Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this with a XLR Female to 1/8" TRS Male Connection cable?

A: Hello Cristina, you could. However, there is no reason to. This kit comes with everything you need to record into your computer.

Q: 2. Do these mics come as a matched stereo pair?

A: The Rode NT1 is not currently offered as a matched pair.

Q: 3. XLR Cable Included? I've seen unboxing videos where an XLR Cable and Mic Sock (not wind filter) are included, but they're not listed here hence my question.

A: The Rode NT-1 Kit (B&H# RONT1KIT / MFR# NT-1 KIT) includes the Rode SM6 shock mount with detachable pop filter, and a mic cover. You had most likely seen unboxing videos that show the Rode NT1-A Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (B&H# RONT1ACRS / MFR# NT1-A) which includes the Rode SM6 shock mount with detachable pop filter, a mic cover, and a 20' shielded XLR cable. There are some differences between the two models. The NT-1 is the original model and it delivers a flatter, warmer tone with a bit more low end than the NT1-A. The NT1-A is the newer of the two models. It offers a brighter tone and it is capable of handling louder sounds with lower self-noise. The NT1-A is also lighter in weight than the NT-1. Both models have a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 4. October 2021: does it come with SMR or SM6? :)

A: The Rode NT1 + AI-1 Interface Bundle comes with the SM6 Shock Mount with Detachable Pop Filter.

Q: 5. Does this come with a pouch or case?

A: items included in the box are: Rode NT1-KIT Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone Rode SM6 Shock Mount with Detachable Pop Filter Microphone Dust Cover XLR Microphone Cable No bag or case

Q: 6. Are there any benefits to using 48V phantom power? It says it can operate on both, but are there reasons I would choose one over the other?

A: The 24V powering option for the Rode NT1-KIT Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone would really only be useful if you for some reason had a 24V supply, or a supply that did not offer 48V. There should not be a difference or benefit in microphone performance using one or the other.

Q: 7. Can i use usb speakers with this?

A: Hello Freddie, the AI-1 Audio Interface is meant to work as a replacement for your onboard sound card and is equipped with two balanced 1/4" outputs and not USB. If you would like to use your USB speakers, you would most likely have to use the AI-1 as your input first, disconnect, and then use your USB speakers as an output after the fact. I have heard of solutions for using two USB ports simultaneously, however, you would need to consult with your computer's manufacturer to see if this is possible.

Q: 8. is this cardio condenser microphone?

A: The NT1 Cardioid Condenser Microphone from Rode is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone that features Rode's HF6 1-inch capsule. The HF6 is designed to provide a detailed midrange response with smooth highs and warm bass. The capsule itself is seated in a Rycote Lyre internal shockmount to help reduce vibration and handling noises. The microphone's electronics were designed from the ground-up for quiet performance, and allow the NT1 to have a low, 4.5dBA of self-noise. The body of the mic is machined from nickel-plated aluminum that is then coated in a ceramic layer that is electrostatically applied for a scratch-resistant finish. The NT1 includes the RM2 mic clip and has a 1-year limited warranty that extends to 10-years after registration with Rode.

Q: 9. Does this mic have the actual SMR shockmount included or is it the SM6?

A: The shock mount included is the SMR.

Q: 10. Is this product used

A: Its new. I was just as skeptical as you were. Your biggest fear is literally the beginners version of whatever DAW that they give you for free. And the sensitivity of the NT1 in general.

[0.065 lb] Everything that goes through the mic comes out crystal clear, warm, and vibrant. I picks up literally everything in front of it, and seriously blocks out the extraneous sounds behind it.
