The Korg Nautilus is a professional music workstation with a vast palette of sounds, integrated editing, detailed 7" TouchView display with gesture support, 16-track sequencer, 16-track audio recorder, and extensive sampling capabilities. The Nautilus includes Essential and Future sound sets for a total of 2200 programs and combinations. The instrument features nine distinct sound engines, with each engine dedicated to authentically reproducing its respective instrument type, including detailed pianos, vintage keyboard sounds, tone-wheel organs, ethnic instruments, plucked instruments, analog synthesizers, and more.

The sequencer can access any combination of sound engines and imported samples, and the 16-track audio recorder can be used for recording vocals, other instruments, and more. The sound architecture offers a two-part split along with a single drum track in a single program, which when combined with the 16-part combination mode, makes for a massive sound and sequencing power house. The Dynamic Polyphony Allocation and Smooth Sound Transition provides uninterrupted playing and sound switching.

The Nautilus's sampling engine allows you to record your own samples from external sources including sampling through effects or loading samples from the media mode. Once your samples are recorded or imported, edit start and stop points, set loop points, truncate, time-slice, and more. Create and edit multi-samples, which consist of one or more samples spread out across the keyboard and quickly convert them into programs. Create massive sounds using the generous internal RAM with up to 6 hours of sample time, and save your work into user sample banks and virtual memory.

The Nautilus is equipped with over 197 different effects types and can use up to 16 simultaneous effects and 32 simultaneous EQs for massive production power. You'll have plenty of hands-on control thanks to the streamlined TouchView interface and control panel with customizable mode buttons. The Nautilus delivers professional sound quality and capabilities in an affordable, streamlined performance synthesizer.

The Nautilus features nine completely different synthesis engines:

  • Three types of keyboard sound generators: SGX-2 (acoustic piano), EP-1 (electric piano), CX-3 (tonewheel organ)
  • Three types of virtual analog synthesizer sound generators: AL-1, MS-20EX, PolysixEX
  • PCM synthesizer sound generator with advanced functionality: HD-1
  • Physical modeling synthesizer for string hammering/plucking sounds: STR-1
  • VPM/FM synthesizer sound generator with advanced functionality: MOD-7

Each synthesis engine has enough functionality to operate as a standalone synthesizer

Set Lists provide easy on-screen selection of Programs, Combinations, and Songs from a single screen. Smooth Sound Transitions (SST) provide overlapping effects and voices when you change sounds, with no special mode necessary

The Nautilus comes with 197 types of professional-grade effects that offer a stunning range of freedom, including chorus, delay, reverb, amp models, vocoders, and more

To support your playing and songwriting, there's an arpeggiator that can automatically generate rhythmical or broken chords (arpeggios), a drum track for quickly playing drum patterns in a variety of styles, and a step sequencer that lets you intuitively create and play back original drum patterns

Audio signals coming through the analog inputs can be sampled in stereo. You can also add the built-in effects when sampling, or even resample the programs or combinations. The Nautilus can also import sound files in various formats

The sequencer provides 16 MIDI tracks and 16 audio tracks (24-bit, 48 kHz) for composing and producing your own music. You can import and export SMF and WAVE files when working with other platforms

The Nautilus can connect to your computer with a single cable, as it features a USB Type-B port that supports USB 2.0 for transmitting and receiving MIDI and audio data. The Nautilus features a USB Type-A port for easy connection to an external storage device

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How difficult is this radio to program?

A: Not hard at all. Just download the free CPS software from Motorola and purchase a RMM2050 compatible CPS cable (Motorola specs part #HKKN4027, available from many online retailers including B&H). You have to have a Windows computer or Mac running Windows in bootcamp/parallels/etc. The app is a web-app that runs in your browser. Connect the radio via USB, follow the instructions, and all the settings are selectable from drop-down menus. When done, click to store to the radio or save for later if doing multiple units. Took about 10 minutes for the first one to learn everything and 2 minutes or less each after that. I had no previous experience programming radios, so it was easy for a beginner. There are no selectable frequencies, since MURS only uses 5 FCC-approved frequencies. You can select privacy bands for each channel in the CPS software, however. All other settings (mic gain/button function/tone/vox/etc.) were also selected by drop down menus in the web-app.

Q: 2. Does this walkie talkie come with a charger?

A: Yes the Motorola RMU2040 model comes with a Drop-In Tray Charger.

Q: 3. Can these work with / be paired / are compatible with Motorola R2

A: Yes, the Motorola RMU2040 On-Site 2-Way Radio can be paired with the Motorola R2 Portable 2-Way Analog/Digital 4-Watt, 64 Channel, UHF Radio, however, the number of available channels will be limited.

Q: 4. What connection does this include that would allow me to connect the digital piano to my computer to use Finale?

A: The Korg B2SPBK 88-Key Digital Piano has a USB Type-B connector to enable connection wit a computer.

Q: 5. how long does it take to charge?

A: Charge your new battery overnight before using it. This is referred to as initializing and will enable you to obtain maximum battery capacity.New Motorola IMPRES batteries, when inserted into a Motorola IMPRES charger, will indicate a calibration cycle by displaying a steady yellow light on the charge status indicator. Allow this calibration process to complete by not removing the battery from the charger until it's fully charged and displays a steady green light. Lithium-ion/Polymer: Charge 1-2 more hours after the charger light turns green. In order to minimize capacity loss and cycle life reduction, new, non-initialized batteries must be stored in well ventilated, cool and dry locations. Batteries stored in these conditions may be stored:If used batteries are to be removed from service for extended periods (greater than 30 days) they should be discharged to about 50% of their capacity. Store in a cool, dry, location.

