[Metal] As promised, this is basically a large version of the timpani with a soft panel. If you love other Luxli products, you’ll be very happy with this kit. I added on a pop softbox as well and it really makes this light shine. Speaking of, this panel has plenty of power even with a soft panel AND a soft box on. The case easily fits everything you need and more. For the power pack, I prefer adding a dummy v-mount to the brick and hanging it from the battery mounts on the back of the unit rather than hanging from the yoke as they recommend (this is how I use my timpani fixtures, hopefully the added heat from this unit doesn’t make this a problem, but so far it seems to work fine) . That said, it’s impressive they include the pieces to hang it in the box. A lanyard or other solution would be nice as well.

[5.835 lb] Our favorite light. Excellent quality, very flexible, easy to use. Heavy, but that is expected.

[5.835 lb] Been waiting for barndoors for the Taiko for a while. They are built great and do what they need to do. The clip on design works but I'd prefer the slide in design better but all in all it holds on tight and works well.

[5.835 lb] I've had a few Taikos for a couple of years now. I'll take this Taikos over the Geminis and the S-60s any day. They are lighter, more powerful and have cleaner color. Now they have a bag that finally fits! You can still use your diff on the inside of the lite if you choose to do so. The box is easy to put on once you realize you need to face the light up to install. Once on, swing it back into place and Velcro the tabs on the back. Put on the front diff and you're done! I bought the optional grid for more light control. Keep up the good work Luxli! I have not been paid by Luxli for this review but would love to get some more lighting from them!!!

[5.835 lb] The barn door for the Taiko is finally here.
They do what they are supposed to do. The primary way I will be using the barn doors is to avoid light spill when placing an extra diffuser disc, flag or panel in front of the Taiko, bouncing the light at a surface for indirect and extra diffused light source, or, also, when I want to prevent light hitting a ceiling or an object I'm trying to avoid being lit.

The construction of this barn door is super heavy duty. It's all metal, from the frame to the doors, to the mounting platform. The mounting platform also features a strip rubber material to grip it well when latched. (See pictures).

The Taiko features an extra second slide-down rail right next to the area the diffusion panels slide down. That's what I initially imagined the bard door would go when I got the Taiko.

Like another reviewer also mentioned, I would rather have the "drop down slide" barn door system instead of the clamp-on to the frame design, but this clamp on barn door design works well too and it mounts very securely.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if it were made of plastic. Sometimes plastic is good...

But this barn door is very heavy duty and all in all, it does what it's supposed to do, control light spill and light shaping, which is the most important thing.

I have also provided some pictures with my review with step by step instructions if you need, as this barn door comes with no instructions in the package (or at least for now it doesn't). Make sure to check them out!

[Metal] After doing my homework for weeks, looking at everything available as led panel, I decided to go with the TAIKO......Man! What a good choice!
Everything is perfect, not too heavy, not too bulky, very well built, great output, VERYYYY user friendly, the app is the best! I cant find anything wrong. If you order it, do yourself a favour, order the case for it.......for $99 it’s a steal!!!!! One of the nicest case I ever saw! Bravo Luxli!

[Metal] The form factor of these 2X1 LED lights is great. They are super thin but feel solid and well made. The ability to connect the lights via Bluetooth and control them from behind the camera has to be my favorite feature. I also, like the fact that you can use a couple of v mount batteries right on the head to power the lights out in the field.Thats one thing a skypanel won't do. They are bright enough to use with talent against a window to get proper exposure. They have full RGB control as well as daylight and tungsten balance. And the built in FX will be fun to have in my back pocket. These lights will definitely be my work horse lights.

[5.835 lb] I own the smaller Luxli lights and use them a ton. They're perfect for adding a pop of color, but they haven't had the muscle to light up a whole set.

The Taiko is amazingly powerful, despite being easily light enough for one person to rig and transport. The lenses over each LED give it a long, focussed throw and the when you need softer shadow edges, the diffusion gives you a beauty light or can add a wash of color to a whole cyc wall.

As with the rest of the Luxli lights, its really well made and has a very usable app that lets you pick colors from a camera to get just the right shade of red.

As far as quality vs price, there is nothing else like this on the market. Great light.
