You don't have to be an audio expert to achieve reliable, hassle-free wireless audio with the Azden PRO-XR, a lavalier digital wireless microphone system that's ideal for run-and-gun video shoots, interviews, and vlog production on your DSLR camera or smartphone.

The PRO-XR offers exceptionally reliable and robust 2.4 GHz wireless performance using proprietary Signal Redundancy technology, adjustable 20/50/100mW transmitter RF output, and an external antenna design. This combination helps avoid signal interference and prevents dropouts at a range up to 500 feet.

This system features an omnidirectional lavalier microphone, a compact bodypack transmitter, a camera-mount receiver, and a slew of accessories optimized for mobile video production. Plug the mic into the transmitter, connect the receiver to your camera or smartphone, then power up and go.

The transmitter can send the mic signal to up to four receivers at once, a powerful feature for a 2.4 GHz system and great for shoots with several B-roll cameras operating simultaneously. In addition, up to 4 mic systems can operate at the same location at the same time.

Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries ensure that you'll have plenty of operating time, even for all-day shoots. Whether you work with a smartphone, camcorder, or mirrorless/DSLR, the PRO-XR provides the simplicity you need for fast setups, and the dependability you require for every gig, even in busy RF environments.

  • Clip the lavalier microphone to your subject's clothing, then connect it to the transmitter's 3.5mm mic input. Alternatively, you can route signal from a mixer or recorder into the transmitter's 3.5mm aux input.
  • Weighing just over two ounces, the compact transmitter can be conveniently placed in a pocket or affixed at the waist via its belt clip.
  • Equally compact, the portable receiver includes mounting facilities to allow attachment to a camera, tripod, camera cage, or boompole. Its two 3.5mm outputs enable simultaneous connection to your recording device and a pair of headphones.

  • Upon powering on the receiver and transmitter, the PRO-XR is ready to streamline your workflow. There are no menus, groups, channels, or frequencies to worry about.
  • No learning curves means that you can spend more time on your content, and less time fussing with settings.

  • 2.4 GHz Range: The PRO-XR operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, away from TV and Bluetooth signal interference.
  • Frequency Spectrum Auto-Scan: The PRO-XR automatically scans the 2.4 GHz frequency spectrum and selects the 12 best available frequencies to use for its connection.
  • Signal-Redundancy Technology: As an additional layer of protection, the PRO-XR employs Azden’s proprietary Signal Redundancy technology. The transmitter sends two copies of its signal to the receiver at all times, each on a different frequency. If the system predicts interference of the primary signal, it will instantly switch to using the secondary signal without any interruptions.
  • Automatic Interference Avoidance: The PRO-XR constantly monitors the RF spectrum. When it detects the possibility of an interference, it automatically and seamlessly changes its transmission frequency to a clean one.

  • Internal 1200 mAh lithium-ion batteries power the receiver and transmitter for hours upon hours—up to 20 hours for the receiver, and up to 10 to 14 hours for the transmitter (depending on RF power output).
  • Recharge the batteries in just 2.5 hours via mini-USB, which can also power the units while charging.

  • Change the transmission RF output power of the transmitter to adapt to challenging RF environments. Use the default 20mW setting for optimal battery life.
  • Increase the RF output power to 50mW or 100mW for better reception at extreme distances, or to overcome line-of-sight obstructions and over-crowded Wi-Fi environments.
  • Combining the 100mW output with the use of the included high-gain transmitter antenna can extend the range of the system up to an incredible 500 feet.

  • Low system latency of 4.5 ms.
  • 3.5mm mic and headphone outputs on receiver allow simultaneous connection to your recorder and headphones.
  • 3.5mm mix and aux inputs on transmitter for connection of a lav/headset mic or a feed from a mixer/recorder.
  • Omnidirectional electret condenser microphone provides reliable sound pickup regardless of its angle of orientation
  • Includes a clamp-style phone mount with an accessory shoe mount.
  • Includes a 3.5mm TRRS adapter cable for smartphones and tablets, and a Lightning-to-headphone adapter for iOS mobile devices that don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work on a BMP4KCC?

A: It should work great with the BM. I use mine with a d-810, Sony EX, and a tiny cannon camera as well. It's very versatile.

Q: 2. Will the Azden PRO-XR system transmit a stereo signal from the line out of a field recorder so the receiver can be used with headphones to wirelessly monitor the recorder's stereo output? If this is not the best solution for wirelessly monitoring a field recorder's stereo output, is there another solution that is not a bluetooth transmitter?

