[4.615 lb] This is a great addition to my lighting kit, and allows me to lift some of my larger modifiers and flashes without the base stand getting in the way of where I want to position my camera. I wasn't sure I'd use it much, but it has become a staple for my main light support, particularly in portrait photography. My heaviest setup is about 10lbs and it has no problem handling that load.

[Aluminum] Useful when rigging overhead. This plus 2x4s and safety chains; what more do you need?

[Aluminum] Researched boom setups extensively and settled on this one. Couldn't have been more happy with my choice. I needed to hang a Mathews Magic finger, Elinchrom Quadra and a Beauty dish or 53 Octa box. Wanted something that would not bend in the arm or not be finicky to adjust in the field. This Boom arm is so good that I have no issues using it both in studio and on-location. The boom can easily hold the above setup at any angle or extension. Coupled with a steel Avenger Stand I have no need for a counterweight, even in the field. I still sandbag the base of the stand. This is a great boom, rock solid, and easy to adjust. It should have a lifetime of decades. It is heavy, but worth every penny.

[Yes] I use this for general photography, portraits, etc. I use it on a Matthews Hollywood Baby Jr. Triple Riser Stand. So it is incredibly strong and so easy to move around, just makes using the boom that much easier to use. The Matthews Baby Boom gives me the ability to get my lights and softbox up high, or put my light anywhere I need it to achieve the effect I want. The Matthews Baby Boom is very well made, and it has a great finish on all the parts. All the sections are very strong and well made, with rubber buffers between each section or stop. Boom extends to 7' and balances very well on the stand, also the large handles lock down and won't move after that, very nice. The tilt locking handle in the center is big and locks in place with absolutely no slop or play, this is a very nice boom. I really can't think of anything, or any feature that this Boom falls short on, I love it. I decided a while back that I wanted equipment that would last and grow with me, and I wanted to do it right the first time. I am totally impressed and satisfied with Matthews equipment, and the Baby Boom. This item just is extremely nice, I would recommend it to anyone that is looking to add a little more flexibility to their lighting.

[3 Positions] Super strong No sagging as long as you keep the weight under the recommended amount.

[Aluminum] I read where others reviewed this as very smooth. It is. Handles my URSA G2 w AKS (7 TVLogic, Teradek, etc), no prob. Plus the counterbalance is great.

[Aluminum] I use to work with the Focus 101 and this is a slight upgrade to that. Very solid. I needed the ability to use with larger cameras when need so this is a great 100mm option

[3 Positions] Excellent accompaniment to the Matthews double riser or triple riser baby junior stands. The boom is a lot more solid than it looks in the picture. It will easily carry any light and modifier that you can put on it as long as it is counter balanced properly. My only wish is that it had a hook on the end for hanging weight such as the mini boom. However easily addable, the back end is thick steel and has a hole in it that can be easily tapped. Excellent boom, works perfectly and makes life a lot easier, especially when doing portraits.

[Yes] This tripod is awesome. It's such a huge step up from my previous tripod. I highly recommend this one.

[Aluminum] Does what it says. Hanging a medium sized chimera china ball has worked out great. I never have any issues with Matthews equipment.
