Designed specifically to fit onto a Canon RF 400 f/2.8 IS lens, the black Canon RF 400 f/2.8 IS LensCoat Travelcoat Blackis a 3mm thick, shock-absorbing, closed-cell neoprene cover that is custom tailored to fit the lens with its lens hood mounted in reverse position. It is designed to fully protect the lens from bumps, scratches, and abrasions when not in use, without the need of a more traditional bulky lens case. The trim fit of the coat offers extra storage space when you're packing for that long photo excursion, or even a day trip. The coat simply slides over the lens, and closes with a secure touch fastener. The black TravelCoat renders the lens dark when shooting in low light scenarios. Use with the appropriate optional Hoodie for complete lens protection.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. There seems to be more than one lens hood offered as one seems longer than the other in the illustration. Which do we get, the longer or shorter one?

A: Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens comes with the Canon Lens Hood ET-155 (WIII) included in the box. WIch is the long version.

Q: 2. Does this come with the lens hood and/or tripod mount?

A: The Canon ET-73C Lens Hood for RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens is included with the purchase of the Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens. However, the Canon Tripod Mount Ring and Adapter for RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens, B&H # CAUTPMRA, is an optional accessory that must be purchased separately.

Q: 3. Can the RF 1.4x and 2x teleconverters be used on this lense?

A: Yes the Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L is fully compatible with the 1.4x and 2x Canon RF teleconverters.

Q: 4. What is the working distance (end of lens to subject) at 1x and 1.4x?

A: Focusing distance at 1.4x is 10.2" inches / 26 cm. This is measured from the Sensor Plane. Measuring from the end of the lens this would be 3.6" inches / 9 cm. Unfortunately as this lens has not been made available yet and it is not listed in the specs, we do not yet have information on focusing distance at 1x. Though it would definitely be a longer distance than at 1.4x.

Q: 5. will this lens work with the RF teleconverters?

A: No. This lens does not work with Canon RF-Mount Teleconverters.

Q: 6. I have a 1.4 tele extender so will this cover fit over it and the 100-500 lens?

A: It is for the lens only. They do not make one for the lens plus a teleconverter

Q: 7. The Eos R7 is not a full frame camera. Do I have trouble focusing on close-ups (plant, insect, face)? Because this lens is a mirrorless lens designed for full frame camera. Is the focus area narrow?

A: When using this lens on a Canon R7 it will have a crop factor of 1.6x. This will make the equivalent focal length 160mm. This will have no effect on the minimum focus distance though, which will remain 10.2".

Q: 8. What lens hood comes with this lens?

A: It comes with this lens hood: https://bhpho.to/3iaAAj9

Q: 9. It has been said by Bryan Carnathan from The Digital Picture site that this lens may suffer from focus shift between f/2.8 and f/11. Since I will be using this lens for insect photography, I would like to know if anyone noticed this problem?

A: Like many still camera lenses compared to Cine lenses focus shift should be expected.

Q: 10. What is the actual focal length at 1x? At 1.4x? We all know any number of 70-200 zooms from the past that as successive generations of updates claimed closer minimum focus distances, that was achieved by making the long (nominally 200mm end) reduced, sometime by a lot - say to 120mm or so.

A: Canon claims the actual focal length of the Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens is 100mm at 1X and 1.4X magnification.

[Black] I was looking for a protective cover for my Canon 70-200 L IS II; something that would fit in my backpack. The original Canon lens case is too bulky to place in the backpack. The TravelCoat fits the bill! It protects the lens and does not take additional space in the bag. A pricey item, but it does the job.
