If you need to have the strap screwed into the foot and don't want to have to take it off every time you put it onto a tripod, you could use something along the lines of this, KIKLP450V2, where you would screw this plate onto the bottom of the collar on your 100-400, screw the Black Rapids plate into the 1/4-20 on the plate near the back which would leave the front of the plate open to be mounted on a tripod.
