The Shure MX424 is a 24" gooseneck condenser microphone designed for panels, conferences, and public-address applications and engineered to deliver accurate and detailed voice reproduction for demanding professionals. The longer adjustable gooseneck length allows for optimal positioning for a wide variety of speakers and presenters and is well suited mounting on deep tables and large surfaces.

At home on conference tables, pulpits, or lecterns, the mic features an electret-condenser capsule with a 50 Hz to 17 kHz frequency response that's tailored for crisp, clear speech and vocals. The Microflex series' modular design allows you to easily swap out mic capsules depending on the application and the acoustic properties of the environment. This version includes a capsule with a cardioid pick-up pattern that focuses audio capture on the subject in front of the mic for less background noise and fewer feedback problems from PA systems and loudspeakers.

The supplied snap-fit windscreen clicks into place on the mic to ensure secure attachment and helps reduce plosives and breath noise by up to 30 dB for clearer, more intelligible audio. The included shockmount installation flange provides over 20 dB of isolation from surface vibration noise. Additional hardware is provided for quick and easy mounting to surfaces.

A: No, the BOYA BY-MM1 Mini Cardioid Condenser Microphone is not compatible for direct connection to the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. The BY-MM1 requires plug-in power which the camera does not provide through its 3.5mm mic input. As another option, you may want to consider the BOYA BY-BM3011 Camera-Mount Cardioid Shotgun Microphone ( B&H # BOBYBM3011) or the Opteka VM-8 Directional Mini-Shotgun Microphone (B&H # OPOPVM8) which both operate using a single AAA battery and are around the same price. A: Yes - There is a "touchpad" switch on the microphone. By default the mic ships in an "always hot" state, and pressing the button momentarily "mutes". As outlined in the user manual, I have switched these to "touch-on" - "touch-off". Simple process in the bottom panel of the mic. I have 12 of these and it's a 2 minute process to convert each one by flipping a DIP switch on the board in the bottom stand.

[Cardioid] Using this on the podium at church. It replaces our previous podium gooseneck that after many years of use started to pick up too much sound on the stage area creating feedback issues. I was specifically wanting to try a mic with a super cardioid pattern. This mic is just a tiny bit longer than I wanted but all the other super cardioid mics I could find were too short. The mic works well and sounds great. Rejection of sounds from the side is very good. As expected from a super cardioid it does pick up a little sound from the rear but at a very low volume that does not create any issues for us. The shock mount flange works well and greatly reduces sound from physical interaction with the podium and footsteps in the area. I like that the windscreen is a snap-on. Many windscreens on our last gooseneck disappeared because they came off too easily. Very happy with the mic and are expecting many years of reliable performance from it. 5

[Mono] When you're dealing with non-public speakers standing before the microphone, a simple control to maintain proper placement of the mic's pickup pattern is so valuable and this simply designed gooseneck manages the podium with ease, all while minimizing it's physical presence in the space. Plus... it's a Shure!! 5

[End Address] The microphone was fairly simple to install--either had to drill a 7/8 or a 1-3/4 hole in the pulpit to establish a firm holder, but the hardware was there and the microphone works very well. 5

[Phantom Power] We bought this microphone to replace an older one on the pulpit of our church. It not only looks much better because it is smaller and discreet, the sound quality is considerably better than the previous microphone.
