Use this sharkfin-style Core SWX Dual V-Mount Battery Plate for RED DSMC2 Camerasfrom Core SWX Dual V-Mount Battery Plate for RED DSMC2 Camerasto power your RED DSMC2 camera using two high-capacity V-mount batteries. Its integrated cable measures 18" in length and features a 6-Pin LEMO-Type connector to power the camera using unregulated 11 to 17 VDC output.

The plate features an integrated 15mm LWS rod clamp to mount quickly and easily onto your rig. It also features one 11 to 17 VDC D-Tap output to power a wide variety of accessories. The battery plate allows your batteries to be hot-swappable, so you can change out one of the battery packs while the other continues to power your equipment.

A: Any v-mount battery will adapt to the following plate.

Q: 2. Does this unit actually power the camera and how is that connection made?

A: Yes it powers the camera through a small cable that connects to the DC in port in the back of the camera. You can still have a small sony battery in the camera so it actually becomes hot swappable :)

Q: 3. Does the D-Tap, Limo and USB get their power from the camera, if it were plugged into mains? Or do they all get their power from the V-Mount?

A: All of the Core SWX Battery Plate for RED KOMODO's (V-Mount) power ports would draw power form the connected v-mount battery.

A: The Core SWX Battery Plate for RED KOMODO (V-Mount) does have fuses that would protect your camera.

Q: 5. Does the 4 pin XLR power input feed the D-tap outputs as well? I would have a monitor plugged into the P-tap.

A: It does not. That is a power input, not an output.

Q: 6. Will this mount work with the SmallRig VB50 Mini V-Mount Battery (50Wh)?

A: The Core SWX Micro Hot-Swap Dual V-Mount Battery Plate does not list incompatible batteries.

Q: 7. Does the D-tap output also have hot swap capabilities? I want to power something but not with the V bracket on the mount

A: The Core SWX Micro Hot-Swap Dual V-Mount Battery Plate is designed to hot swap with batteries, and does not have another power input to provide power to the camera if both batteries are removed from the plate. Since the batteries aren’t ‘stacked’ on one another, you can easily remove the depleted battery while leaving the other battery connected so that there is no down time.

Q: 8. Can you use multiple outputs simultaneously or just one at a time? I want to power my Sony FS7 and a monitor with just one v-mount battery.

A: Yes you can. This will connect directly to the FS7 for power and has D-Tap power ports you can use to power accessories from.

[8 x 4.9 x 3.2"] Works great. Unlike what is described in an earlier review, the adapter automatically switch from battery to external power when a 12V power source is plugged into the 4-pin XLR. If the 4-pin XLR is disconnected, then the camera reverts automatically to battery power. There is no power interruption at all. 5

[8 x 4.9 x 3.2"] I've used this once so far on a commercial shoot and found it to be reliable and well made. I Like the rigid mounting, something that's missing from the Wooden Camera model. I feel like this gives a better consistent feel when operating and held, and prevents shifting weight for Steadicam setups. It acts as an integral part of the camera. I didn't have any issues with the power dropping out like the last reviewer because I had the FX9's included BP series battery installed. That allows for hot swaps and protects from batteries dropping out. Plus the Core Batteries and others usually have a power status that makes it too easy to monitor the remaining battery life. After three days of shooting the BP battery still had about 60% power. And if your adventurous, you could easily have a machinist add a few Lemo/Brand-X power connectors on the side. 5

Slim, flexible, awesome quality and gives me possibility to use the v-mount without rods and accessories. Easy to attach to the body. Enough with connections to run additional monitor and other equipment. To sum up, put it in your basket. You will not be disappointed! 5

[Connector] There seem to be a myriad of ways to power the FS7. You have the stock Sony batteries, V-Mount, the Sony extension unit, various plate options and this guy. It fits snugly to the camera and looks like it belongs on there. It is well designed and not too heavy. It would be nice if it was completely sealed from the elements, but you would really need to be in a sketchy environment to get anything into it- a small portion of the back is not sealed. The only downside is that it won't transmit time remaining on your battery to the camera as hours and minutes, It sends that info as volts, since it uses the DC input on the back of the camera for power. 5

[V-Mount] I chose this plate after quite a bit of research and with the knowledge that it is Red Approved, unlike many other options. I'd read a few accounts of defects, but decided to see for myself. I definitely made the right decision. I've had no issues whatsoever after about 100 hours on set, and probably 50 hours of recreational shooting. The plate is tight to the camera and keeps the battery secure even when pressing it against my chest for extra stability when handheld. I'd have preferred another d tap port, but most batteries have at least one on them. 5
