Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I use this filter to block light from distant city, will it also affect the Halogen light I use to light paint?

A: The Kase Neutral Night Light Pollution Filter (82mm) is designed to reduce light pollution when photographing the sky during long-exposure night photography. It was not originally intended for light painting usage needs. Halogen lights will output light that may be suppressed by the filter, but it may depend on the intensity of the light as to the effect the filter may have on the halogen light (the filter is designed to reduce background light glow). Your results may vary, and would require testing to see if it would work for your planned usage needs.

Q: 2. Can you use a step-down adapter to use larger filters on lenses with smaller thread sizes (e.g.82mm filter on 67mm thread lens)?

A: To use the Kase 72mm Wolverine Magnetic Professional Neutral Density Filter Kit II on a 67mm size lens you can use this adapter: https://bit.ly/3U27oO8

Q: 3. Can I use these with a step-up ring?

A: Yes you can use the adapter ring in the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable Neutral Density Filter with Adapter Ring, Gen 2 (82mm, 1.5 to 10-Stops) with a step-up ring.

Q: 4. Can this filter be used with the Nisi v7 filter holder?

A: Yes, the NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder can be used with the Haida Red Diamond ND6.0 Filter (100 x 100mm, 20-Stop).

Q: 5. Would I be able to mount another filter like a mist filter in front of that?

A: The K&F Concept Nano-X Variable ND8 to ND128 Filter (52mm) has no front filter threads, so you would not be able to mount another filter on the front of this filter.

Q: 6. I saw that there is another version of this filter with an aluminum frame. What is the frame of this filter made of?

A: The NiSi 72mm Natural Night Filter ring is made out of aluminum.

Q: 7. Will this fit my Sony A6400's Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens ?

A: No, the NiSi 72mm Natural Night Filter will not fit the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E. The NiSi 67mm Natural Night Filter is the correct filter. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/3BUnEG5.

Q: 8. will these accept any magnetic lens caps (sensei/Haida/etc) or are they specific to Case?

A: The Kase Skyeye Magnetic Circular Polarizer Filter with Magnetic Adapter Ring (82mm) is only compatible with the Kase 82mm Skyeye Magnetic Lens Cap.

Q: 9. Any recommended lens cap to go over the top of this VND (the 95mm side) to protect the lens?

A: For the front of the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable Neutral Density Filter with Adapter Ring, Gen 2 (82mm, 1.5 to 10-Stops) this Sensei 95mm cap would be a good option: https://bhpho.to/3tISNf7

Q: 10. Are these compatible with the freewell magnetic filter system so I can stack or use with other filters or the freewell adapter ring?

A: No, the Haida NanoPro Magnetic Clear Night Filter without Adapter Ring (82mm) only works with the Haida system.

[0.135 lb] The Haida Clear-Night filter eliminated the brown haze of light pollution in my astro photographs.
Just used it to capture Mars and the Milky Way and it worked.

I live in a rural area without street lights, however there is enough glow in the east from nearby towns to cause problems for astro-photography. The Haida Clear-Night solved the problem.

[4 x 3.6 x 0.7"] I read an article about this filter and how it works to remove the color pollution from night shots in areas with sodium vapor lighting. It works very well for that and also cuts back on the highlights created in photos where that type of lighting is concerned. Good investment especially based on the time you'll save color correcting in post.

[0.135 lb] I bought this filter specifically for astro photography . I am not an expert in the field but the filter works. It removes the orange glow from the street lights and allows for better pictures while maintaining relative colour accuracy. I am using it on sigma 30mm art.

[Aluminum] Used this filter for the first time on a trip to England, Scotland, and Wales. Had a number of opportunities to use this filter. Shot both with the filter on and with it off my 24-120 f/4 s Nikon lens. While the images without the filter looked good I could see an improvement in the clarity of the images taken with the filter on. It seemed to do a good job of filtering out some of the ambient noise. It also adds a little color to the image that I find very pleasing changing you images from a standard night scene into something much more creative. You do have to remember to take it off when you switch to daylight shooting.

[0.135 lb] After going through the reviews and comparisons, I decided to go with the Haida Clear Night filter. I bought the 67mm for use with my Sony 24mm f1.4 GM. First test was at Ft. Griffin which is a very dark site but you still get some light pollution on the horizon. What made me a believer in this filter was when I a couple photos, both with and without filter, as I was setting up. A quick view in the evf showed a dramatic difference between the two shots. As some have said, you do get more blue cast to the night sky, but I really like that look. And I can warm up whichever elements I want should I want to do that. All told a really nice LP filter. I liked it so much I purchased a 77mm version for other lenses.
