Use this ARRI Smart Focus Ring 10'when focus-mapping your lens with a Hi-5 controller hand unit. This auto-detectable ring is pre-marked from a close-focus of 10' to infinity. It can be mapped to a given lens using the Lens Data Archive (LDA).

[10'] I find the muscle memory of using these premarked rings is incredibly helpful in my work as a commercial focus puller. This way, on different sets of lenses I still work with essentially the same throw, so there's less time on the job where I need to learn the lens. I find the 8 ring specifically helpful for music videos, where the artist comes very close to the lens, and also backs up to 12-15 ft all in the same shot. 5
