The AJA OpenGear 2-Channel Fiber to 12G-SDI Receiveris an openGear-compatible, 2-channel Fiber to 12G-SDI converter, enabling 12G-SDI signals to be extended up to 32,808' over a standard single mode fiber optic cable. The two fiber inputs are completely independent, allowing different 12G-SDI rates to be carried on each channel.

It is designed for use in high-density openGear 2 RU frames, including AJA's OG-X-FR frame, with industry-standard DashBoard software support on Windows, macOS, and Linux, offering remote control and monitoring over a PC or local network.

A: How many inputs and outputs you need would be a big factor. This is a 32x32 12G-SDI option. BH #BLSVH12G4040 is a 40x40 12G-SDI option.

Q: 9. Will it down convert two separate 6G SDI inputs into two separate 3G SDI outputs? What about four to four of the same scenario?

A: No, the AJA 12GM 12G-SDI to/from SDI Muxer/DeMuxer reclocks signals and does not convert down or up. You will need an AJA UDC Up/Down/Cross Converter which handles one signal at a time.

Q: 10. Can it switch SDI standards other than 12-G also?

A: Normally, 12G-SDI gear is backwards compatible with 3G-SDI & 6G-SDI, but AJA specifically designed other matrix switchers for that purpose, as follows: For 12G-SDI, look to KUMO 6464-12G for 64x 12G-SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 3232-12G for 32x 12G-SDI inputs and outputs or KUMO 1616-12G for 16x 12G-SDI inputs and outputs. For 3G-SDI, KUMO 6464 offers 64x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 3232 has 32x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 1616 has 16x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs and KUMO 1604 provides 16x 3G-SDI inputs and 4x 3G-SDI outputs.

[1.06 lb] I've come to expect well-made devices from AJA and the KUMO doesn't disappoint. Connectors are sturdy and well-spaced for easy access. I am using this unit to push video to several locations from four cameras we use for beauty shots. The GUI is simple yet provides all the features you would need in a router. I only had to crack open the manual once to set up a static IP. 5

[1.06 lb] Basically in this price range it comes down to AJA or BlackMagic, I've worked with both & knowing that AJA tends to be a bit pricier, I 100% prefer the KUMO over the BMD 20x20 or 40x40 Physically the SDI connectors are spaced well versus BlackMagic, even with all connections loaded up I can quickly adjust by hand without the need of a trompeter if the situation arises. The Kumo is also way thinner & operates at a much lower temp, giving me a little peace of mind if I need to spec a quick fly pack that has less than optimal ventilation. The web UI is great & the unit saves all your settings independently of what computer you are using over the network. I know I can prep the KUMO for a gig, send it out & all my button mapping & labels will not change no matter who is looking at it or what computer they are using (unlike the BMD which is a session based setting via saved XML file). Basically its a solid router, if you can afford it & it has the # of ins/outs ya need. You can't go wrong. 5

[1.06 lb] great compact switcher, the web gui is fantastic- it's not needed to be rebooted or have I had a loss of control in any way. very clean switching with an option for redundant power. If I need another, I'd chose this again without hesitation. 5

[1.06 lb] As a key component to route on the fly- AJA delivers with this one. Well worth the investment. Note I don't think they make the grey front anymore. The router I received has a blue stripe and larger logo screen printed on the front. 5

[1.06 lb] The signal quality out of the T-Tap pro is outstanding -- nice to not worry about Quicktime playback gamma issues anymore. And Aja tech support is second to none. Just like a pro device should be. One thing to note is that playback through the T-Tap pro must be via compatible software e.g, Adobe Premier, or by using the Aja Control Room player software. This is not like having a another monitor on your Mac -- you can not stream videos from Safari through it or simply use the Quicktime player app with it. 5

[1.06 lb] After a really long search I finally found a box that will allow me to run GoPros over a long 50 foot SDI cable at 1080p 30 and 60 fps for live streaming. The ATEM did not want to except the Go Pro over HDMI cat 5 extender or AVUE hdmi to sdi converter. I believe it goes into the ATEM at 1080i from the AJA which is why the others were not working as they ouput 1080p though I can't really put my finger on it as my Nikon D5200 worked with the other boxes just not the Go Pro, but HURRAY IT WORKS!!!! I am wondering if Go Pros work with the new Black Magic 4k HDMI to SDI mini converter and the ATEM TV as I don't think they work with the older Black Magic converter going into a ATEM TV, they are a bit cheaper than the AJA. Please let me know if anyone has tested a GO PRO and the Black Magic 4k miniconverter HDMI to SDI converter into the ATEM TV. Cheers! 5
