Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit onto the battery slots of the Ninja V?

A: No, unfortunately, the Hawk-Woods Mini V-Lok Battery Plate for Shogun/Ninja is only compatible with the Shogun/Ninja Inferno/Flame series monitors, as they have 2 battery slots that this unit fits into. The Ninja V only has one battery slot and this battery unit will not fit.

Q: 2. What about 48volt phantom power? Do the mics still get enough juice?

A: The Hosa Technology YXM-101.5 XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Audio Y-Cable is not designed to split signals from microphones directly and therefore may not provide adequate power to a microphone requiring 48 volts.

Q: 3. What is the distance of the spread of 2 XLRs from the Y-junction?

A: It splits in the middle, so approximately 5 feet on each end, meaning the spread would be approximately 10 feet. Best regards, Hosa Support.

Q: 4. Is this cable balanced ?

A: No, the Kopul XRSM cable is an unbalanced cable which can be used for connecting a microphone or line level signal to an unbalanced audio input on a camera, recorder, mixer or other device.

Q: 5. Does this work for a C500 Mark 2?

A: yes this 4pin Xlr power supply will work for the c500mkii

Q: 6. Will this work with the Zoom F8?

A: No it is specifically for the Sound Devices 744TH. The CA744INL Dual XLR to Dual TA3 Channel 3/4 Input Cable for 744TH (48") from Remote Audio is an audio input cable designed to be used with line level signals for input channels 3 and 4 on the Sound Devices 744T digital field recorder. The cable is 48" long and has a pair of 3-pin XLR female connectors at one end and a pair of TA3-F connectors at the other. The connectors are color-coded for easy management.

Q: 7. Can I use a SM58 into my DSLR with this?

A: Yes as long as your camera has a 3.5mm mic input.

Q: 8. Does it accept other V-Mount batteries?

A: We do not recommend using this plate with larger V-Mount Batteries. While the V-Mount connections are the same, the release mechanism may be blocked by a larger battery along with a larger battery not being full supported by such a plate. You really will want to use the Mini Style V-Lok batteries only with this plate.

Q: 9. Is this case waterproof? Can you use it in the rain to protect the Shogun Inferno?

A: Waterproof means a device can be immersed in water, i.e. an underwater device. This case is not waterproof. However since it is made out of ballistic Codura nylon, it is water resistant meaning is can withstand light rain for reasonable lengths of time. Heavy rain for hours no. This pro level and what we would use on set. However, if working in the rain, usually we would set up a tent at least.

Q: 10. Will this work when the Atomos is in the smallrig cage?

A: Looking at a photo of the back of the SmallRig Atomos 7" Monitor Cage, BH #SM2008, we believe this should clear the back and work when used. However we are not aware of this specific combination being tested. You would need to try it out to see the results. https://bit.ly/2oUYl56

[0.23 lb] I have not used Hosa cables in a while. These were a nice surprise. Well made all the way around and they are doing what they are supposed to do.

[0.23 lb] I bought the Atomos XLR breakout cable for use with a Shogun 7 monitor/recorder/switcher. The breakout cable does not come standard with this, nor other compatible Atomos devices. This cable facilitates use of a professional (balanced) audio source at -10 to +4 dB line levels, as well as a balanced, line level output. This signal is automatically synchronized with video recordings from up to four sources (Shogun 7). I normally record using 4-6 microphones, and plan to feed a 2-channel stereo mix to the Shogun.

[0.23 lb] I'm a huge fan of Hosa cables. The price point is spot on, and the quality is as high as any fetishized brand out there. I needed a variety of different cables for wiring my studio and going from my preamp out into my patch bay required just this kind of TRS to XLR male. I'm very happy with my purchase because it was just the right length and price.

[0.23 lb] I'm doing a series of round table discussions around the country with eight talent in each discussion session. Because i'm flying to each location, space and weight are at a premium so I'm using a Zoom F8 mixer, HOSA Little Brother 50-foot sub snake and eight dpa 4061 lavaliere microphones plus accessories and a slate. Everything has to fit in a carry in a small roller case and a small back pack so i don't have to check any bags. I'm using eight of the 10-foot Remote Audio cables to split off from the sub snake to feed the lavalieres. I carry a few-25 foot XLR cables as back up's if I need a little bit more reach. The 10-foot cables made all the difference in the world for space and weight constraints due to air travel. I've used Remote Audio cables for over a decade without a single cable failure. Remote Audio makes them tight and right.

[3.7 oz / 106 g] I use this breakout cable to connect a mixer board or recorder (e.g., Zoom F8) to a Shogun 7, for professional balanced audio, synchronized with video as it is recorded. 3.5 mm TRS connections are too fragile for professional use, and are generally unbalanced.

[3.7 oz / 106 g] Video always lags real time audio by about 1/15 second. You can often ignore it, or delay the audio to eliminate it altogether. The Shogun 7 records up to 4 cameras plus the switched program video. Injecting the sound at this point minimizes the lag. If you do it in a computer, for example, the video latency is not only much greater, but inconsistent depending on the processor and I/O loading. I record separately and sync in post. With this cable, you can use balanced outputs from the mixer, and all the videos are in sync. Thats less work at the bench.
