The Tokina 40mm T1.5 Cinema Vista Prime Lens, with an E mount and focus scales marked in feet, provides an image circle that more than covers full-frame sensors and is designed to provide sharp images, even when up to 8K resolution. This 40mm focal length lens shares the same form factor, lens gear position, focus rotation, and front barrel diameter as the other Tokina Cinema Vista prime lenses. This makes on-set lens changes a fast and efficient operation. It features a maximum T-stop of 1.5, useful when shooting in low-light situations or when you want to capture that exceedingly shallow depth-of-field look.

The 9-bladed iris provides round out-of-focus highlights for a natural-looking bokeh. The lens barrel features approximately 300° of rotation from close focus to infinity, giving you a high degree of precision when pulling focus. The lens is designed to minimize focus breathing, and it features geared manual focus and iris rings. Markings on both sides of the lens barrel make it readable from either side of the camera.

The 40mm T1.5 E mount prime lens can focus images on a sensor with full 8K resolution and features a 46.7mm image circle, which easily covers standard-sized full-frame sensors.

The use of a 9-blade iris produces a smooth round appearance to out-of-focus specular highlights. The iris also produces a pleasing bokeh, referring to natural-looking, out-of-focus areas of the image. The iris is manual and features smooth movement without click stops for smooth exposure adjustments while recording.

The lens has markings on both sides of the barrel, making it easy to read focus and aperture settings from behind or from either side of the camera.

The lens shares the same front diameter and gear positioning on the focus and iris rings as the other lenses in the series, making lens switching quick and convenient. Additionally, the focus ring features approximately 300º of smooth rotation to help facilitate consistently accurate focusing, especially when pulling focus during a shot.

The lens is designed to minimize variations in the angle of view while focusing, a phenomenon known as focus breathing. This feature is extremely important while pulling focus, especially on static shots where focus breathing is more noticeable.

The lens features threading on the front to accommodate 112mm screw-on filters. This feature allows the camera operator to add filters over the lens without taking up a filter stage in a matte box.

[T1.5] Think Canon cinema lenses are hype? Think again. This lens is a game changer. I have the 50mm L series f1.2 and this lens blows it away in sharpness, accuracy of focus and several other areas. Best purchase I've made for a while.

[Sony E] When I moved over into the Canon Cinema camera line, due to costs, I decided to go with the Rokinon cinema lenses. Initially, I thought they worked great and it was a definite upgrade from my previous setup. However after shooting with these lenses I can't even believe the difference. The color and clarity are unmatched – I even rented other lenses to compare (Zeiss, Xeen) and IMHO these Canon lenses blew them all away. They make skin tones just come to life and are sharp but not overly harsh. Worth every penny!

[Full Frame] This is my prime go-to lens on my Canon C-300. On the set of my short film, Jupiter's Legacy, my DP and I came back to this lens again and again. Coupled with the C-300's low light capabilities, the 1.5 allowed me to shoot primarily in lovely candlelight and torchlight. We successfully lit one scene with a single 15 watt Christmas Tree bulb. This lens is tack sharp and has great contrast. I love it. The first AC loved working with the smooth focus mechanism.

[112 mm] The only thing holding this lens back is the weight, but if you're used to using a heavier setup or ok with the lens possibly being heavier than the camera, this is an incredible lens. 16-28 is a nice wider angle range and it covers full frame cameras. Crisp all the way through.

[112 mm] My second Meike MFT lens, possibly even better than the first. Nice solid lens. Bokeh is smooth, but unobtrusive, as seen in the two photos from a Panasonic GH5S, one with focus point @ 2.5 meters, the other at 5 meters. Focus scales seem to be more accurate than the Zeiss CP 2 prime I've had for years.

[112 mm] I needed something longer than my 55 but shorter than my 85 so this is just right for me. Amazing wide open but I recommend a large production monitor to stay on top of the focus, DoF this shallow is gorgeous but you can't take your eye off it for a second.

[112 mm] I am in production now, using this lens and it's amazing, solid, sharp, yet naturally soft. I'm using it with the EOS C300 Mark II so in combination with the camera, it produces such a beautiful aesthetic straight out of the box. The lens is so well crafted. No breathing at all. It has a great weight to it. My first Canon Cine Prime Lens purchase and thus far, am totally satisfied. I will definitely be investing in more. The 35mm is a great choice for a first purchase as you can use this prime for so many applications. You could shoot an entire feature with just a 35mm if need be. I don't scoff at the price either. Artist's tools do cost. I'm a firm believer that you truly do get what you pay for.
