$476.97 $715.46

Purpose-built for podcasters and content creators on a limited budget, the Audio-Technica AT2040 Podcast Microphone Kit with Armbenefits from A-T's decades of expertise in constructing trusted microphones for the studio and stage. The AT2040 features a large-diaphragm dynamic capsule in a classic end-address configuration, just like traditional broadcast-style mics used by pros. Not only does the mic deliver a warm, yet robust vocal tone, but it also picks up minimal background noise and room reflections, thanks to its hypercardioid polar pattern.

By incorporating an internal multistage pop filter, the AT2040 is able to reduce vocal plosives—popping sounds from strong consonants such as 'p' and 'b'—without relying on an external pop screen. Additionally, the integrated shockmount helps prevent noise from stand handling and other vibrations while keep the overall size down. Due to its XLR 3-pin output connector and low sensitivity, the AT2040 should be used with a mic preamp that can provide moderate to high gain. Being a dynamic mic, it requires no batteries or phantom power.

[Solid-State] For the price. There might be nicer sounding mics, but not under $200.

[Hypercardioid] Bought this mic to replace a condenser mic that was picking up a lot of background noise. The hyper cardiod pattern on this mic is excellent on rejecting background noise and focusing pickup on my voice. Perfect for podcasting.

[End Address] I think the big difference is having a audio convertor connected to the product. I am just starting and i did find a lot of difference in having a usb connecting moano cartoid microphone and this. 2035 does provide a more complete recording experience according to me. XLR connection could be a reason as well, regardless I am happy with the purchase.

[End Address] I've been a VO actor for 6 years and knew I was in need of a new microphone. I was nervous about the way that my voice would sound on this mic without testing it myself, but I did my research and decided on this mic. I was so happy that this came in a bundle with things that I also wanted to buy and that the price was perfect. The whole thing was really easy to set up and I absolutely love how my voice sounds now in my recordings. Looking forward to booking more VO work.

[Solid-State] This is exactly what I needed to start my own podcast. It has all the equipment you need - mic + holder, stand, headphones, cables, pop filter, adapter, and the setup is easy.

I attached the stand to a bedside table, snapped on the pop filter, attached the mic holder to the arm, added the mic, connected the cables, and plugged the USB into my laptop and was ready to record. Paired with a free download of Audacity, this is all that you need to record and edit voice audio. Highly recommended.

[End Address] Bought this for voiceovers and it's quality is superb. It's reasonably priced and a solid piece of gear. Requires phantom power, but I bought a USB interface with it so I didn't have to rely on an external mixer. Highly recommend it to one and all.

[Hypercardioid] I've used the AT2035 many times before. Great for a VO mic but I also use it for live shows and events too.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. ...can I use 2 Shure MV7 on 1 computer connected via USB at the same time?

A: The computer will only recognize one USB mic. Since the MV7 provides both USB and XLR output, you can use a USB audio interface with two XLR mic inputs. The interface would then connect to the computer via USB enabling use of both mics at the same time.

Q: 2. Can I use my beats headphones with this mic?

A: The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone can be used with any wired headphones that have a 3.5mm connector. It cannot connect to wireless headphones.

Q: 3. What is the thread size on the mount connection? Will it fit with Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand?

A: The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone has a yoke mount with a 5/8" thread, which is the same thread size as the Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand, so they are directly compatible for use together.

Q: 4. How large is the capsule in the MV7, possible to get some specs?

A: Shure has not provided specs for the capsule used inside the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone.

Q: 5. why is the silver one cheaper than the black?

A: Sometimes items that are available in different color finishes can be priced differently. It's possible that we may have been able to get a better deal from Shure for a large quantity of the MV7 mics in the silver finish which would be why there is a lower sale price for the silver finish compared to the sale price for the black finish. The silver and black models are identical other than the color of the finish.

Q: 6. Want to use this with an XLR connected to a Zoom H5. Does the mic draw power from the Zoom?

A: The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is a dynamic microphone, so it does not require phantom power when connected via XLR.

Q: 7. why is the silver version cheaper than the black one?

A: B&H priced it that way, but silver and black are the same microphones just a different color. Black is more popular thats why price is a little higher. Hope this helps.

Q: 8. Is there an audio recorder that allows you to record 2 MV7s at the same time via the usb chords?

A: Currently there are no devices that would accept connections from multiple Shure MV7 Podcast Microphones using their USB outputs.

Q: 9. Is the USB bidirectional - e.g. can I hear other participants on ZOOM using just this device ? (I normally use an RME firewire Interface with 2 way audio and XLR mics)

A: Yes, the USB interface is bidirectional. When you set up the mic with your computer, select the MV7 as your audio input and audio output device in your computer's system preferences, and then you will be able to hear the audio with the other participants in your Zoom meeting when monitoring through the mic's headphone jack.

Q: 10. Just bought the MV7 - is it safe/recommended to just leave it plugged in to my PC's USB and be on at all times? Or should I plug/unplug as needed? Does it matter?

A: Yes, you can leave the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone connected to your computer at all times without causing damage to the mic or computer.
