Vienna Symphonic Library Big Bang Orchestra: Phoenix Pitched Solo Percussion is a virtual instrument with a library consisting of pitched solo instruments in the categories of timpani, mallets, bells, and gongs. Derived from the premium Synchron Series libraries Synchron: Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II, these assorted instruments can be used to add distinctive pitched percussive accents to your tracks for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

Phoenix includes a timpani, glockenspiel, xylophone, and vibraphone. It also comes with tubular bells, plate bells, and Burma gongs. All instruments were recorded in situ— positioned on their ideal spot in the large hall at Synchron Stage Vienna—and played with the most commonly used articulations and beaters.

In addition to overhead microphones, Decca Tree, and surround mics, the instruments were isolated during the recording sessions with close microphones. This gives you more control and more creative options when mixing your sound using the included Synchron Player's internal mixer.

The software is compatible with Mac and Windows and operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats. Phoenix integrates perfectly with every module in the BBO series. It is also a great addition to the BBO percussion ensemble modules including Dorado, Fornax, Quasar, and Eradinus.

A: Speakers are daisy chained with cat5 cables so they can be made nearly as long as you'd like, cables aren't included however.

Q: 9. Does this fit the Crest CKi series power amplifier?

A: The Crest CKi series uses barrier strip and 4-pin Phoenix connectors, so the Hosa Technology Phoenix 3-Pole Female Connector would not be a match.

Q: 10. ow many in pack ???

[Yes] I am very satisfied with this product. It is just a table on a stand, but it is designed (or so it seems) to be unusually adjustable (in terms of height) and doesn't seem to get in the way with bulking hardware. Note that it does not tilt, if you require that feature for uneven and changing stages. I think this is best suited for studio applications, which is what I am using it for. 5

[Yes] This is my seventh virtual piano. See my review of the Bösendorfer also by VSL — this is just as supremely recorded and I prefer the Steinway sound. It's hard to see how anyone will ever do any better than this. There are 10 different microphone positions (plus the room mix which incorporates several of them in the standard library; I think the full library gives added richness). I use eight of them (not the Main or the main-C) and the plate reverb at 30% which I like better than the algorithmic reverb or the delay. If you can't afford the full, the standard will still be superior to anything else out there. 5

[Standard] Lots of articulations that play well together. I also find the synchron player easier/faster to use than Vienna's older Vienna Instrument player or Kontakt based sample sets. Note that Elite sits somewhere between Chamber and Pro/I orchestra in terms of number of strings. I find that the number of strings in the Pro/I orchestra is enough that you lose some of that sense of 'bow on string'. With Elite you still hear some of that 'bow on the string'. Layering Elite on Pro is also really useful. 5

[Percussion] One of the great things about MOTU Symphonic Instruments is that it runs on G4 processor, and even on 256MB of RAM. Consequently, on the even the cheapest of the modern laptops (just like my 2MB Mac Air Intel i5) it works smoothly and loads all the instruments instantly. To me it's the best thing ever to run software release in 2006 on a 2012 computer, because it just runs great. And the sounds are simply breathtaking. Even the concert piano is mind blowing, really lending itself for classical piano playing in real time from my digital piano keyboard. And the price could not be better with B&H special discount offers. I took advantage of the discount, and I am a very happy camper now. Oh, and the authorization process with iLok is very good. I installed MOTU Symphonic Instruments on two computers, and to run it, I simply insert the iLok USB dongle, and voila. It's simply great. 5
