[0.02 lb] This is a flat lens cap like what is on the new fuji 23mm f/2 lens. After trying that lens and lens cap, I did some research to see if there was something similar for the fuji 56mm f/1.2 and discovered this. Why is it better? With the original rounded lens cap on the 56mm there was often a doubt as to whether it was seated completely. One side would be completely in, but the other would be just barely hanging on, and then the whole thing could easily pop off. Not sure from a mechanical perspective how the flat designed lens avoids this problem, but it does. It just seems to pop into the deepest thread of the lens, every time. I think maybe the trick is in available surface to push the cap in. On the rounded lens caps, you fingers are simultaneously squeezing the raised ridges together to compress the cap, and also trying to press in on those same points to push the cap into the lens, and as you release the ridges it is somewhat intuitive to pull away from the cap, thereby pulling part of it back out of the lens. On the flat lens cap, your fingers have more surface area to press against the lens cap, even when releasing the compression spring. Hey, I'm not an engineer. Do I know why a glass of water quenches thirst? No, but I know it works. 5
