Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this paper with an Epson R3000 printer? Seems to be too thick. Thanks.

A: Yes. The Ilford GALERIE Gold Fibre Gloss Paper (5 x 7", 50 Sheets) is compatible with the Epson R3000 printer.

Q: 2. Does this paper work OK in the P900 top loader or is it necessary to front load?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (17 x 22", 25 Sheets), B&H # EPLEFR1722, can fit on either paper loader.

Q: 3. Is this new paper the replacement of the now discontinued smooth super high gloss ? Does it have same characteristics or is it entirely new ?

A: Glossy inkjet is a type of paper that shines by nature. When light falls on such paper it is either reflected parallelly or at an angle. With metallic paper a sheet of mylar is kept between the printing paper and the emulsion. So there's no real comparison. Metallic is far superior for a 3D look. That being said Gloss doesn't change the image effect as does metallic and the colors can be a bit more accurate.

Q: 4. Is this paper double sided?

A: No this paper is single sided.

Q: 5. Can this paper be used with large format Canon printer ?

A: I never tried , but probebly....I use it with an Epson 3880 ....

Q: 6. does this paper compatible with Epson R3000 printer?

A: Not sure, but works well with the Pro-3800

Q: 7. Can someone who has printed extensively on Gold Fibre Silk describe any differences between that and this new Gold Fibre Gloss paper other than the heavier weight? Is paper base around the same level of white? Is the surface any different looking/feeling?

A: Both papers are about the same level of white. The only difference is the thickness.

Q: 8. Back before Christmas I purchased two boxes of Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag paper (8.5x11 and 13x19) from B&H. I now have a new Canon imageProGraf 300 printer. I've downloaded the ICC profile for this paper, but Canson does not indicate the "Media Type" setting that I should use in PS or LR. Could anyone advise me what media setting I should use?

A: You can probably use Luster or Exhibition Fiber which is also in the semi gloss family. Please note: being that the TM300 is only a 4 color printer not really for photos or fine art, you can't expect to get the exact color on prints anyway. You'll need a printer like the Pro 4100.

Q: 9. How does this surface compare with the now discontinued Gold Fibre Silk?

A: Its essentially just an updated version.

Q: 10. Does this paper use the Photo Black or Matte Black cart in the P600/P800?

A: The Epson Legacy Fibre Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) uses a smooth matte black.

[25x Sheet Paper] I have used Galerie photographic paper for over 40 years printing and processing in the darkroom. Recently I have been photographically changing over to digital. I have used many inkjet printing paper for many sources such as Canon, Finestra and others. Since I have had so much experience with Ilford, and Galerie, over the years I decided to give Galerie inkjet paper a try. I was looking for a paper with a slightly warm tone and Galerie is perfect. Images are striking with almost a three-dimensional effect. I really like it!

[Yes] I've tried so many other papers, but keep coming back for this. I've worked with Epson and Canon Printers. This paper has the weight, finish even the SMELL of Kodak Kodabromide F Doubleweight (Ilford had a version also) darkroom paper.

I see they changed the box, and offer it it a gloss finish. I hope the box is all that's changed, and it comes into stock again soon.

[Yes] Like others, I tried this as a replacement to the Gold Fiber Gloss and it has become my favorite paper for both B&W as well as color prints. The color and tonality are very pleasing. Nice thickness and it’s acid free which is great for archival purposes. Tried other papers and always come back to Ilford.

[Fiber] This is a very nice paper that is a pleasure to use with the Epson P9570. As I mentioned in the headline, blacks print wonderfully on this paper using the black enhance overcoat. The sharpness is remarkable as well. There is a slight texture to the surface which is ok... I might take a half star off the rating if I could.

[Fiber] I came to this paper on the demise of gold fiber silk, and was not disappointed. Great vibrancy with colors and it's outstanding with B&W.

[270 gsm] I like the weight and stiffness of this paper. I've been able to get good results with both color and b/w prints. Its finish is more or less a luster with a very subtle texture. Printer profile from the Ilford website works well (using an epson p800).

[25x Sheet Paper] Been using this paper since they stopped making the Gold Fibre Silk. Ilford is the only brand I use for my printing purposes and it has been phenomenal for either color or B&W prints. Not the cheapest but my trusted go to paper.

[25x Sheet Paper] Been using Epson paper for many, many years, but I decided to give Ilford a try with so many positive reviews that I read. When used with my Epson HD XP-15000 printer, the results are amazing. Highly recommended this paper.

[Glossy] After Fibre Gold Silk was no longer available I decided to try the gloss. This paper has beautiful black and white tones and a very nice surface. Just may become my favorite paper.
