The 4 x 4" Formatt Hitech Ultra Cinema ND Filter 4x4 1-Stopfrom Formatt Hitech Ultra Cinema ND Filter 4x4 1-Stopuses a rare Earth-mineral coating to create exceedingly neutral NDs. Soft-edge grads are versatile filters used to balance the luminosity of a bright sky with the terrain below. The soft edge makes it easy to place the filter in the scene, especially over undulating horizons (such as mountains). The filters are made from 4mm-thick Schott Superwite glass, and the multicoating is bonded in the middle to increase scratch resistance. Firecrest Filters are neutral across all spectrums, including UV, visible, and infrared.

Firecrest Ultra IRND are carbon-based IRND filters with hyper-neutral color balance which can be used for uniform near infrared filtration allowing your camera's color science to remain untouched. Ultra IRND are equally compatible with ARRI, RED, Blackmagic Design, Canon, Panasonic, and other modern digital cinema cameras allowing the image to be captured as the manufacturer intended.

4mm Cine Firecrest Ultra IRND have the same features of the popular 4mm Cine Firecrest ND. The 4mm Firecrest ND and 4mm Firecrest Ultra IRND both have identical optical performance with the engraving being the only difference.

A: The 85 mm lens has 72 filter size

A: This is not classified as a thin filter.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Canon EF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM lens?

A: Unfortunately the Canon Drop-In Variable ND Filter A (1.5-9 Stop) is not compatible with the 800mm lens. Currently there are no variable ND filter options for the 800mm RF f5.6 lens. You can use a solid ND 52mm using the holder that comes with the 800mm lens.

Q: 6. Does it fit the Cokin P series holder?

A: Yes the Cokin P-series holder fits 84 mm and 85 mm filters.

Q: 7. What is the diameter of the round glass filter in millimeters?

A: The NiSi Cinema True Color 1-5 Stop Variable Neutral Density Filter for C5 Matte Box can be used with 95mm cinema lenses and lenses with filter threads up to 82mm.

Q: 8. hi half the comments say it does X half don't - so which is it ? Yes or No ??

A: Typically most variable nd filters have an x effect and or a color bias when used at the full nd setting. As a rule of thumb, you should stop short of the max and maybe go to about 2 stops lower than the max of the filter. For example if a variable nd filter goes to 10 stops, it would be advisable to shot at 8 stops or below.

Q: 9. HI All Will this filter and the 8x nd viginate on the canon 10-22mm lens? thanks Rich

A: You may experience vignette when stacking this filter with another ND filter on a wide angle lens.

Q: 10. Do normal 77mm lens caps fit on this?

A: No you will need to purchase an 82mm cap.

[0.475 lb] I am a newbie to ND photography and while researching ND filters so many photographers I respected recommended the Firecrest Ultra...and I am very glad I listened to them. I plan on buying the less dense ones too. 5

[7 x 5.8 x 1.2"] I always wondered how to get that creamy effect in a waterfall picture, and this was the answer. Coupled with a good tripod, I can now get some excellent waterfall pictures. 5

[7 x 5.8 x 1.2"] The quality of these filters is outstanding. While they are somewhat expensive, they are worth the price point. The one thing I fail to understand is with the attention to quality and detail the weak link is the installation of the light leak gasket that is included with the filter. It is a challenge to affix it to the filter and have had difficulty with every filter I have from them. I don't know why Formatt-Hitech does not place it on the filter as part of the manufacturing process. 5

[0.475 lb] I have used this filter for my work for two years and it is perfect. I can use it in my Cokin Z-holder but more often than not just hand hold it. It can easily be combined with a CPL or other ND filter to achieve 4-extra stops which help with waterfalls on sunny days, softening clouds, getting a soft ethereal texture from crashing waves and streams. The nice thing about it is that unlike using very high density screw on ND filters which might make it very difficult to see and focus, especially when using slow f/5.6 lens, you can compose, focus, then use the AF button to lock focus, hold the filter over the lens or other filter, then exposure and click. Very simple and effective. I use this filter a lot. I used to own the extremely expensive SR vari-ND but I sold it for this one because 1) it vignettes at wide angles, 2) does not meter properly due to the physics of the design so you must take test shots and use an iterative approach 3) you can easily over dial in the density which results in a 'cross' in the center where the two polarizers meet. You can't see this effect in the viewfinder since it would be too dark but the result is obvious in the LCD screen. Bottom line, it is much faster to use this filter than a vari-ND and since a vari-ND vignettes at ultra wide angles you end up needing two sets of filters which is just a waste of money. I use this filter a lot along with about 10 other filters which I keep in my two filter pouches that include grad-NDs, CPL, and yes, a screw-on 3-stop ND. No color cast, fast and easy to use compared with any alternative, and very affordable. 5

[Glass] For this review of my ND 3.0 filter, 10 stop, I used a tripod, the Nikon MC- 36A remote and the ND Expert Pro app. This was my very first imaging with this filter. What I was looking to see the effect of the filter and what, if any was there a shift in color. As you can see, the color shift was minor. This is a pricey filter, however, it performed as expected. 5

[0.475 lb] I put these firecrest NDs head to head with PolarPros NDs and these are slightly more sharp and higher quality than polar pros. Just holding these in your hand you can feel the quality of the build. Theyre a breeze taking them on and off of the lens as well. Worth the top dollar they are. 5