Q: 6. Is there a way to configure this radio in a way that stops the LED light from constantly blinking when standing by?

A: The blinking LED function cannot be disabled.

Q: 7. How many radios can be on one channel?

A: As many as you need.

Q: 8. Can these radios be used out of box or is there a license necessary for use?

A: These radios will work out of the box. A license may be required depending on the location and application of use.

Q: 9. Is there any reason this can't be used in the mountains?

A: Nautilus LifeLine Marine Rescue GPS uses the marine automatic identification system (AIS) and digital selective calling (DSC) technologies that can transmit a distress signal to any commercial ship or most yachts within 34 miles of your position. So it only works underwater.

Q: 10. Does this product come with the chargers?

A: Yes - each unit coms with an AC powered charger and charging base. Nice that the holster also fits into the base with the unit. Neat.

[61.5 lb] This feels just like playing a real piano. Very nice response to force and repetition. I really like the simple, minimal design. I have never had a use for keyboards full of lessons, song demos, cheesy backing tracks, and other unnecessary clutter (The D1 does have demo stuff but at least it's out of the way). This still has plenty of useful features to control, such as the metronome, tunings, and lots of options for combining sounds. That being said, it would be a nice touch if parameters of some of the sounds could be changed like on the real instruments, like the organs or electric pianos. But that's not a huge deal since I didn't buy this to have total control over every aspect of the sound - I mainly just wanted a realistic piano (but I do especially like the Rhodes and 60s electric piano). The only annoyance I have found so far is that there is a subtle high pitch frequency that is audible through headphones. It's not particularly loud or noticeable at normal volumes and it didn't seem worth it to go to the trouble of sending this big thing back and exchanging it. It is easily removed with an EQ adjustment if you're recording or playing through an amp but still slightly disappointing since everything else about this piano is so enjoyable. I'm still giving 5 stars with the assumption that it is just an isolated problem and not something found in all of them. The included pedal works well - it does not do half pedaling so if you want the full real piano experience, you'll have to upgrade the pedal. Overall, very happy with the purchase - looks great, sounds great, feels great.

[95 dB Typical] Love this digital Piano. I have a Yamaha Acoustic Piano to compare to. This korg 389u has outstanding key action and sound. I am extremely pleased with my korg 380u. 73 yr old 4th year student with weekly lessons. Get up early to practice and now I won't wake up my wife .

[95 dB Typical] I am just learning the piano as an older adult after all these years. I did a lot of research into various makes and models. What it came down to was the reality that to start out, the key action is the most important aspect of a piano, with sound coming a close second. The RH3 piano bed on the Korg D1 feels absolutely amazing! Well balanced and smooth as silk. This is the same keyboard they use in the SV2 Vintage Piano. It's weighted and will help you develop good technique. And the sounds! I have read reviews that said the sounds are dated. Not the case at all. Particularly the organs and the e-pianos are marvelous. You will not be disappointed. My piano was delivered in great shape with no damage. I am thoroughly enjoying myself!

[61.5 lb] That's it. Sounds great. Plays like a grand piano - action is on the heavy side, but I like that. Just a few sound options but you can blend two voices for a thicker pad for fun. The main acoustic piano is very nice. Also makes a great controller and sound source as it has the traditional MIDI input and output.

[95 dB Typical] This keyboard has the Sounds of a Kronos with out the heavy price tag. 88 weighted keys with a nice feel and action. Easy to navigate color touch screen and many user programmable buttons make using this keyboard a pleasure. The setlist feature is a a huge help for live performance. Now for the downside. This keyboard is heavy. Weighing in at about 50 pounds. Also the transpose button is a little weird having to use a shift key then push the octave change buttons to transpose. . Also the boot up time is very long, about 2 minutes before you can play. All in all this is a great keyboard.

[61.5 lb] I have had many keyboards and the Korg i3 is my latest and I am loving it. Getting together with my band menbers doesn't happen often enought for me but with the i3 I am able to play with the backing tracks and get what I need to create and fill out new ideas. It is easy to learn and sounds are very good ... of course it's not a Nord or a Kronos... which cost 4 or 7 times more. The piece and the price are well worth the purchase...and *Note- since Korg has started dropping the street price of this little beauty I'm thinking it may about to be replaced or worse ...just disappear like the old original Korg i3 first generation from decades ago(1993). If you are interested in an rompler/arranger type keyboard you should get this one while you can...and the lowered price for this make it a ridiculously good deal that shouldn't be missed.

[61.5 lb] My son, who is used to playing on a baby grand, is thrilled with this keyboard. He wanted a keyboard to be able to play in his room, compose, record, etc. He loves the feel of the weighted keys and the different sound options (upright piano, old fashioned piano, etc.). I heard him playing the Minute Waltz and Maple Leaf Rag, and it sounded wonderful.

[95 dB Typical] First, B&H shipped the next day after ordering. Their package, which included a bench, headphones was decent quality. Korg has almost no bells and whistles in this piano, just gre3at sound and keyboard action for a learning or advanced piano player. Happy with my purchase and happy with B&H

[95 dB Typical] Im not a Musician. I work in video. I was tired of depending on musicians and audio sites to help finish out my projects. I know enough about music, that with this product im dangerous! Its exciting and very easy to learn if you have to passion for it.

[61.5 lb] This is the only budget DP which provides proper hammer response and repetitive notes (trills).
comparison:
Kawai RHC action - proper hammer response but no repetitiveness

Casio Scaled Hammer Action - modified hammer response
Roland PHA-4 action - no hammer response at all
Yamaha GHS action - no hammer response at all, no repetitiveness
