenses may be pretty close from the factory while others may be super off. This product at least allowed me to get the results I need without having to send it back to Sigma.
