Designed to be the audiophile-quality centerpiece of a mobile recording setup, the Apogee Duet 3 USB-C Audio Interfaceis a 2x4 USB-C audio interface bringing Apogee's legendary sonic performance and intuitive operability to an ultracompact, elegant, and durable form factor for musicians, producers, and songwriters in pursuit of their best sound no matter where they are. While the low-profile exterior combines an aluminum base with a Gorilla Glass top to make it durable and attractive, the internals boast built-in hardware DSP to power the optional Symphony ECS Channel Strip plug-in for signal sculpting and polishing without bogging down your computer or iOS device.

It features two world-class microphone preamps with phantom power and plenty of gain to ensure robust amplification even for low-output ribbons and classic dynamics such as the Shure SM7B. It can also accept line-level signals or direct connections from instruments such as electric guitar and bass. With two balanced analog 1/4" TRS line/monitor outputs and a stereo 3.5mm headphone output, the Duet 3 can feed a set of monitors and your favorite headphones at the same time. The main and headphone outputs are independently addressable, giving the flexibility to route separate mixes to an artist in the studio, a performer onstage, or a house PA system.

Q: 1. What's the release date?

A: These are available for pre-order now. At the moment we do not have a specific ETA for arrival time.

Q: 2. Is this just a generic USB mini cable?

A: It is a dedicated, proprietary USB cable designed for these products only.

Q: 3. Is this something you can plug studio monitors into and use to control volume?

A: While the Audient EVO 4 Desktop 2x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface will connect to studio monitors for audio output and volume control, this is limited to its functionality while acting as an interface to a DAW. For a studio monitor selector and volume controller, we recommend BH #MABKPSMC Mackie Big Knob Passive Studio Monitor Controller: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1313074-REG/mackie_big_knob_passive_studio.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 4. Will it work with usb-a ports using a usb-c to usb-a adapter?

Q: 5. can this device when connected to an ipad with Logic Pro, open two seperate channels for recording at the same time?

Q: 6. Does the green signal/clip indicator LED glow from dim to bright as the signal level increases?

A: The LED will light up green when an input signal is recognized, and red if the signallevel is too high which may cause distortion or “clipping”. THe green level does not change from dim to bright.

A: Yes, the Apogee Electronics Symphony Desktop 10x14 USB Audio Interface can be used with DaVinci Resolve.

Q: 8. Does this work with the new iPad mini? I'm talking about 2021's "mini 6" which has USB C.

A: No, the Rode AI-1 Studio-Quality USB Audio Interface is not compatible for use with iOS devices such as the iPad Mini. This interface requires a computer running macOS 10.10 or later, or Windows 7 OS or later for operation.

Q: 9. 1) Will it work out of the box with the New MacBook Pro M1 Max ? 2) without buying the dock, you don't get xlr inputs correct ?

[48 V] I was nervous about purchasing this unit because of many online reviews indicating USB connectivity issues. However, these have been resolved with a firmware update. I got a deal on 2 of these elsewhere and have been very satisfied. The headphone amp and very low-noise preamp are really great for the price.

[1x Knob] These cables were very difficult to find - B&H had them at a fair price with super quick shipping, and they came in new condition and worked as advertised.

[1x USB-C] I know it sounds a bit weird, but the way that I use the audio interface and where it's placed had me wanting an audio interface with XLR inputs on the back of the unit. I originally bought a Scarlett 2i2, but returned it and got this instead. The smart gain is a nice touch, but I find myself manually adjusting gain anyways.

I wish it was a touch bit heavier, but hey, for the price, I enjoy it!

[1x USB-C] just replaced an audient iD14 with this (I had an old Duet some years ago). Easier interface and less clunky-looking.

[48 V] The AI-1 integrated with my Mac set up seamlessly. Unlike some older devices (such as the FastTrack Pro I upgraded from), the AI-1 can be control with the Mac OS X audio controls on your keyboard. The headphone amplifier works really well and the mic/quarter inch input delivers really high quality sound for home music recordings (using Logic Pro), podcast recordings and more recently Zoom calls.

I don't like desk clutter and this device is about the size of an Apple TV and connects through one cable which I run through my external monitor. One issue that the upgrade to Mac OS X Catalina fixed was that I would have to unplug and plug back in the audio interface, so my computer didn't automatically use my external monitor's audio. However, that is no longer an issue.

Another small issue, that seemed to be fixed with the upgrade to Catalina, was that I would hear a very faint radio signal in my headphones, but it didn't impact my recordings at all.

Finally, I have this AI-1 connected to a pair of JBL monitor speakers through the balanced line outs on the back of the unit. The audio output is incredible.

If you're looking for a minimalist, high-quality USB audio interface, the AI-1 is an excellent choice.

[24-Bit] At first glance you will just fall in love with how this interface looks.

with an all black design and a scratch resistant glass on top this is a thing of beauty. This whole design by apogee resembles apple's design Philosophy and it fits perfectly on your desk next to your mac . But the beauty of this device lies in the knob. Its clicky and extremely tactile delivering a luxurious-feel for dialing in monitor levels and mic pre gain. It also has meters on the front which shows audio level while playback and recording. Btw did i mention this knob glows.. Now enough of me drooling over the design lets talk about the ports. So the ports are available via the breakout cable with

2x Mic/line inputs

2x " Instrument inputs

2x " Balanced outputs

2 USB Type C ports and one 0 ohms headphone output which means you get the best performance with any headphone available today, regardless of headphone impedance

[1x Knob] I upgraded my Apogee Element 24 to this new Symphony Desktop interface. The first thing I noticed was the quality of the headphone preamp.
I don't have a well treated room in my apartment. So mixing with headphone(Sennheiser HD650 is my main workhorse) is my usual practice. Element 24 has a solid HP. But the HP on Symphony Desktop gives me even better details and clearer bottom end on frequency spectrum. Compared to Symphony Desktop, the HP on Element was a bit muddy at the bottom end. The sound stage is also noticeably wider with symphony desktop.
For mic preamp, I haven't done any comparison yet. I'll update this post when I have time to do it.

[24-Bit] I recently upgraded to this unit from the UA Twin. Apogees flagship converters in this little unit are amazing. Perfect unit for vocals or tracking single instruments. Definitely recommend.
