The M-85 features a frequency response that's tailored for vocals and speech. The midrange frequencies are slightly boosted for intelligibility and vocal texture. The bass roll-off prevents rumble and low-frequency room noises from affecting your performance or recording.

This microphone can take a beating and is designed for the demands of the road and live stage performance. The durable all-metal construction ensures that if the mic is dropped, it can survive without damage.

The on/off switch quickly mutes the microphone for those moments when you're saying something you don't want the audience to hear.

The M-85 doesn't require batteries or phantom power to operate. Just plug it in, set your levels, and go to work.

The balanced XLR output ensures you won't pick up unwanted interference such as static and hum that can bring noise into the signal path.

The cardioid polar pattern rejects off-axis sound and focuses the sound directly in front of the microphone capsule. This helps prevent feedback in a live room with a PA system and rejects the audio-bleed from speakers while focusing on your voice or instrument.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this microphone put out a balanced signal?

A: I have a Pyle PDM MIC 58 which essentially the same mic as this one. The mic does not come wired as a balanced mic but I found this video where you can perform a simple mod. Go to youtube and search for Pyle PDMIC78 Microphone - SM-57 Knockoff it's posted by a guy named Bob H.If you are making a short run (less than 20 feet) to your mixer or input source, you may not even need to balance it though. I have been using mine with the supplied 15 foot xlr to 1/4 mono cable and it sounds great into my Zoom H1 recorder. This is a great value and instead of everyone asking why this is so much less than the Shure SM57, the question should be why is the SM57 so expensive?I have one of these in my cart and will be getting one with my next order to go along with the PD MIC 58.

Q: 2. The specs state that the "Circuitry" is "solid state" but if it is a dynamic microphone without transistors or ICs then there are no solid state devices, just wires. What exactly does the "circuitry" consist of?

A: There are no active electronics in this microphone. Just a magnet and a voice coil.

Q: 3. Does this record in stereo

A: This is not a stereo microphone, it only gives out a mono signal.

Q: 4. Is it a wireless microphone or does it have to be attached to a karaoke machine?

A: Standard mic (3 pin).... Great buy for the $.

Q: 5. I was wondering if this would work with the ATW-R3100b receiver?

A: The Audio-Technica ATM610a/S requires a cable to operate. This mic has no wireless capability built in. The Audio Technica 3000 series requires a wireless handheld transmitter such as the ATW-T371b. Available in multiple frequencies to match 3000 series receivers currently available. Please see the following link: http://bhpho.to/1hyrOYU

Q: 6. does it permit the use of a 3.5 input socket to a Camcorder or DSLR camera ?

A: You may be able to use this mic with a camcorder or DSLR (providing that the impedance is within range -- check your camera manual for mic input impedance specs). However, due to its transformerless design, this mic may introduce noise or hum into the recorded audio.

Q: 7. Would this work with an iPad for Google Hangouts? Having issues with low volume pickup with the built-in microphone.

A: I haven't used it for the ipad yet but it works beautifully with my iphone.

Q: 8. Does this device work with Samsung S7 mobile phone? Is the sound quality equivalent to CD Quality?

A: Yes, you should have no problems using this microphone via a Samsung S7 - I use it with my iPhone 6s. The sound quality is better than replay of a CD. Of course, the ultimate sound quality can also be determined by the recording software you use.

Q: 9. will this work with the ProFX12v2 sound board?

A: This can connect to the ProFX12v2 mixer via an XLR cable.

Q: 10. Can all three connections be used simultaneously?

A: Yes you can use the USB output and the XLR output at the same time on the Polsen DM-USX1.

[Gray] The design is incredible and the weight of the mic is perfect.
Considerably one of the most flexible and perhaps the best dynamic mic considering the price and it's charming features. I did a hefty research prior to purchasing a mic. Looked into various sites, different reviews, and expertise opinions on every microphone out there and ultimately encountered the SE Electronics V7 microphone. Many reps will make a simple, unattractive recommendation as saying Shure SM58 or any industry standard (Senheiser, AKG, Audio-Technica, etc). Many reps are not aware of SE Electronics nor its V7 microphone. This mic will be the replacement for the industry standard when noticed by more consumers. The packaging I can say was absolutely professional and attractive with its detailed features on there and the design and proper packaging feeling as if I had bought a brand new Apple product. SE Electronics is absolutely impressive. I will be utilizing this mic for vocals for myself and a female vocalist in our band. This will feature a clean voice and an upgraded performance result. I will bet that your investment on this V7 microphone will be a game changer and a much different reality of the audio world.

[On/Off] Hefty and substantial. Probably worth 3 times what it cost. Not as bright as an SM-58 but that can be adjusted in production. I have done professional sound in many capacities for over 45 years with all manner of equipment from Radio Shack on up to $5000 microphones. I can not imagine any average use for this microphone that it would not meet or exceed your expectations. Do not let the price fool you. An A+ value on an A microphone. Bought as a talk back mike from the booth to the stage but suitable for the stage if there are no equipment riders.

[1.945 lb] For such a LOW price point, this mic has surprising crystal clarity when recording vocals. Plus it looks/feels like a much more expensive mic than what it is. The included clip & cable make for a nice bundle.

[On/Off] It's an amazing microphone. The build is very durable, the body is solid and the grill doesn't give or dent when a decent amount of force is put on it. The sound as well is fantastic; it doesn't need a lot of EQ and can be used for recording as well for live performance. A pop filter or a foam windscreen is needed though as the built-in foam doesn't work the best. I can't recommend it enough especially for the price.

[End Address] I used the Polsen M85-B to track some vocals in my home studio, with great results, but where this microphone shines is in a live performance. The build quality is rugged and I believe it would be strong enough to see some rough use. Vocals are crisp and clear. XLR perfect for most setups.

I received this product in exchange for my honest review.

[Solid-State] For when there is a little noise, I wanted a condenser with a hyper cardioid pattern. but those really cost. This is well past your SM58 or E835 at the high end, and the low is good at 6inches. The bright/not-harsh high end is incredible, and it is detailed like the RodeNT1 I usually use. I'm loving this thing.
