Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i hook this to an amp and powered subwoofer at tbe same time

A: It depends on the powered sub woofer. The DAC has just stereo left an right outputs, so it really does not behave like an A/V receiver that has a dedicated sub out. Rather, you would use a powered sub that has full-range left and right inputs, which would pass through the internal crossover, which is typically variable, and then pass thru a full range l/r signal output that you can then feed to your amp,

Q: 2. can RME ADI 2 DAC be powerful enough to drive Audeze lcd 3?

A: No it is not. The built-in headphone amplifier provides low THD values even with 32- or 16-Ohm headphones,

Q: 3. Will KORG DS-DAC-100m Mobile 1Bit USB-DAC work effectively with zoom?

A: Yes, but there are a few steps you will need to go through first since the Korg DS-DAC-100m is for converting recorded WAV and MP3 audio files to DSD. The combined audio and video from a Zoom meeting is saved as MP4 format and the audio only is saved as M4A format. You would need to convert the Zoom files from M4A to either MP3 or WAV first and then you will be able to use the DS-DAC-100m to convert the recorded audio files to DSD.

Q: 4. Does this device require additional amplification prior to the main amp?

A: The Korg DS-DAC-10R 1-Bit USB Digital-to-Audio Converter would not require any additional amplification.

Q: 5. Will the use of a quality Y-Splitter cable (1/8 male to twin females) greatly affect the preamp's output quality & efficiency to each headphone? Can the slight signal level loss be well compensated just by raising the volume control?

A: If you are using a quality cable designed for splitting headphones it should be wired correctly and the main concern would be signal loss. This can be compensated for with volume. You would want to ensure the headphones impedances are still within the capabilities of the unit.

Q: 6. I would use this for the dac for a cd player , Can I also input a amplifier for using the headphone portion as well ?

A: The RME ADI-2 DAC FS Ultra-Fidelity PCM/DSD 768 kHz DA Converter accepts digital input connections for converting to analog outputs. A CD player with digital outputs could potentially be connected in this manner.

Q: 7. Is this RME ADI2 DAC the updated version that comes with the AK4493 AKM decoder?

A: Yes. This comes with the most recent AK4493 upgrade.

Q: 8. What are the differences between this unit and their Pro version that costs $1999?

A: The ADI-2 Pro FS R model two balanced headphone outs, two analog combo XLR/TRS 1/4-inch inputs, optical SPDIF I/O that also understands ADAT, and coaxial SPDIF (RCA) and AES I/O (XLR) via an included breakout cable. These features make the Pro model more versatile and capable of being a high fidelity audio interface for a computer. The ADI2 DAC FS is an excellent DAC, with all of the DSP , equalization and digital to analog audio conversion quality you would expect from RME, but does not have the analog inputs or other extra features mentioned above.

Q: 9. Can i use the xlr outputs to my Mcintosh c47 preamp even though it has a built in preamp?

A: Unfortunately not, if you use the XLR outputs, there is no way to bypass the preamps and connecting 2 preamps in series will generate feedback and low frequency rumble.

Q: 10. Does this digitize analog? How if not digital output? Analog I/O 2 x RCA Line Input 2 x 1/4" (6.3 mm) TRS Balanced Line Output Digital I/O None

A: If I understand your question correctly, the answer is res it does indeed digitize analog. It takes your analog in and converts it to digital and utilizes the USB to interface the 24bit / 96kHz digital signal with your Mac or PC Computer. Other than the USB for digital, It does not sport another digital input/output such as optical, hence why Digital I/O is None.

[2 (at 192 kHz)] This works and enables streaming SACD to an external DAC via HDMI. It is plug and play between my Oppo 105 and Holo Audio May DAC. Highly recommended.

[2 (at 192 kHz)] Finally have a way to use the HDMI audio out from my OPPO UDP-205. I run it through the D.BOB, and then into my Denafrips Hermes DDC, which is then connected via I2S to my Denafrips Pontus ii DAC. The sound is amazing. I am listening to SACD/DSD and it is fabulous. Great solution for this need.

[AC Input] Excellent piece of audio gear. The D.BOB works just as stated by the manufacturer. It's awesome listening to my SACD's via my SONY UBP-X1100ES HDR 4K UHD Blu-Ray player and my external SMSL-SU8 DAC! Setup was a breeze. Great job GeerFab!

[AC Input] The DAC and clock in this unit is the best I've heard. They work very well with the 8330a pair w/sub, much better than my Schiit Bifrost 2 did. I'm able to calibrate the Genelecs using GLM for room accuracy, then use the RME to add a bit more base for fun, or easily adjust the panning slightly to compensate for some hearing lose in my right ear. Those functions are much less convenient to access through GLM, but now I can set them with a remote control on the RME.

[Desktop] I got this as an upgrade to the iFi Zen DAC and WH-1000XM4 combination. I paired it up with some Focal Radiance cans and I couldn't be happier!!! I bought this DAC for its versatility and I LOVE all the options available. As many YouTube reviewers have said, the menu getting to those options is rough, but once you get your settings dialed, in you don't touch them anyway. The EQ let me dial the bass, mids, and treble just like I wanted them. Once the Radiance's burned in, the sound was incredible. But I found myself looking for even more enhancement and I found it in the roon audio player. I had been using Audirvana and was instantly blown away at how much better roon sounded. I subscribed right away and anyone reading this should too.

So I got three upgrades to my previous setup in less than a week. This DAC easily blows away the Zen DAC in sound quality with more options. The Radiance cans have so much clarity over the XM4's I was using and roon was the finishing touch. This is my first DAC near this price point and I can't recommend it enough!!!

[3.205 lb] I've only used it as a headamp so far, but given how precisely this was made, I imagine it would be just as great as a DAC. The sound is crisp without being overly analytical. Warmer than I'd expected with richness in the lower frequencies. Beautiful display. There are a few competitors with slightly better objective performance, but it's all sub-audible. This one blows them away in features.

[2 (at 192 kHz)] I rarely use the phrase blown away, but that came to mind when I started using the RME ADI-2 DAC FS, paired with a Sennheiser 560S. The clarity and separation was significantly better than any DAC I've used before (which have all cost less than the RME ADI-2). I use it mainly with headphones, but have hooked it up with my legacy amp and tower speakers (HK and Polk), with excellent results. I will hold off a bit on upgrading my system thanks to the RME. In short, I think the RME ADI-2 is in a sweet spot when it comes to performance and price; it's not cheap, but you get a superb DAC.
I should mention that I had an issue with my first RME ADI-2. After a few hours of use it gave an error message: Overload/short detected, phones deactivated. This seems to indicate a problem with the motherboard, and the only remedy is to send it back to the manufacturer. Not sure how common this is, but B&H made sure I had a replacement unit within 48 hours- excellent support! - and no issues with the new unit.

[12 VDC] Can't understand why users and some reviewers give this fantastic little dac such low scores. Just because the software is not so good? For me it is all about the sound and here this little unassuming USB DAC excels like no other I have heard. Upmix everything to DSD 1x or 2x and use the ASIO driver via JRiver and you have perfect (and I mean PERFECT) sound. Just add decent components downstream to appreciate what this baby has to offer. I cannot recommend this product any higher - very well done Korg, and thank you. BTW, the little sibling namely the DS-DAC-100m is just as capable sound wise. I have both and use the 100 in my main system and the 100m in my office. The HP output is pretty good also for most cans.
