Reminiscent of the very first Lensbaby Spark 2.0 Sweet 50 Optic Nikon Zlens, the Lensbaby Spark 2.0 Sweet 50 Optic Nikon Zis a flexible lens body designed for use with Nikon Z-mount cameras and to be used in conjunction with the Optic Swap System. This Spark 2.0 is delivered with the Sweet 50 optic, which provides a clear sweet spot of sharp focus that is surrounded by a smooth blur, which can be adjusted depending on how the lens body is positioned. The Spark 2.0's accordion-like design permits nearly unrestricted tilt range, up to 30° in any direction, and requires the distinct squeeze-to-focus movement to manually adjust focus. The Spark 2.0 and Sweet 50 combination also avails an f/2.5-22 adjustable aperture range, 12-blade diaphragm, and a minimum focusing distance of 1.1' for working with close-up subjects.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the lensbaby compatible with the Nikon D3300?

A: I own the Composer for Canon.. However, I think the D3300 has a standard Nikon F mount.. So, Yes it should work..

Q: 2. Will this work on the SOnya6000?

A: the lens baby site has a compatibility chart for sony cameras. It says it will work but you have to turn off the shutter lock

Q: 3. Is this a usable lens on its own? Or is it an accessory to a lens? Can I put this on a PL mount camera and shoot video normally?

A: The Lensbaby composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic is a complete two-part lens. However, as stated on the lensbaby web page, it CANNOT be used on a camera with PL lens mount.

Q: 4. I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.

A: We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with a K mount, ASP-C crop sensor camera such as the KP?

A: Yes this lens works on Pentax K mount DSLRs such as the KP.

Q: 6. I currently have a D5300 DX format camera. I want to buy a Lensbaby 50 but I want to ensure I can also use it on a full frame because I plan to up grade my camera in the next year to an Nikon 850?

A: The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic works great on both a crop sensor and full-frame camera.

Q: 7. Will this work on my sony alpha 6400?

A: Yes it will

Q: 8. I have the composer pro ii in both canon and fuji mounts, and in both the lens is very hard to tilt even with the ring loosened. is this normal?

A: I've not experienced trouble of this kind. It looks as if Lensbaby are offering to take them back for a fix if your problem persists. But it seems odd that you have the problem for both mounts (I assume two Lensbabies). Seems like you need to undo the tension ring, that is not the front silver ring which operates focus. It is the ring closest to the camera that needs to be turned anti clockwise.

Q: 9. Will it fit my Canon R5? I have an adaptor.

A: Yes Lensbaby Spark 2.0 with Sweet 50 Optic for Canon RF is compatible with the Canon R5. No adapter is needed.

Q: 10. Is this a good place to start to use Lensbaby lenses to photograph interesting close ups of flowers? I have a Nikon D7500.

A: I will try as best I can. I am an amateur myself here are a few suggestions. First, what your talking about is macrophotography and while Lens Baby lenses can do this type of photography from what I know they are more specialty lenses. The Composer Pro as well as other lenses by "Lens Baby" let you change the point of focus. I myself prefer to use a good macro lens One technique I plan on using is called HDR photography. Photoshop has a limited capability which I plan on experimenting with. My first results are good but depending on you budget you can get other plug ins. My own philosophy is to use high quality macro optics and then use automated focusing rails (my future plans). Art(which photography is) is matter of creativity so you have to decide what is right for you and then get the right equipment based on your budget.

[42.6°] I bought this lens for the special effect possibilities and the flexibility to change different focal lengths. Note: There is a learning curve to using this lens ... when it is most effective ... or not. This is my second Lensbaby lens ... the other is a Circular Fisheye ... and super fun. Lensbaby lens are very good quality, produce excellent image and low priced ... I think of them as the lens you buy AFTER you have your basic lens. Lensbaby make fun lens for creative images. There lens are manual focus only ... and you set the aperture ... therefore it requires the photographer to think ... and slow down ... and that is part of the fun in using the lens.

[Nikon Z] This is a nice addition to the Lensbaby swappable optics lineup and complements the Sweet 35 and Edge 80. It is nice to have aperture controls built into the lens. Quality is very good.

[Full-Frame] If you have ever thought about lens whacking, but you think that sounds dirty, this is a much less eyebrow raise heavy way to get a similar effect. Also, your sensor won’t get a thousand dust particles stuck on it’s stupid little exposed face. You won’t be disappointed. For the price, this thing is amazing, and achieves the desired look very well!

[46 mm (Front)] Having recently received the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic, I have only used it in a production situation once, and that was a low-light fast-moving event. Manually focusing in low light on moving bodies would be challenging with any lens, and of course the Lensbaby tilt system adds another dimension for the operator.
Obviously, these are specialty, special effects lenses, and they're not intended for action photography, but I did manage to get several pretty cool shots with the Lensbaby (on my Sony a6500), which I look forward to working on in Lightroom. (I won't post them here because I don't have permission from the subjects.)

I find the construction of the Composer II to be solid, the controls seem well-calibrated (and will take some practice to get muscle memory), and I love the look of the Sweet 50. I hope to get more optics; probably a Lensbaby Edge 35mm next, for a normal field of view on APS-C/Super35, and wide on full frame. I like that the optics can be purchased separately for relatively low cost when compared to the price of a whole new lens. I think I'll have fun with this system.

[46 mm (Front)] This lens baby is the bomb! When done right my pictures have an incredible glow. This lens baby allows you to adjust the sweet spot of focus by physically bending the lens across the wide range of angles

[f/22] Lensbaby works so hard to give you contorl over focus and tilt, it's almsot a shame the Sweet 50 is so shar\p at f16. But w great lens to have in the bag when you feel like having a bit of fun.

[Manual Focus] I think this is a great optic for a specific range. It delivers exactly what it says but you have to be an informed buyer and realize its intentions. I love it. I intend on purchasing more of the available optics for the Composer.

[Full-Frame] I already own the Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 and Edge 80 Optics. It took some practice and getting used to; but once I did, I had a lot of fun with these lenses and took some great portraits with them. I was excited to hear about the Sweet 50, as it's a great portrait focal length, especially for those with APS-C cameras like I have, so added it to my collection.Remember, this lens is completely manual, so you may need to dial-in the focal length and aperture into your camera's menu settings so they they are recorded in the resulting file's metadata; and/or carefully watch the manual focus and exposure cues in your viewfinder/LCD display. The key is to slow down. But get those right, and the results are some lovely, narrow sweet spot focus (depth of field) with deliciously smooth bokeh falling away from it. It's not in the same league as the far more expensive prime lenses out there: there are some amazing pieces of glass that can do this too. But tilt the Lensbaby lens around and things really get fun, with different areas/planes of focus with some diorama effects.

[Manual Focus] I've only been using this lens for a short time, but I love the results. It takes some practice, but this lens has a lot of creative possibilities and the effects are amazing. This a great lens to add to your collection at a reasonable and fair product price. The Sweet 50 is awesome !!
