[Synthetic] This is the Rolls Royce of Softboxes. After a few weeks of talking myself into it I finally broke down and purchased one, as soon as I assembled it I knew it wasn't going back! It's super light weight yet I can tell from one review that I read before purchasing of a guy saying that he had his Chimera for decades that it was very much possible. The look that it gives is the one from the movies and if you put the right light in it and put it at the proper distance from your subject it's as beautiful as a book light. I will be getting 2 more.

[1 lb] Chimera makes solid soft boxes. This Xsmall is a perfect new little softbox to add to my collection. i have it fit onto a Chimera Speed ring for Paul C Buff Lights and a Lighttools grid that I won in a raffle. Easy to set up and gives awesome light.

[1 lb] These are well made, easy to use, and a ton of fun. I particularly wanted the bubble and flare patterns. This is an easy way to up your creativity - particularly if you have a darker background to use.

[28.5 x 4 x 4"] This is my second most used window pattern from the Chimera Window Patterns Kit. I use it to light boring walls behind talent on interview shoots. I've got to confess I made my own cucoloris pattern using foam board and it looks downright creepy. Boris Karloff sort of stuff. So I broke down and purchased the Chimera patterns. I prefer the larger Chimera patterns when trying to add a splash to walls, the smallest patterns seem better suited to me for extremely small areas. I appreciate and stand behind the Chimera brand for their quality, portability as well as tried and true safety while on location. Great product. Recommended for anybody's kit.

[1 lb] this is a great item for my flash and beats out all the other smaller lightboxes that claim to soften light.

[Synthetic] This was my introduction to proper light modifiers. Coupled with a Canon 580 EXII this softbox provides nice even lighting in a small and durable package. Chimera even sells a kit so that you can use two speedlights. The biggest drawback is really the speed ring because it means that while being very portable it takes more time to set up but the trade-off is a really secure and study product. A great investment and a good (and bad) way to be bitten by the lighting bug.

[1 lb] I really enjoy the textures these masks create. I also bought the MagMod MagBeam Kit, but I've had more fun with the mask patterns in this set, so far.

[28.5 x 4 x 4"] I bought this softbox to allow portability for shooting both nature and portraits outdoors, and I love the flexibility and ease of assembling and transporting it, as well as the performance! Great soft light, and it doesn't cost a fortune. The only negative is the mount to a tripod or remote flash bracket. The screw that holds the box and mounting ring isn't quite sturdy enough to tilt my Canon 580EX flash vertical and hold it in that position.

[Synthetic] I replaced a 30+ year old slighter smaller Chimera soft box. This was a better built product and the recessed front was perfect for more directional lighting & feathering. Used w/Alien Bee 320ws flash unit for outdoor fill lighting for high school senior portraits. Also used indoors as main light for a volley ball team. very nice light and was easy to transport. Most important my investment has been returned within the first photo session. very soft attractive light w/inner baffle allowing for wide open shallow depth of field settings on Canon 7D2 w/85mm f1.8 lens.
