A: The MV5 is not intended to be used from 10 feet away. You would be better off using a shotgun style mic like the Rode VideoMic Me-L (B&H # ROVMMEL) which is specifically for use with iOS devices that have Lightning connectors or the VideoMicro (B&H # ROVIDEOMICRO) which can be used with adapters or a 3.5mm to Lightning cable.
