The matte gray MK2 Microphone Capsule from Schoeps comes as a matched pair, and has a flat frequency response for frontal sound incidence. This yields a very natural sound when recordings are made within the reverberation radius, where the direct sound (frontal incidence) predominates over the reverberant sound (random angles of incidence).

This capsule is often used for acoustical measurement, an application for which it has gained a considerable reputation.

A: Hi Alex, I just saw your question regarding the Phillips screw on the side of the CEntrance PivotMic PM1 XY Stereo Condenser Recording Microphones. The screw is used in assembly to secure the mic's internal components to the housing and to keep the 3-pin connector in place. The XLR connector cannot be rotated inside of the housing. The screw should not be removed.

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] I'm using the MK8 with a Schoeps miniCMIT for my M/S setup and I'm extremely pleased with my field recording and SFX results. I wouldn't trade this for anything. 5

[0.6 oz (17.0 g)] With the pair of microphones mounted on the stereo bar I was able to easily capture a conversation of two documentary subjects, avoiding the hassle of panning a single shotgun mic or fussing with lav mics. The sound quality in the recording was lovely, and the convenience of mounting the mics next to each other and directed toward the subjects was phenomenal. This setup opens up many possibilities at a modest price. My first real-world use case was a resounding success. 5

[0.3 lb] I'm using this with a CMC6 and a CMIT5U for an M/S rig. I know there has been some debate on Gearslutz regarding Schoeps vs Sennheiser for this application but to my ears, the sound is great. Gives me an accurate and clear reproduction of the sounds being recorded. It's pricey but I'm not afraid to pay for the results that I get using this gear. 5

[0.3 lb] While it took 11 weeks for them to arrive (due to Covid), I am very pleased to have this matched pair. They are great as a main pickup or for spot mic'ing. When neither a cardioid or an omni capsule will do, this is the perfect choice. 5

[0.3 lb] I already own an mk4, and I wanted to get a second mk4 so I could record a stereo pair for piano and acoustic guitar and it sounds so good. The mk4 I already own, I've had for about 4 years now, and it's my go to mic for everything -- strings, piano, guitar, voice. I have tried many many mics above and below this price point and to my ears, none sound as natural. I rarely need EQ when using schoeps mics. It also matches my other mk4 perfectly. Very happy with the purchase. Also B+H customer service was great and the capsule arrived quickly. 5

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] These Rode M5 compact microphones are way more than awesome!! They are not what I expected but they were much much more. I just received them last week and have already used them on a filming job of a choir. When I did a run thru very first time with the choir last Thursday I had my headphones on just making the necessary audio adjustments and my other videographer on camera #2 looked at me from across the room where he was running his camera and said Looks like you are happy about something!! I bet it's those new Rode mics!! Never seen you with a smile like that in a long time!!! I just gave him a thumbs up and was totally way overwhelmed. The sound is what I would expect from a $2,000 plus microphone. Anyway, this is a MUST BUY and you probably better buy quickly from B&H because the pricing on this won't stay this cheap for long. 5