A: The Azden PRO-XR can be used to send the line level output from a recorder's headphone jack, but the audio signal that is transmitted wirelessly to the receiver will be summed to mono. So you will hear dual mono (the same audio through both ears) when you are monitoring through the receiver's headphone jack while the audio that is being recorded will be stereo. This setup would work to monitor the levels while recording.

Q: 3. Does this work with very light mirrorless cameras like the Sony a7riii with standard zoom lens?

A: Yes it will as this stabilizer has a load capacity between 0 to 10 pounds.

Q: 4. Hi Would this work with my Lumix GX8 with 14-45mm lens?

A: Yes you can. The XR-Pro has a load capacity between 0 to 10 pounds. You will be able to balance a lighter load such as the Lumix GX8 with a 14-45mm lens.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the Glidecam XR-Pro and the Glidecam HD-Pro?

A: The biggest difference is that the XR had four individual screws (two for horizontal and two for vertical movement) that are used to adjust the head but the HD has a gear system that makes balance 100x easier

Q: 6. I own a Panasonic UX-90 camera and this Glidcam popped up in the accessories. I am a newbie when it comes to owning a stabilizer/gimbal. Is this a good place to start or would recommend another model? Thanks for you time!

A: The Glidecam XR-PRO Handheld Camera Stabilizer would be a good stabilizer for your camera. It is fully manual so a lot of the effectiveness of the stabilizer will come with practice but it should work pretty well.

Q: 7. What is the difference in this and the flycam redking

A: The Glidecam is the brand that created this stabilizer style.

Q: 8. is the rechargeable battery Replacable?

A: Hello. Yes, the batteries in the PRO-XR components are replaceable, however, it must be done by a trained Azden technician as it requires some soldering. It is worth noting that the PRO-XR lithium rechargeable batteries are capable of a full (500) charging cycles before they start to slightly diminish in capacity, at which time, they can still hold a 70% charge capacity after they hit that (500) mark. So, assuming you use the system on an average of 25 hours per week, it would be over 5 years before you may have to consider replacing the battery.

Q: 9. Can I attach a monitor to the bottom? If so, how? Sorry I am new to this

A: You cannot attach a monitor to the bottom of this stabilizer. That is not how this unit is designed to operate.

Q: 10. Can you shoot this inverted for low shots?

A: Yes, just invert post at gimbal and shoot low mode

[2.2 Kilohms] I use this product mostly for getting the table toasts at weddings, and for that it works great. I'm right up close so range isn't an issue, but things move so fast it would be impossible with either a wired mic or a lav. This gets the job done perfectly.

[4.5 ms] I purchased the Azden Mic & Transmitter as an economical way to get better audio from wedding videos and, for the price, the system exceeded my expectations. It tested well at up to 150' as long as there were no obstructions. It is not broadcast grade sound quality, but it was certainly a vast improvement over the camera's onboard shotgun mic. In fact, after hearing the results of the first one, I bought another mic for my second camera. The very minor drawback is that the mic feels somewhat flimsy. I don't imagine it will take a lot of abuse. Also, there are only two channels. But if your needs are not complicated this unit is an inexpensive solution.

[1.5 dBV (Max)] With the Azden 105ULH system I now have the capability to have 2 lapel mics. I intend to use these with video recording of my family trip to europe this summer. I use the single all the time and it works beautifully.

[76] The lavalier mic that came with the Azden Pro Video Mic System was an Omni and it picked up sound from all directions. Now there is a uni mic that excludes unwanted side and back noise.

[1200 mAh ] After going through three other brands of wireless systems around this price point and finding numerous performance and quality issues I finally ended up hitting a home run with the Azden PRO-XR. Now having field tested the system both outdoors and indoors (along with some challenging room configurations) I can say that it performed flawlessly with ZERO interference during continuous use for close to 8 straight hours. Unit's are well built and look like they can take a few drops with no worries. As some others have commented, the included microphone is only adequate in terms of sound reproduction. It gets you started, but one may wish to invest in a higher quality mic for optimized performance. Nevertheless, I see no reason to reduce points for that because it does one thing very well, which is transmit your voice (or music) to your camera or mixer perfectly!

[20 Hours] The best wireless mic I've ever used. Works with smartphones, pro cameras (like my C100 and GH5). Perfect for small-scale video creators, vloggers, and even small business owners who want to make their own videos. Insane range and excellent battery life. You can even use it for Zoom virtual meetings and livestreams. Review video:
