Compact and comfortable, the Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 AF Lens for Nikon Zfrom Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 AF Lens for Nikon Zis a wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame-format Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. The versatile wide field of view is suitable for a broad range of subjects from portraiture to reportage, and the fast f/1.8 design excels in low-light conditions and for shallow depth of field applications. The optical design incorporates extra-low dispersion and high refractive index elements to suppress a variety of aberrations and distortion, and an HD Nano multi-layer coating has also been applied to reduce flare and ghosting for greater contrast in bright and backlit conditions.

Complementing the optics, the lens's design also incorporates an STM stepping motor that affords fast, near silent, and accurate autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focusing design also contributes to quick performance. Additionally, the lens features an integrated micro-USB port for making future firmware updates to the lens.

Prime wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame-format Nikon Z mirrorless cameras, and when used with APS-C format cameras, it has the equivalent perspective of a 52.5mm lens.

Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field.

Two extra-low dispersion elements and two high transparency elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve a high degree of clarity and color accuracy.

10 elements in eight groups.

Two aspheric elements help to control spherical aberrations and reduce distortion in order to realize high sharpness and accurate rendering.

HD nano multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

STM stepping motor enables quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. The internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during use for improved handling and quicker response.

Integrated manual aperture ring for tactile exposure control; this ring also features an 'A' position for automated, camera-based aperture selection.

Nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Integrated micro-USB port for firmware updates.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this for full frame cameras? I have the D750

A: Yes it is. Its a pretty great, all around 35mm lens.

Q: 2. A few degrees of angle of view of the lens when it is on a crop sensor like the Z50?

A: The Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 Lens for Nikon Z would roughly have a 60 degree diagonal angle of view on a Nikon APS-C camera like the Nikon Z50 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 3. Will this work on an APS-C body?

A: Yes. This will work on a Sony E-Mount camera.

Q: 4. What does DX mean?

A: Per Nikon - In digital SLR cameras, the camera's format refers to the size of its image sensor. Nikon makes a DX-format sensor and an FX-format sensor. The DX-format is the smaller sensor at 24x16mm; the larger FX-format sensor measures 36x24mm which is approximately the same size as 35mm film.Different NIKKOR lenses are designed to accommodate the different camera sensor sizes. In the case of DX cameras with their smaller sensors, corresponding DX lenses have been designed, which are optimized for use with the DX sensor. The DX designation can be found in the lens name, i.e. AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED. These lenses are smaller and lighter in weight and address the market's need for affordable, high-performance lenses with a variety of focal lengths and zoom options. The DX sensor makes possible the production of lighter, smaller cameras, but because it covers a smaller portion of the image projected by the lens, a 1.5x crop factor is introduced. This means, for example, a 24mm lens on a DX sensor camera will provide an approximate 36mm view.DX cameras have the added benefit of being able to use both DX and non-DX NIKKOR lensesthose lenses without the DX designation in their names, i.e. AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED. And here's why. Each lens is designed to cast an image circle on the camera's sensor. The DX-format camera can use both types of lenses (DX and FX) since the non-DX lens image circle is larger than needed on a DX-format camera.FX cameras can also use DX lenses, however to avoid vignetting, the DX crop mode is automatically selected by the camera when a DX lens is attached. comparison of two image crops, of a landscape of mountains and fields showing the crop of an fx lens on an fx sensor camera and dx lens crop on an fx camera Diane BerkenfeldOn an FX-format camera with a DX lens mounted, the camera will automatically engage its built-in DX crop mode, thus recording an image only from the center section of the sensor.

Q: 5. Auto Focus ?

A: Yes, the Viltrox 24mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony Full Frame E Mount is an autofocus lens.

Q: 6. Will it work on Nikon z50?

A: Yes this lens is compatible. Just remember that the Z50 is a cropped sensor camera so you're not seeing 24mm you'll be seeing 36mm.

Q: 7. is it wheather, dust and moisture resistant?

A: There is no mention of any weather seal or resistance on the Viltrox AF 24mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony E.

Q: 8. This lens is capable of outfocus with the D5000?

A: yes, it has an internal af-s motor and will work and auto focus perfectly.

Q: 9. Compared this lens with the 16-35 f4 VR (working in 35mm) which do you think works better? Focusing, details definition, image quality, colors etc ... thanks for your help!!!

A: I've never used the 16-35. I prefer primes because they are lighter and I see better than using a zoom. I mainly use a 35/1.8 and a 50/1.4 and find both to be fast, sharp, and all-around excellent lenses. My only complaint is that the 35/1.8 is longer and less convenient to carry than older 35, 24, and 20 mm lenses. The 35/1.8 is my most used lens on a D800.

Q: 10. Is it comparable with a D7000?

A: I have both an FX camera (D810) and a DX Camera (D7000). This lens works EXACTLY the same as the DX version of this lens. Both lenses are the equivalent of a 52mm on the D7000. I need to get it out for more side by side comparison, but I'm ALMOST sorry I purchased it because so far the results seem exactly the same as the DX version. So, if you want to save a few hundred dollars, get the DX version. Even if you want to upgrade to FX in the future, the DX version will work with it, you'd just have some vignetting around the edges of the picture that you can remove EASILY with Lightroom. I was expecting that when I pixel peeped I'd notice differences, but .... so far I haven't. I'm kind of disappointed in this lens. I was expecting the same kind of quality that the 85mm 1.8 gives.

[Full-Frame] Using this lens on a Sony a7c, the autofocus and image quality are both fantastic! It feels very well made and offers much higher performance than I expected for a budget lens!

[Nikon Z] A great walk around lens. Nicely balanced on my new A7CR, but also works just fine on my A6000 [as a 35mm]. Should I have saved the money for the 4x the price Zoom 20-70? No, you/ I can afford both lenses.

[Full-Frame] I was looking for a wide lens that could handle low-light situations in restaurants and night clubs, which I visit a few times a year. I couldn't afford the Nikon one, so I decided to give the Viltrox 24/1.8 a try when I saw it on sale for only $290. After testing it for a few days, I think it's a decent lens for the money. It's not as sharp as the Nikon 24/1.8 in the corners, and it has some vignetting. I wouldn't use it for landscapes (I prefer a zoom lens anyway, and this one is not weather-sealed). But I'm happy with it for night shots and club scenes.

[2 lb] I purchased this lens to use alongside my Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM as 35mm is not a focal length I use enough to warrant buying the 35mm GM as well. I used this lens for several full photo sessions and it autofocuses quickly and accurately, and is as sharp as you'd want it to be! I have no problem using this lens for client work and delivering images taken with it. Highly recommend!

[Nikon Z] I purchased Z mount to use on Nikon Z6ii. I photograph events and my main lens is S series 24-120, I needed a lens for low light situations therefore I bought 24 mm viltrox lens. I have no re grates with my purchase.

[Nikon Z] Even after reading positive reviews, I was pleasantly surprised at the sharpness of the photos that took in with the Viltrox mounted on my Nikon Z5. I can only recommend highly.

[Nikon Z] I purchased this mainly for video for my Nikon Z6. It performs comparably to my other Nikon brand Z primes (35mm f1.8 for example) in terms of speed of focusing and shooting experience. I haven't pixel peeped the photos taken with this lens but for video it works very well and quietly. Build quality is tight and excellent. Viltrox is a leader in value/quality ratio in my opinion. In addition to being significantly lower price than the Nikon brand equivalent Z lens, this lens is actually a little more compact in size which I like for gimbal use.

[Nikon Z] Interfaces with Nikon Z cameras well. F stop of 1.8 makes it a little bulky and heavy, but takes great sharp fotos.
