The MM-BSM-9 Binaural Omni-Directional Stereo Microphones with Shure Premium Holding Clips from Microphone Madness comes with premium windscreens and 360° rotating and detachable holding clips that can be used to attach the microphone to any mounting surface. Each microphone element is mounted into durable brass capsules. Six feet of high-quality shielded microphone cable exits the rear of each capsule and terminates into a gold-plated 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plug.

The microphones measure smaller than an eraser head of a pencil and yet produce a naturally crisp sound with deep bass, smooth mid-range, and clean high-range with a typical frequency response of +/-2dB. The microphones can be easily plugged into any Minidisc, DAT or analog recorder that supplies a bias voltage of between 1.5 to 10VDC at the microphone input jack.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What adapter would be required to connect the DPA microphones to a Zoom F3?

A: To connect the DPA Microphones 4560 CORE Binaural Headset Microphone to the XLR inputs on the Zoom F3 Recorder you will need to implement two DPA Microphones DAD6001 Microdot to 3-Pin XLR Adapter with Belt Clip (BH #DPDAD6001BC) (belt clip is removable): https://bhpho.to/35LfsvP

Q: 2. Could this be a solution if we want to capture a voice with it and send it via a radio transmitter? By using for example two DAD6034 and a Y adapter cable (mini-jack splitter) to connect everything to the wireless transmitter? If the transmitter only supports one input, we will lose stereophony, but this is not essential in our case. We want to use them instead of a lav mic (camouflage+no rustle).

A: The DPA Microphones 4560 CORE Binaural Microphone is not a good choice for a mic to use with a wireless transmitter since it has two separate output connectors and requires 5 to 10V. A wireless microphone transmitter like one from Sennheiser accepts only one input and sends a mono audio signal to the receiver. What you could do is connect the mic to separate channels on a mixer and then send the left and right audio from the mixer wirelessly to two receivers to maintain the stereophony.

Q: 3. I lost my original foam wind screen on my MV88, will this still work without it or is that required? (I don't know where to get a replacement).

A: This is the replacement wind screen for your Shure this is a B&H part number B&H # SHAMV88FUR.

Q: 4. What type of microphone is recommended for Neumann KU 100?

A: The KU 100 dummy head ships complete with a microphone built into each ear for binaural recording. The unit ships with a 5 pin to dual 3 pin XLR output cable and can be powered via its included AC adapter, AA batteries or phantom power.

Q: 5. Will this fit the new MV88+ microphone by Shure?

A: Yes it will

Q: 6. does it come standard with the central 5/8" to 3/8" adapter as in the picture?

A: Yes. The left and right mic positions are 3/8'' male threads. The center that connects to the mic stand is 5/8'' female.

Q: 7. How much handling noise (breathing, swallowing, wind, etc) is there with these? Also, what kind of gain boost do they require in a pre-amp, and how noisy do they get?

A: The human head in itself is a resonance chamber, and due to the mounting position of the BSM-8, users may be vulnerable to unwanted noises produced by heavy breathing, swallowing, etc. The degree of pickup varies among individuals, and how noticeable it is in the recording is highly dependent on the noise floor. Microphone Madness does make the MM-EBM-1 power/filter unit. This inline battery module provides a 7-position bass roll-off switch, allowing you to filter various degrees of bass content (i.e. wind noise) from the sound to be recorded. The module also provides a little over 9 VDC enabling the microphone to handle higher SPL (sound pressure levels), thereby increasing dynamic range to ensure superior performance.

Q: 8. Work fine with a sennheiser lavalier me ii

A: Yes, the WindTech TC-7 can be used with the ME2-II and will hold the mic by its cable. As another option, the Sennheiser Replacement Mic Clip for the ME2 and ME2-II Wireless Lavalier Microphone (B&H # SE564565).holds the mic by its casing.

Q: 9. Would this be resistant enough if you were recording rain sounds and its being hit by the rain?

A: Yes the DPA4560 is resistant to high levels of humidity and water, but for the best performance you should try to keep it dry if you can.

Q: 10. can I use these on my D5100 ?

A: The Microphone Madness BSM-8 is compatible with the Nikon D5100. The BSM-8 features a stereo 3.5mm jack for direct connection to the camera.

[0.2 lb] I've not really tested extensively but there is no doubt that the windjammer is a welcome accessory for the MV88. The reduction in wind noise is excellent and the fit over the mics is snug and secure. A bit pricey but in my opinion well worth the cost. And, with a tiny bit of patience, the windjammer will fold up and fit inside the supplied MV88 case. Perfect!

[0.2 lb] Got this to Zoom livestream an outdoor event. Allowed speakers to be heard surprisingly well from a fair distance even with a breeze (mic gain was turned up all the way). With a gust of wind you can still hear a little wind noise, but for my application it worked great. Looking forward to testing in more polished videos.

[0.2 lb] If you want to record someone out in the open without them knowing you are recording them--this is the product for you. You can put them in your ears, or drape them across your shoulders. You can even hold the recording device in your hands, or have it obvious in your shirt pocket. The person standing across from you thinks that you have taken a break from listening to music. The BEST!!!

[20 to 20,000 Hz] ive had my DPA D:Fine for a 3 years now and love it. I didnt realize how picky I could be about mic clips but this one is the best mic clip hands down. Its easy to press, well-designed (wider up top to press), and soft to place on your shirt. Most mic clips are that generic thin metal piece and it works, but i dont care for it - it feels generic.

I prefer this clip as its easier to use, looks great, and feels a bit more polished. The plastic piece that clips to the wire broke, but thats after 3 years for me of every Sunday use.

[0.2 lb] If you search for other mic clips (whatever brand), they usually run about $10 for one! Here, it's $12 for 5, admittedly, one item that DPA actually sells for cheaper than anyone else. I actually prefer these clips more than the metal clips you see in other brands. This is easy to clip on and off. Great design, functionality, and price. I use these clips for various brands (Shure, Point Source Audio, and DPA mics). They just work great!

[20 to 20,000 Hz] The TC-7 tie clips are working magnificently for our middle school tv studio. It is an easier connection device for my students and I'm positive that they will last longer as a result.

[0.2 lb] If you are recording outdoors, get this. It fits well over the foam windscreen that is included with the microphone. If you remove one of the foam inserts in the microphone case (they're just glued in) you can put the mic away in the egg shaped case with the windjammer on.
