A compact wide-angle prime, the Sony E-mount Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN Lens for Sony Efrom Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN Lens for Sony Eprovides excellent edge-to-edge sharpness in a stylish all-metal design. An ideal lens for landscape, nature, interior, and architectural photography, the lens provides a modestly bright f/2 maximum aperture for low-light performance and shallow depth of field control. Additionally, its fast maximum aperture makes it a natural choice for night sky and astrophotography. The lens is constructed of two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element to correct axial chromatic aberration. The lens also incorporates two high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements, which enable the total weight of the lens to be reduced. In regard to handling and focus, this lens features a stepping motor for quick and quiet AF performance that suits both photo and video applications.

[Autofocus] I have a Sigma FP and of course I ordered it with the 45mm originally. I tried a few other lenses before settling on the new Sigma 24mm Contemporary. I'm so glad I did! This lens is tack sharp from f2.8 and above and at f2 there's just the slightest softness, but barely noticeable. There's no vignetting at all on full frame. I've exercised this lens extensively in low light as well and it performs beautifully! Examples on YouTube/floridaambient

[Autofocus] The range of travel of the zoom ring is much longer than other lenses, especially Canon and both zoom and focus are slightly more resistant than other lenses, but it feels solid and nicely built.

[9, Rounded] I've had this lens only far a short time, & so far all I can say is this lens is very sharp across the entire frame, even at aperture 2.8. I originally owned the Canon EF version of this lens, even though this lens is an entirely new design for the Sony E - Mount, its right on the same level of image quality (maybe even better), weighs 360 grams less, & the smaller diameter makes much easier to handle. If you're familiar with ART lenses, you know what to expect in terms of build quality. Auto focus has been surprisingly really good, eyetracking doesn't miss a beat. Compared to the Batis 18mm this lens is superior in my opinion (except weight). Can't comment on video autofocus quite yet with the small sample size I have. I was originally torn between this and the Tamron 17-28mm. Bottom line, you probably won't dissapointed with either lens, but I think the Sigma will offer a little better IQ, have less chromatic aberration, & be superior for astrography. If you do more video work (especially on a gimbal) & want a lighter walk around lens, the Tamron is the way to go.

[Full-Frame] I purchased this lens for my new Leica SL3 and on my first outing I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the lens. Super sharp lens corner to corner! Very happy with my purchase!

[Autofocus] I recently bought this lens for use with my Leica SL2-S. I already own the Leica 24-70 zoom and thought this would be a good choice for an even wider angle perspective.

This Sigma seems very well constructed, with a smooth zoom mechanism and positive attachment to the camera. It comes with a really nice carrying case and form-fitted lens hood. Due to the large (and very curved) front element, filters cannot be used over the front lens element but must be attached behind the rear element.

Super wide angle shots are superb -- the perspective at 14mm is definitively different, and 24mm is also terrific.

I compared this lens at 24mm with my Leica 24-70 also set at 24mm, by shooting identical frames using the self-timer with the camera mounted on a sturdy tripod. Comparing the two RAW images side-by-side in Lightroom, with no adjustments or presets of any kind, the color rendition on the two lenses seems almost identical, which makes sense since both are apparently made by Sigma. What surprised me, though, was that the Sigma images appear a bit sharper in the corners and at the edge of the frame than the Leica.

I'm very pleased with this lens and can highly recommend it!

[84.1°] Best use of this lens for me: put in on the S1H for gimbal work. Looks great and not too heavy.

[24mm] It's wide enough to get group shots, and sharp enough to crop in for close ups (using a7c). It's also been bright enough for indoor video and outside in afternoon shade. My primary uses are (1) high quality video for meetings (2) family pictures and video.

[Autofocus] The first variable-zoom Sigma Art lens for Sony E mount is a stunner. It takes sharp images with minimal distortion at the wider focal lengths. It's lighter than the Sigma primes and is a perfect fit in a camera bag.

I made a quick review of the lens on Youtube, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3YfjE6pzoA
