Darkening the image makes it possible to increase camera shutter speeds for added blur or for increased control over depth of field when shooting in bright light conditions. The filter is made of optical glass and features a combination of 16-layer multicoating for reduced glare, plus resistance coating that resists abrasions, dust, oil, and fingerprints for easy cleaning.

The included magnetic adapter ring lets the filter to be attached or removed in just seconds and allows up to four magnetic filters to be stacked. The magnetic ring accepts standard 77mm lens caps, so it can be left on the lens all the time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hi, just wondering if this or any other 40.5mm ND filters are able to be used with the Nikon 1 J5 10-30mm kit lens??

A: Yes, I am using it on my lenses for my Nikon 1 1V with no problems as it is a standard lens filter threads.

Q: 2. Do I have to buy 2 to fit one on the lens and one on the filter ?

A: If you're using the Kase Wolverine filters, those filters are already magnetic so you'd just need them for your lens.

Q: 3. What comes with magnetic adapter ring, one ring magnetic for lens and filter? Can I but another ring for filter. Can I used my lens cap?

A: It only includes the adapter ring in the box. You will need to purchase a magnetic filter and a magnetic lens cap to use with this. If your lens cap is not magnetic it won't work unfortunately.

Q: 4. Hi, Did you notice color casting or shifting using this filter on long exposures (e.g. 20-30 )?I wonder if there's any difference in THAT regard with the MRC version?(B+W - 77mm 3.0 ND MRC 110M Filter - which is much more expensive..)Thank you!!

A: Hey Pablo, sorry for the delay in replying, I've been away. Yes, I found I need to cool it by about 700 degrees..Peter

Q: 5. Do i screw in my regular ND filters and the attached the two to the magnetic ring that is screwed into the lens?

A: The Sensei 77mm Magnetic Filter Adapter Ring turns a threaded 77mm filter into a magnetic filter. You do need the Sensei 77mm Magnetic Lens Adapter Ring, BH #SEMLR77, on the lens.

Q: 6. What is the difference between the Black Magic, Black Mist and the White Mist Filters? I would be using them for Landscape Photo

A: None of these are intended for landscape photos. The black magic is for reducing blemishes and wrinkles while maintaining overall sharpness. The black mist helps to reduce the value of the highlights while slightly lowering the overall contrast, useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. It adds a pastel, cinematic tone to still and video images. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, mist filters provide little loss of detail. across the image. The white mist is well-suited for portraiture applications. In addition to the softer appearance, this filter's white sheen also works to create a glowing quality to strong highlights for an ethereal and dreamy quality.

Q: 7. Will a lens hood still fit while using this filter? For example, the Nikon 24-70 uses the HB-87 lens hood. Will it fit?

A: Yes, the Nikon HB-87 Bayonet Lens Hood will fit with the Freewell M2 Magnetic Quick Swap ND1000 Filter (82mm, 10-Stop) is on the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens.

Q: 8. Do these work with the Xume system? Those seem discontinued?

A: The Kase Wolverine Magnetic Filter Adapter Ring has not been tested specifically with the Xume filter system, so the results may vary when using them together.

Q: 9. Will it open up to almost clear? If not whats the lightest it goes?

A: It's black glass and that's that. Do all your camera settings first. Then add the ND filter and take the shot.

Q: 10. Will the lens cap work with the Xume system?

A: Yes, the Ice Magco 77mm Magnetic Lens Cap Set will work with matching sized Xume systems.

[Aluminum] A really good value for the quality of the filters and glass. A very useful kit if you're in need of ND filters. Good construction and very clear glass with no noticeable distortion. Good color balance and no glare. Worth the money!

[Solid ND] I installed this on my Canon 16-35 lens for the eclipse on April 8th. The magnetic interface makes it easy to remove and replace on the lens while keeping it securely in place during shooting.

[Aluminum] My first set of ND filters, and I've only used them to fool around and get used to the idea. So far, they are easy to use, and come in a nice pouch. Have to solve the problem of how to carry them around in dusty Arizona - the pouch has netting, which is not enough, really. I've got to look for a proper pouch for these and the step up rings I bought at the same time.

[0.145 lb] I intend to use this for the 204 solar eclipse. In the meantime, I can get nice shots of the sun's surface through my Canon mirrorless camera. I believe you should not use this to look directly at the sun, but through the mirrorless, no issues! I like the way the filter attaches via to the magnetic ring.

[Aluminum] I previously purchased an "all in one" type of variable ND filter which proved to be unsuitable. These filters are even edge-to-edge and consistent in their density. The ability to combine them in a stack to make combinations depending on the light and exposure needs is outstanding. The threads are precise and accurate and they screw on and off easily.

[Solid ND] It makes the image a little dirtier/grainier than Tiffen, but unless you're trying to match interview A cam and B cam, I'm surprisingly happy with them.
