Specifically designed to produce creative selective focus effects, the Lensbaby Composer Pro II Edge 80 Fujifilm Xfrom Lensbaby Composer Pro II Edge 80 Fujifilm Xpairs the 80mm f/2.8 optic with a lens body for FUJIFILM X-mount cameras. The Edge 80 is a unique lens, which affords a distinct sharp sliver of focus surrounded by a smoothly blurred background. When coupled with the Composer Pro II, this slice of focus can be moved anywhere within the image area and changed in dimension, using up to 15° of tilt on the lens body. The optic also features a manual aperture for adjusting the size of the in-focus area and has a 12-blade diaphragm to further contribute to a smooth bokeh quality in the out-of-focus regions. The lens is constructed with five glass elements in four groups, and each of the elements are multicoated to resist flare and ghosting for high contrast, color-accurate imagery.

  • Portrait-length 80mm f/2.8 lens provides a comfortable, slightly narrow field of view that is well-suited to isolating subject matter.
  • Flat field rendering delivers a high degree of sharpness and, when tilted in the Composer II, a dramatic slice of focus is produced that is bordered by a smooth and even blur to isolate subjects with selective focus.
  • Besides adjusting exposure, the f/2.8 to f/22 aperture range allows you to control the size of the sweet spot of focus.
  • A 12-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth, pleasing bokeh quality.
  • Lens construction uses five glass elements in four groups, and each of the elements are multi-coated to resist flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.

  • FUJIFILM X lens mount
  • Enables tilting the optic up to 15° to vary the amount and position of the sweet spot of focus
  • Accepts various optics from the Optic Swap System
  • Metal body for improved durability and rigidity

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.

A: We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.

Q: 2. Can this be used with a canon 6d

A: Hi Sharon,Yes, the Composer Pro II with Edge 50 for Canon EF will work on your Canon 6D.

Q: 3. Is this lense compatible to the Canon Rebel t6i?

A: Yes, any of our Canon lenses will be compatible with your Canon Rebel series camera, including the Composer Pro II with Sweet 35.

Q: 4. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: I've not experienced trouble of this kind. It looks as if Lensbaby are offering to take them back for a fix if your problem persists. But it seems odd that you have the problem for both mounts (I assume two Lensbabies). Seems like you need to undo the tension ring, that is not the front silver ring which operates focus. It is the ring closest to the camera that needs to be turned anti clockwise.

Q: 5. Does this lens work with the Nikon D 3200?

A: Yes the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F works with the Nikon D3200 camera. But you need to set the camera to Manual mode.

Q: 6. Why is the mount for the Composer Pro 2 fitted with the sweet 35, so much smaller than the Composer Pro 2 mount fitted with the sweet 50?

A: The actual silver mount on all Composer Pro II's for Fuji are the same, regardless of the optic installed.

Q: 7. what is the difference between the 'sweet' version and the 'edge' version?

A: The main difference would be the shape of the blur/bokeh pattern created by the lens. The Lensbaby "Sweet" lenses create a rounder radial bokeh blur pattern, while the Lensbaby Edge creates a straight 'slice' (think more rectangular) bokeh blur pattern. The size and amount of the blur with both lenses can be controlled by the aperture you choose, and the strength and position of the blur can be controlled by the position of the lens.

Q: 8. Can the Sweet 50 be removed from the Composer II so another optic can be used?

A: yes

Q: 9. How much smaller is the focal plane of this lens on a crop sensor camera than it is on a full frame camera?

A: A 50mm lens on a Canon crop sensor camera would be roughly equal to using an 80mm lens if you are comparing it to 35mm film or a full frame sensor camera. It does not matter if it is a Lensbaby 50mm or a Canon 50mm or a Canon 18-55mm set to the 50mm range. They will all have the same focal length.

Q: 10. will this lens vignette on a full frame at max tilt?

A: There should be no vignetting when the Edge 50 is fully tilted in the Composer Pro II on your full frame camera.

[46 mm (Front)] This lens is super fun! The optic is nice and sharp, although not for the precision level of a geared shift/tilt lens, it’s great for expressive use of selective focus.

[80mm] I have a number of other Lensbaby products but this has to be my favourite. A slice of sharp focus, surrounded by gorgeous blur...would definitely recommend to anyone...

[4.7 x 4.1 x 4"] I almost always have this lens on my camera. I have had it over six months and still use it all the time. I almost always have the lens tilted to one side or the other because I like the vertical-slice look. The lens has a nice glow to it even if you have it flat to the focus plane (which is only somewhat possible). The clip that holds the optic in place could be a bit stronger but I have my camera (Pentax K3) all the time and don't baby it or have it in a proper bag and it hasn't fallen out or anything. I owned the K1 briefly and found that the image circle completely covered its sensor also if you were curious.

[APS-C] I have loved using this new lens/optic. There is a learning curve as you have to manually focus, and adjust aperature on the lens and shoot in manual mode. When using a more narrow aperature, your view is darkened so you have to trust in your light meter. This could be frustrating to someone new to manual shooting. A new challenge is just what I needed...The effects are beautiful, similar to free-lensing without having to worry about too much light spilling in between the lens and camera. Now that I am getting better at using the lens, making beautiful images with it and using it intently and thoughtfully are the challenges. I wanted a tilt-shift lens but couldn't justify the expense on something that wasn't 100% necessary for my business. Though different than a tilt shift lens, this offers a different perspective than a regular lens and it is just what I was looking for.

[4.7 x 4.1 x 4"] The Edge optics are the hardest to figure out but the results are fantastic once you work with it for a bit.

[Manual Focus] I am relatively new to the world of Lensbaby, but I love the variety of different creative options that you have with this Lens, particularly the way the tilt lens lets you change the focal point of your image. Like most of the Lensbaby Line, there is quite a learning curve, but it has been a fun, yet sometimes rocky, path to moving forward with the lens.

[FUJIFILM X] Item arrived like the box been opened and repackaged. But overall, seemed like a great lens. Ordered a separate 35mm optic with a filter adapter. 5 out of 5 for build and usability.

[46 mm (Front)] First impressions...Very sharp (I love that!) Has tendency to be a bit boxy. Have not got the closeup filters yet. Tubes work for close-ups. With 20mm tube, very little depth distance that camera will keep things in focus. (You can't move the camera closer or away from the subject much (with the tube), before everything goes way out of focus-unless you want a smaller aperture. But tubes will work at close-ups. Boxyness could be fixed in Photoshop. Very light & small and will be easy to exchange lens. Glad I got Composer Pro which will allow the focus point to move beyond the viewfinder. Easy to carry. Get the close-up filters and case! After not thinking I would keep it, I warmed up after taking sample shots. It is so clear in resolution! I don't think I have a clearer lens! Great addition to my lens collection. Looking forward to getting more optics. Great purchase!
