This mic is perfect for recording directly to computers, be they mac or windows systems. With the right, separately available adapters, you can also record with Android and iOS devices.

Don't want to use a computer or a mobile device? Not a problem: the built-in recorder can hold up to 12 hours of wav files. This feature, combined with the rechargeable battery, allows for versatile and mobile operation.

The Tula features controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain—putting you in charge of every level of the recording process. Also on hand are controls for the built-in recorder as well as a button for the built-in noise-reduction. Literally everything you need to control is intuitively built into the microphone itself, so you don't have to fiddle with any software operations.

Choose Cardioid if it's just you speaking in an untreated room: cardioid polar patterns are a great natural defense against picking up unwanted room tone. If you're recording more people, or want a more honest, true-to-life sound, choose the omnidirectional polar pattern, which picks up audio equally all around the capsule.

The mic has an integrated headphone jack with an independent gain control for latency-free monitoring. Simply plug your headphones into the mic's 3.5mm input, and you'll hear your broadcast-quality audio in all its glory.

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. On the audio side, the two-capsule design ensures that whatever mode you choose, the mic will pick up a clear and present sound.

The Tula Mic can also be switched to 44.1 kHz for use with Akai MPC Series devices.

The Tula Mic is brought to you by the team behind the world-renowned Soyuz Microphones. Like Soyuz mics, the Tula features an open top end that's never harsh, a pleasant midrange, and a low end that's full without being boomy. Featuring Burr Brown op amps and dedicated cardioid and omni capsules, the Tula provides professional-quality audio in a wide variety of situations.

Just plug the Tula into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, select it as a device in your recording software, and you're ready to get to work. Or, hit the Record button on the side of the mic, and start recording without an external device. The mic runs either off buss power or built-in battery power: the choice is yours.

The Tula ships with an integrated stand for easy placement, but you can remove it if need be and attach the mic to any threaded stand with the commensurate connections.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would a Saramonic SR-C2001 3.5mm male to USB-C cable work to connect 3.5mm output on this mic directly to a DJI Osmo Action 4?

A: Yes, the Saramonic SR-C2001 3.5mm TRS Male to USB Type-C Adapter Cable will successfully connect from the 3.5mm TRS output of the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 Shotgun to the USB-C input of the DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera..

Q: 2. I bought this mic as my first boom, but I need a boom pole and all the reviews I read complain about poor quality. Can you rec a solid boom pole and boom pole holder for studio use that is moderately priced?

A: There are numerous boompoles that are good quality and compatible for use with the Deity S-Mic 2S such as the On-Stage MBP7000 Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ONMBP7000), Rode Boompole (B&H # ROBP), Rode Mini Boompole Compact Microphone Boom Pole (B&H # ROMBP), K-Tek KIP Graphite Interview Boompole (B&H # KTKIP), K-Tek KE-69 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE69), K-Tek KE-89 Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole (B&H # KTKE89), or the Cavision SGP525F 5-Section Mixed Fiber Boom Pole with Fixed Top (B&H # CASGP525) are all good options. For a boompole holder, you could use the Auray Boom Pole Holder ((B&H # AUBPH) with a grip head like the Impact Grip Head for Lights and Accessories - 2.5" Diameter (B&H # IMKCP200).

Q: 3. what foam windscreen is recommended for this? If i don't want to use the furry wind cover

A: There are no foam windscreens available separately that are specifically sized for the Deity Microphones V-Mic D4. You could try using the Auray WHF-2040 Foam Windscreen For 3/4" Diameter Microphones (B&H # AUWHF2040) which is close in diameter, but it's not an exact fit for the V-Mic D4. A rubber O-ring or rubber band or a bit of padding or even tape can be used to create a tighter fit for the windscreen if you find that it is too loose.

Q: 4. Is this mic capable with the Sony a7 IV ?

A: The Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone requires a 48V-enabled XLR connection, which is not found directly on the Sony A7IV Camera. To connect the Deity S-Mic 2S to a camera such as the Sony A7IV you would need to implement a camera mixer such as BH #SASRPAX1 Saramonic SR-PAX1 Two-Channel Audio Mixer, which would provide the preamp needed by the Deity S-Mic 2S and calibrate the audio signal to the level expected by the Sony A7IV audio input.

Q: 5. I'm looking at the Cloudlifter CL-1, CL-2 (2-channel), the CL-4 (4-channel 1-up rackmount) and this CL-Z. I understand the value of a switchable high-pass filter (removing low-end rumble, etc.), but I don't understand the value of variable impedance, especially since the CL-Z appears to add a potentiometer to the signal path. Does the "knob" allow you to "tune" the mic to what sounds best to you? What are the physics behind the "Z"? Thanks for your help!

A: Each mic will have it's own resistance rating that will sound best. By being able to adjust it you can fine tune the Cloud Lifter to sound as best as it can with each mic, instead of a one size fits all option. You can also use it creatively to create sounds the mic normally would not be able to do.

Q: 6. This microphone is only 5.8 inches long. Both of the previous suggestions seem kind of long. Wouldn't a 2.7 inch Rycote, or the 4 inch, small Bumblebee Windkiller be a better fit?

A: Yes, those would work as well.

Q: 7. Will it work if i connect another Deity Microphones V-Mic D4 into the input of a V-Mic D4?

A: Yes, the input on the Deity V-Mic D4 Mini Shotgun Microphone can be used to connect a second wired mic or a wireless mic system. The input can supply plug-in power for mics that require it, so you can connect a second V-Mic D4 Mini and the audio from the second mic will be recorded onto the right channel.

Q: 8. Would the Rycote 18cm not be too large for this mic? Just wondering whether the 12cm Rycote wouldn't be a better fit for a mic that has a length of 148mm?

A: Yes. The 12cm would be a better fit.

Q: 9. will this mic fit perfectly in the XLR handle for the Sony FX30? not loose? just right?

A: The Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone will not fit perfectly inside the Sony FX30 camera bracket, a spacer will be required, we recommend this item: Auray Rubber Spacer Sleeve for XLR Shotgun Microphones on Camcorders B&H # AURSSMCAM45 MFR # RSSM-CAM45

Q: 10. Will this mic diameter fit well on the mic holder that comes with the Fx6?

A: Although Sony does not specify the diameter of or compatibility for the microphone holder found on the FX6, the 0.75" diameter found on the Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone is relatively common and will likely fit nicely inside the FX6 microphone holder.

[48 / 44.1 kHz] Arm works well, easy set-up, and comes with an adaptor piece for mics like the yeti I currently have. In fact, the arm was originally so strong, it wouldn't hold the mic low enough in place. After a couple days it loosened up and it works like a dream now. I'll be hooking my rode podmic up to it soon, which is heavier than most, so I sprung for the nicer Rode PSA1. Of course, it's pricey, but if you have a heavy microphone I recommend not wasting time on inferior arms, haha.

[0.69 lb] The Rode PS1 studio boom is very well-crafted. It is made of aluminum and is properly balanced for mics within the weight limits given. I have a Shure SM58 mic and purchased the Shure A55M mic vibration isolation ring. This mount connects perfectly to the PSA1 using the 3/8 to 5/8 adapter provided. This combination balances perfectly in any position to which I move it. When not in use, my mic stays safely out of the way behind my 27-in screen, and when in use, stays perfectly balanced in position for speaking.

[Side Address] We record books for the blind using volunteer readers across the country. Our previous solution was a mix of multiple pieces of equipment that required extensive training and support. The Tula is intuitive for our readers to use, has excellent sound quality, and good noise rejection.
