Compact and versatile, the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Silver Lensis a 24-75mm-equivalent zoom designed for DX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras. Covering a wide-angle to portrait-length zoom range, this lens is well-suited to everyday shooting situations. Its optical design incorporates aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements, which help to reduce a variety of aberrations for sharper, clearer image quality throughout the zoom range. A Super Integrated Coating has also been applied to minimize ghosting and flare for increased contrast and color accuracy in bright and backlit conditions.

The lens's flexible focal length range is complemented by Vibration Reduction image stabilization, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for sharper handheld shooting. A stepping motor provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override to suit both stills and video applications. Also, a programmable control ring can be set for intuitive adjustment over a variety of camera and exposure settings.

The classic silver finish matches the retro-styled Z fc camera body.

Standard zoom is designed for DX-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 24-75mm equivalent focal length range.

One extra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

Four aspherical elements minimize spherical aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range for greater sharpness and accurate rendering.

Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Vibration Reduction image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for sharper handheld shooting.

Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.

Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there any fall out issues with the NIKKOR 18-300mm?

A: It is a very good lens. We have had a very good experience taking excellent long distance photographs with this lens. We now own two of them, having replaced a less expensive, similar lens for a second camera with the Nikkor 18-300 mm lens. It is heavier than other brand similar lenses and you may need a tripod at times.

Q: 2. Does it compatible with D610?

A: The lens will function on the D610 BUT, it is a DX lens. On the D610 (FX), it will display a cropped image and will, according to experts, be of lower resolution than an FX lens.

Q: 3. hood recommendation?

A: The lens has a dedicated hood and those are always the best. The Nikon brand hood for that lens is,Nikon HB-39 Bayonet Lens Hood for 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens USAB&H # NIHB39 Mfr # 4944http://bhpho.to/1mOANlAAnd this is a third party version.Vello HB-39 Dedicated Lens HoodB&H # VELHNHB39 Mfr # LHN-HB39http://bhpho.to/1jOUUwW

Q: 4. Hi,is this lens creep?

A: I haven't noticed. Great lens

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with the Nikon F-100?

A: No, it is not. The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens is designed for use with Nikon DSLR cameras that use the smaller APS-C digital sensor. The Nikon F-100 35mm Film SLR camera is a film camera that uses full-frame 35mm film. Nikon DX lenses are not compatible for use with Nikon's 35mm film SLR cameras, and should not be used. The smaller imaging circle of the lens would not fully cover the larger 35mm film, and as such, there would be a large, dark circular vignette area on the negative where the smaller imaging circle on the DX lens blocks light from exposing the outer edge of your film. You also do not want to run the chance of damaging either the lens, the internal reflexing mirror, or both when attempting to use a DX lens on the 35mm film SLR camera.

Q: 6. hello, Will this lens work on a D7500?.. thank you

A: Yes, it will work very well on the D7500.

Q: 7. Hi,is this lens with internal focus or the front element rotate?Thank you!

A: It has internal auto focus as long as your camera supports. The front element rotates for zooming.

Q: 8. D5100 compatible?

A: Yes. This lens is compatible with all APS-C (DX) format cameras including the Nikon D5100.

Q: 9. Can this lens be used on the Z6 or Z7? Perhaps set to DX image area?

A: Yes, you can use this on a Z6 or Z7 but in crop mode and 40% resolution.

Q: 10. If I pair this lens with the D7200 will be work for action pics?

A: You could use it for action shots but as an all in one lens with a slow aperture, it would not be ideal. A telephoto lens that starts at 70mm or so would be better, like a Nikon 70-300mm.

[0.64 lb] This lens is a very good lens for an inexpensive portable photo setup, including macro photography, such as flowers. Unfortunately, if you buy a standard led macro ring light, the smallest adapter ring is 49mm, while the thread on the lens is only 46mm. To solve this problem you need to buy a step-up adapter from 46mm to 49 or the next step up for the larger ring.

[Autofocus] While the lens is not as fast as the 24-70mm f4 kit lens or the F2.8 24-70mm it is a great option for when you want to travel lite.

Using this on the z7 will mean you operate much like the Z50 with just 20 megapixels. But that is great when you need to pack lite.

[83° to 31° 30'] Originally designed for the Z50, this lens is what anyone who orders it would expect... low weight and small size. I use it on a Z7 which automatically switches the camera to DX mode... still 19 mpx to play with! One problem though was that the VR didn't seem to work. Before returning or exchanging it however I checked for updates and sure enough the most recent update (v. 2.1) corrects this very issue and the VR now works great! Hope this helps someone who ran into the same problem. As for the lens itself, it seems clear at all settings but it is not the best choice for low light situations. But for $300, how can you go wrong?

[Nikon Z] For its purpose, which is as a super-compact and light partner for the Z50, I have found it to be just about perfect. I was initially reluctant to go Z50 + this lens for a compact travel camera for a two reasons based on the lens (others based on the camera). First, I was irritated at the choice of f/6.3 for maximum aperture at the tele end. Second, I was irritated at 50mm for the maximum tele focal length. (Of course, what I thought I wanted would have made this lens much bigger and heavier and the combination more cumbersome, not the compact carry-around that it is.)

In use, it has turned out to be a very nice combination suiting my basic objective of having a small and light carry-around camera that takes decent travel photos without worrying about carrying a lot of kit around. So I'm not deducting stars for those shortcomings.

The camera is amazingly tiny and light yet easy to use with ample controls, and the lens is a great partner for it. It goes to 16mm, which covers most of my carry-around needs for wide shooting for interiors, urban spaces and whatever comes up traveling. The sensitivity of the sensor means it's perfectly usable indoors, even at f/6.3. At 100% enlargement, the images are sharp and contrasty, pretty much to the corners. The camera EVF is a real pleasure to use. So the fact that the camera exceeded my expectations, and I don't need to swap lenses to meet its intended purpose, makes Nikon's compromises appropriate to what I really most wanted in this combination. Quite pleased. When I want more capability for more demanding shots, I have the option to schlepp around the D500 and D810 with a range of excellent lenses - almost any camera and lens combo of which weighs in at at least 3x as much.

[83° to 31° 30'] I first bought this lens for a trip to Italy. The wife said I wasn't carrying a bag full of equipment through Italy and I said, Okay, but it will cost you a new lens. This was the lens. And that was 8 years ago.

Since then, I've used it every day. I'd fuss about it sometimes -- it is slow. Nobody gets excited about a does-it-all lens but...it does do it all. And seeing as my knees won't let me carry 3 lens and 2 camera bodies anymore, I really can't live without it.

You can imagine how beat up it is after 8 years of every-day use. It has to go to the shop. And I really can't imagine living without it. So I just bought another one. The exact same lens, so I can send the old one off for a refurb and (don't tell the wife) I'll have a spare to ship over to my friend's house for our next trip.

[83° to 31° 30'] This is a replacement for the very same lens I purchased about 10 years ago. Now I'm not a professional level photographer, but this lens fits my every need as I shoot on my morning ventures or when traveling. That's why I purchased the very same edition. Not much more to say. The service is great at B&H. That is all.

[4.9 x 4.9 x 4"] I am doing a hike thorugh Yellowstone in September. I was going to carry a heavier lens with less reach when I saw this one. It is working fine and I am very happy with it.

[Autofocus] It's got a great range. It's got VR. It's as small as it can be. And the image quality rocks. A near-perfect all-a rounder.
