When using a PTZ camera setup, skip the head as you don't need it, with the E-Image Aluminum Tripod with Rising Center Column & QR Plate for PTZ Cameras. This set of tripod legs uses a P6 (Manfrotto 501) compatible quick release mechanism that lets you slide your camera (with QR plate mounted) directly onto the legs for a simpler and more stable setup. Though lightweight and easy to take with you, the legs support up to 26.5 lb of camera and remain stable, even with the geared center column at maximum extension.

With a height range of 33.25 to 92", these legs can handle almost any situation needing a PTZ camera. It features a mid-level spreader that allows you to shoot on unlevel terrain, while retractable foot spikes have spin-down rubber shoes that make the tripod suitable for exterior and interior locations. The QR mechanism has both a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded accessory mounting hole, and an included weight bag attaches to the legs, allowing you to add optional weight for added stability.

Using a PTZ camera eliminates the need for a fluid head, thus the GA230-PTZ replaces the fluid head with a P6 Quick Release Plate (Manfrotto 501 compatible) for quick setups.

The geared center column of the tripod can extend 18" and lock in place for high-angle shots.

The tripod legs feature a height range of 33.25" to 92" with the center column fully extended.

The GA230-PTZ supports up to 26.5 lb. An included stone bag attaches to the legs, providing a place to hang extra weight (not included) for increased stability.

A threaded 1/4"-20 mounting recess is located at the base of the central column for mounting accessory arms. The quick release mechanism also features two mounting recesses, a 1/4"-20 thread and a 3/8"-16 thread.

A built-in bubble level helps you ensure that the tripod legs are level.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am looking for a tripod and head I can safely use with a heavy lens camera combo for nature photography and then later upgrade the head to a gimbal when I can afford it. Can you remove the head that comes with this later if need be, or is it permanently attached?

A: The head is removable. The tripod is heavy and stable, and can hold the weight of a long lens but I wouldn't try to carry it too far.

Q: 2. For anyone who ordered this tripod recently, can you tell me if there was styrofoam on top of the ballhead in the box and if the camera plate was already attached to the ballhead or loose in a separate bag? I know it may seem like two crazy questions but really need to know. I'm nervous mine may not have been new. Thanks!

A: The Plate was in a small sealed/taped bag.

Q: 3. Will this tripod support the Canon 7D Mark II with the Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens attached?

A: Yes, this tripod is appropriate for a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with a Sigma 150-600mm Sports Lens attached.

Q: 4. How much does this tripod weight?

A: The tripod is going to weight 5.5 pounds.

Q: 5. Is the MK190XPRO4-BHQ2 compatible with the Peak Design base plate? Thanks..

A: If you get the dual plate it will be compatible. You can click on the link to view; https://bhpho.to/36HaSK9

Q: 6. Can this tripod hold Canon 5d Mark IV with a Canon 600mm f4 lens?

A: No .. i would not recommend using a ball head of any kind with a big heavy lens like a 600mm f/4. it may support the weight. but it would be dangerously unstable. the first time you let go of the camera without having it locked down. it's going to flop down, lens dive. even possibly hard enough to damage the lens mount. or topple the whole rig over. if you spent the big bucks for the good glass. get a serious support set up. for a lens that large. I'd recommend a Wimberley WH 2 II, and a Gitzo 4 series tripod. the best tool for the job. the choice of most professionals. and made specifically for setups like yours. of course you can get them both a B&H ..

Q: 7. If it doesn't come included, can this tripod accept an adjustment bowl adapter which allows you to level the camera independently of the tripod legs quickly? Manfrotto even has their own.

A: You will need to use a 3/8"-16 leveling base such as the Manfrotto 438 (https://bhpho.to/3GGankY). The Manfrotto 190XPRO4 does not accept the Manfrotto 555 leveling center column, nor can it use 75mm/100mm half-ball leveling adapters/bowls.

Q: 8. Are the legs on this tripod able to move to different angles. Im looking for a tripod that can go out to 80.

A: Sure, Here are the angles per the catalog: Leg Angles25,46,66,88

Q: 9. Why is there a 3 and 4 leg section option? I would assume the max height would be more with the 4, but the specs show the same height. Thanks

A: Having 4 leg sections on a tripod allow it fold down smaller.

Q: 10. Bob the traveller, was wondering if the 055 tripod can hold up in high winds of (30-50 mph)?I live by the beach and we experience high winds at times. Normal summer to winter winds is 20-30 mph. Thanks i appreciate for your asistance.

A: This is a very heavy duty tripod, when I'm in high winds I sandbag it and it holds up well. I highly recommend this tripos it's well built, and the ball head is excellent, hope this helps.

[Aluminum] Been using it a while and still works great for me. Solid. Not as light as others out there but that doesn't bother me and it's good quality for the price.

[Mid-Level] The Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 is sturdy support and easy to use . I use it with the Pro ball head and a gimbal with longer glass. Not lightweight and for my use that kinda the point.

[Aluminum] This is a great tripod! I have only owned this a couple of weeks, but I love it already! The quality is amazing.........super solid tripod, and the ball heads locks up solid. Many great features. The only thing I don't love, is the leg locks. I keep trying to unlatch them to the wrong side due to the way they are designed. Other than that, awesome!

[Yes] 07 14 2018 - Received a Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 Aluminum Tripod with XPRO Ball Head sooner than expected via FedEx (delivered on a Saturday instead of the projected Monday deliver date). First impression was how BEEFY thing is... and it's exactly what I wanted. I'd never seen a ball head in person and have never had a tripod of this quality in my hands before, so this is a big deal for me. I read through all the paperwork, checked nuts and bolts to make sure they were tight, and then opened and closed everything to make sure all was well. Then I started experimenting. I'm totally glazed and amazed at how solid it holds my Canon 77d and Sigma 150-600 C lens. No drift and no creep. This is the first time I've been able to lock onto a subject and have my lens stay exactly where I put it. I was never concerned about having a high-quality tripod/head before anyways because I didn't do much shooting from a tripod. In fact, I normally used a tripod only to hold my camera so my hands would both be free between shots. With this tripod, with the legs extended and the camera mounted, the viewfinder is approximately 4" below my eye level (I'm 6'2"). Sweet. This Manfrotto tripod and ball head look to be a game changer for me.

[Twist Lock] I bought this particular tripod because I was looking for a tripod that was sturdy enough to handle my 70-200 mm lens, the heaviest one I own. Prior to this tripod, I'd only used the $50-100 ones from Best Buy, which I knew wouldn't work too well for a lens of this size.

When my Manfrotto arrived, set up was pretty easy; just had to read the directions carefully. But it holds my camera perfectly.

Because there's some weight to it, whenever I use it, I feel like it's very secure, even on a grassy hill. If you can afford it, this is a good one to get!

[Yes] I bought this tripod two months ago, and could not praise it more. I do mostly food photography, so the ability to have the 90 degree tilt is life-changing. The tripod has worked rather well with up to a 17-55 lens with no additional weights for balance. LOVE the tripod. Strongly recommend Manfrotto!

[13.54 lb] It came with all 3 legs and a head. The legs are easy to spread and the neck goes up and down smoothly.
