Designed for up to 8K cine-style image capture and covering up to full-frame size sensors, the Leica L-mount IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens L-Mount Feetfrom IRIX incorporates multiple internal and external design features. This 15mm lens will produce a classic wide-angle look. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot.

Internally, nine blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh for natural-looking out-of-focus highlights. The IRIX Cine 15mm is a wide 43.3mm full-frame lens that uses 15 optical elements, including three high refractive index (HRI), two extra low-dispersion glass (ED), and two aspheric (ASP) elements, to create crisp cinematic shots in resolutions up to 8K while keeping the focus breathing at a minimum. This lens features a relatively fast T2.6 maximum aperture and can be stopped down to T22.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would it be better if I use the ef-mount version on a mft sensor camera (gh5) with a speed boost or would it better to use mft version of this lens?

A: it is always better to use the native version of the lens.

Q: 2. Looks like you couldn't use a clamp on matte box with this lens because of the lens support?

A: The IRIX 15mm Cine Lens (PL, Feet) has 86mm front filter threads. You can use a step up ring to clamp on a matter box.

Q: 3. Is the lens mount user-swappable?

A: This lens is not user-swappable. I recommend going to Duclos Lenses for professional mount conversion and calibration. They offer the IRIX lenses in ARRI PL, Canon EF/RF, L-Mount, Micro 4/3, Nikon Z, and Sony E mounts.

Q: 4. This will be 90mm focal length on MFT body? Is that correct?

A: That is correct. It is doubled.

Q: 5. Would this 11mm be equivalent to a 24mm on Super35 sensor, specifically the Blackmagic 6K Pro?

A: Used on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (Canon EF) (B&H# BL6KPKCAMP) with its 1.6X crop-sized APS-C sensor, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC15EFI) will render a field of view that is equivalent in its effective focal length to using a 24mm lens on a full frame sensor-equipped camera body. If you instead opt to use the IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) with that same camera then the field of view in terms of its its effective focal length would be equivalent to using an 18mm lens on a full frame sensor-equipped camera body.

Q: 6. what is the solution to add an Uv protection filter on this lens?

A: The best option for putting a UV filter in front of the IRIX 21mm T1.5 Cine Lens (Sony E, Feet) would be to use a matte box with filter holders or a filter tray.

Q: 7. In a BMPCC 6K Pro camera, this 11mm equals to what mm?

A: The IRIX 11mm Lens on the BMPCC 6K Pro will become roughly a 16.5mm lens.

Q: 8. What changes and how does the " An adaptive focus ring" adapt from manual to follow focus use?

A: On the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens, the focus ring does not change, but rather, it is conducive to both manual use (by hand) and for use with a follow focus (motorized or manual), due to it's ergonomic design, equipped with 0.8 pitch gear teeth.

Q: 9. Why no Nikon F mount then it could be adapted to more than one camera!?

A: I am sorry to say we are not aware of the reason why IRIX does not make this lens with a Nikon F mount.

Q: 10. is this lens compatible with Black Magic Pocket Cini 4K or 6K cameras?

A: The following unit offers a micro four thirds mounting system. will not mount to a BM6k unit

[T2.6] Feels solid, but isn't overly heavy. Image quality is great and distortion is reasonable. I shoot it both full frame and S35 and it handles both well.

As others have said, it's true that the lens cap is wonky. Apparently they have a fixed one that you can order separately and hopefully that's what will ship with new copies of the lens.

I use it via an adapter and did have a little trouble finding a friendly one. Fotodiox PL-EF did NOT work. I eventually went with some no-names on eBay that did.

[T2.6] I use this coupled with my BMPCC 6K Pro. Like most cinema lenses, this is massive. Be prepared for a workout if you are going handheld. Gearing is very smooth, although a bit stiff if not using a focus wheel. I own all of the cinema lenses and two of the three have decent magnetic hoods, while one does not appear to be as strong. This doesn't affect me as I utilize a matte box. Like most have stated, the lense cover is complete garbage. Pops off for no apparent reason.

[9] Quality optics and build. Light for a cine prime, and easy to use. Works well on our RED Komodo. Smooth focus and aperture rings. The magnetic filter system is quick and easy. Also have the IRIX 30mm Cine T1.5. We tested both lenses and found no issues. The blue infinity marking really is at infinity and the other markings appear to be accurate as well. The only complaint is the rounded lens cap that comes with the lens. We were told that IRIX is going to offer the better, flat cap they provide with their 30mm T1.5 for this and older models. Kudos to them for that improvement. Overall, this is a surprisingly good cine prime series considering the low price.

[T22] The IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine is my go-to for shooting in tight spaces, like car interiors. Its wide-angle capability allows for capturing extensive detail in confined areas, making it ideal for automotive shoots. The T2.6 aperture ensures excellent performance in low-light conditions, crucial for maintaining quality inside vehicles.

Balancing impressively on gimbal rigs, it proves to be a versatile workhorse, capable of handling dynamic shots with stability and clarity. Its durable build adds to its reliability, making it a trustworthy choice for demanding environments.

In short, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 combines wide-angle versatility, low-light proficiency, and rugged durability, standing out as an essential lens for producing high-quality, creative shots in limited spaces. It’s a valuable asset for any video project requiring sharp and expansive visuals in compact settings.

[86 mm] 15mm on S35 is great. I thought this would be too wide and wished IRIX made a 25 or 35 but actually to compliment the existing 45 they sell this 15 is a good match feeling wide but not super distorted wide. Magnetic hoods are cool, but not so much if you are filming metalworking - all the dust just sits on those magnets. Minor quibble but the lens is great!

[43.3 mm] In over 40 years of industrial and feature film making, the Irix primes are my favorite series of prime lenses, favored over the big name lenses that cost 4-5x. They are fast, sharp, have very natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, and the sealing is a bonus for those like us, who shoot a lot of exteriors. Hopefully Irix will soon offer something in the 65mm-85mm range so we can relegate our current short telephoto to the B camera lens set.

[T2.6] I really enjoy this lens. The look of the image is sharp and feels amazing. The build is tanky. No regrets.

[86 mm] I recently purchased the IRIX 45mm, 150mm, and this 15mm the color from all the lenses seem to match very well. This lens has very little distortion for being such a wide lens.
