The M-70 doesn't require batteries or phantom power to operate. Just plug it in, set your levels, and go to work.

The M-70 features a durable all-metal construction that ensures if the mic is dropped or bumped, it will survive the rigors of the road or stage.

The balanced XLR output ensures that you won't pick up unwanted static or hum from interference into the signal path.

The M-70's cardioid polar pattern rejects off-axis sound and focuses on the sound directly in front of the mic capsule. This helps prevent feedback in a live room with a PA system and rejects the audio-bleed from speakers while focusing on your voice or instrument.

The M-70 captures sound with a 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and is designed to capture the nuances of your voice or instrument in full detail.

The M-70 microphone's tapered shape, rounded grille, and gray matte finish is built with a classic, natural look.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does it permit the use of a 3.5 input socket to a Camcorder or DSLR camera ?

A: You may be able to use this mic with a camcorder or DSLR (providing that the impedance is within range -- check your camera manual for mic input impedance specs). However, due to its transformerless design, this mic may introduce noise or hum into the recorded audio.

Q: 2. Would I be able to use a XLR-TO-USB SIGNAL ADAPTER with this mic to record directly into my laptop? Thinking a Blue Microphones Icicle XLR to USB Mic Converter/Mic Preamp or a SHURE X2U XLR-TO-USB SIGNAL ADAPTER would work for this?

A: Either of these adapters will work, however, the Icicle has been discontinued, and the Shure is much better quality.

Q: 3. Does it require phantom power?

A: The PreSonus PD-70 does not require phantom power.

Q: 4. I understand it's a dynamic mic, but is the switch quiet even if I need to have phantom power on for other mics?

A: Yes the Sennheiser e835S has a silent switch. It's also a good sounding mic that you would expect to pay a bit more for.

Q: 5. Does this microphone put out a balanced signal?

A: I have a Pyle PDM MIC 58 which essentially the same mic as this one. The mic does not come wired as a balanced mic but I found this video where you can perform a simple mod. Go to youtube and search for Pyle PDMIC78 Microphone - SM-57 Knockoff it's posted by a guy named Bob H.If you are making a short run (less than 20 feet) to your mixer or input source, you may not even need to balance it though. I have been using mine with the supplied 15 foot xlr to 1/4 mono cable and it sounds great into my Zoom H1 recorder. This is a great value and instead of everyone asking why this is so much less than the Shure SM57, the question should be why is the SM57 so expensive?I have one of these in my cart and will be getting one with my next order to go along with the PD MIC 58.

Q: 6. does this microphone require phantom power?

A: No, it is a dynamic mic

Q: 7. Can we use PreSonus PD-70 for record/singing YouTube videos?

A: The PD-70 is intended for use in broadcast applications, but more for speaking than singing. If the primary application is singing, you may want to consider a microphone designed for singing, like the Shure SM58-LC Vocal Microphone (B&H # SHSM58LC) or Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Handheld Dynamic Microphone (B&H # SEE835) which are both good for performance and recording, or the Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone (B&H # AUAT2035) or AKG Project Studio P220 Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone (B&H # AKP220B) which are large diaphragm condenser mics for studio and live performance. B&H has a vast selection of microphones so please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 8. will this work with the ProFX12v2 sound board?

A: This can connect to the ProFX12v2 mixer via an XLR cable.

Q: 9. Would this work with an iPad for Google Hangouts? Having issues with low volume pickup with the built-in microphone.

A: I haven't used it for the ipad yet but it works beautifully with my iphone.

Q: 10. I was wondering if this would work with the ATW-R3100b receiver?

A: The Audio-Technica ATM610a/S requires a cable to operate. This mic has no wireless capability built in. The Audio Technica 3000 series requires a wireless handheld transmitter such as the ATW-T371b. Available in multiple frequencies to match 3000 series receivers currently available. [End Address] I received this mic from BH Photo in exchange for my honest review. Upon opening the box I realized right away that this was a well built microphone. The mic has a hefty weight to it and the all metal construction feels like this microphone can take years of use and survive the drops and bumps that go along with using a handheld microphone. I find that the sound is a bit flatter than other boomy or super crisp mics that I have used and compared this microphone to. I happen to like the flat sound on my voice. I also find that this mic is not as susceptible to plosives as other handheld dynamic mics that I have used in the past such as the Pyle-PDMIC58 and Samson Q2U. I added a Windtech 900 series foam windscreen to this mic, as I do for all handheld dynamic mics, and I can close talk this mic for podcasting and it performs great! The cardioid polar pattern is ideal for using this mic in a non-studio environment and does a great job at reducing unwanted room noises and echo. The switch one the handle is quiet when flipped and also contains a tightening screw to make it more difficult to accidentally activate the switch while in use. The mic comes a high quality XLR to 1/4 inch cable as well as a mounting clip that is threaded for a 5/8” mount. If you want to hear this mic in action, Search for my channel “Tech Mundane” on YouTube.

[Cardioid] I used the Polsen M85-B to track some vocals in my home studio, with great results, but where this microphone shines is in a live performance. The build quality is rugged and I believe it would be strong enough to see some rough use. Vocals are crisp and clear. XLR perfect for most setups.

I received this product in exchange for my honest review.

[Solid-State] Haven't compared to SM58 yet, but hope it holds its own.

[1.435 lb] For such a LOW price point, this mic has surprising crystal clarity when recording vocals. Plus it looks/feels like a much more expensive mic than what it is. The included clip & cable make for a nice bundle.

[End Address] Hefty and substantial. Probably worth 3 times what it cost. Not as bright as an SM-58 but that can be adjusted in production. I have done professional sound in many capacities for over 45 years with all manner of equipment from Radio Shack on up to $5000 microphones. I can not imagine any average use for this microphone that it would not meet or exceed your expectations. Do not let the price fool you. An A+ value on an A microphone. Bought as a talk back mike from the booth to the stage but suitable for the stage if there are no equipment riders.

[End Address] There is only one point people should consider this mic is the best option in price range, the crisp audio you can record with this model, cant say any point for not buying a mic like this one, the only not real con is the clip is not coming with 1/4 or 3/8 adapter, im cosidering buy the 3-pack option.
