Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is a the diameter or circumference of the tripod legs when closed? Thanks!

A: The diameter of the tripod portion of the Sachtler System FSB 4 Fluid Head with Sideload Plate, Flowtech 75 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Mid-Level Spreader and Rubber Feet (B&H# SA0395) with the legs completely folded is about six inches (15.2cm). Please note, however, that as with most tripods, a cross section of the folded legs does not form a perfect circle. As a consequence, the diameter varies depending on where one measures it.

Q: 2. The first picture shows a pan bar attached to the FSB 4 Fluid Head. Is one included in the box? If not, what is the Sachtler code for this pan bar in the picture? Thank you.

A: It does come with a Pan Handle. You can also order one for the other side if you wanted a studio config.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this head and the ACE XL head?

A: The FSB 4 head offers a capacity up to 8.8 Pounds with a 5-Step Counterbalance. While the Ace XL goes between 4.4 to 17.6 pounds and has an incremental 8-Step Counterbalance system. However the FSB line up in general offers a higher quality build over the Ace series as far as the materials used.

Q: 4. Can you mount a VCT base plate on this head? I have the SHAPE Pro Shoulder Rig Kit for the Sony PXW-FX9 Camera. Do I need an additional adapter? Thanks for your reply

A: You will need a VCT quick release plate like the following. This plate would allow you to mount VCT compatible cameras to basically any tripod including the Sachtler model listed. SHAPE VCT Tripod Plate BH #SHVCTSH https://bhpho.to/3MddXaH

Q: 5. Does this come with the padded bag and carrying handle?

A: yes

Q: 6. maximum height?

A: The following unit offers the following 31.9 to 67.3" height range.

Q: 7. Can I attach my own video head to the tripod? or is it fused with FSB4 ?

A: The FSB4 is not fused to this tripod. This system will work with other 75mm ball tripods. You could even get the legs alone, BH #SA4585, for if you already happen to have your own 75mm ball head. https://bhpho.to/2JbYbwT

Q: 8. Does it come with a shoulder strap?

A: yes

Q: 9. maximum tripod height with the ground spreader?

A: This Sachtler System FSB 6 Mk II kit has a maximum working height of 60.96"

Q: 10. Is the fsb 6 too much support for a sony a7s3 with a 24-70 lens attached?

A: The FSB6 might be a bit too much for the A7SIII, especially if you use a lens that keeps the weight below 3.3 pounds. The FSB4 would be a better option.

[Yes] I regularly film a panel discussion from the back of an auditorium, at full zoom in order to get closeups.

This tripod system is rock solid, and the fluid head gives me great control, letting me smoothly pan and tilt without any starting or ending jerks. The balance control allows confident hands-off, no-drift operation after youve landed, too.

This is an expensive piece of gear considering the alternatives, but its one of the best pieces of kit that I own.

[Yes] Love that it is so small and portable and can handle lightweight to medium sized cameras and makes you feel like you are using a much bigger tripod. And I am sure this will give me years and years of problem free use.

[+90° to -70°] Very smooth fluid head with nice settings. Would say it's worth purchasing.

[Fluid Head] This is perfect replacement for my original for my Sachtler Ace. I'm sure my other one will turn up shortly since I bought the new one lol.

[Yes] My 20 year old Miller finally gave up and I pulled the trigger on the Flowtech. From the moment I pulled these sticks out of the box I knew I’d made the right choice. The ability to adjust the height quickly has transformed how I shoot. This tripod is light, but strong and inspires confidence to do things I’ve never done before. It’s an investment, but so worthwhile. FSB 4 head is more than capable of taking on my Mirrorless set up, with a Ninja monitor attached. I’m confident these sticks will last for years and years.

[75 mm Half Ball] Finally replaced my 20 year old tripod and I made the right choice. This is a game changer. Easy to use alone, light yet built like a tank. It’s a solid set of legs, especially for mirrorless shooters like me. Carbon fibre legs are a joy to use.

[Yes] I'm currently running an FS7 with V mount batteries, external 5 monitor, Zacuto VCT plate+shoulder plate. Lenses are often at the long & heavy end. This head can handle that setup no problem. For general everyday shooting it will cover all my bases. From my days working in broadcast I grew to like a lot of friction in the head, and it would be nice to have a little more in the tilt axis for long lens work (e.g. surfing), but it's nice to stay with a 75mm system for genearl everyday use.

The head is also lighter than the Manfrotto 504HD I used previously. The prism spirit level is GREAT as someone vertically challenged. I also like that the tie down bolt can be removed, leaving a flat base for mounting on a slider.

I originally wished they made a touch & go version of this head but now have grown to like the advantages of the the Sideload. Mainly that there is much more adjustment range available forward and back.

What would have been nice is if two camera plates were included. The price to buy Sachtler's plates individually is nearly 5% the price of this head - which I think is over the top. Thankfully standard Manfrotto style plates are compatible however I would only trust the Sachtler plate on a heavy/expensive rig.
