Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible with Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens?

A: Yes, the Godox MF12 Dental Macro Flash with Bracket Kit for Sony Cameras is compatible with the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens. The flash comes with the appropriate 62mm adapter ring.

Q: 2. What triggers the flashes?

A: A transmitter such as this one for Canon would be needed: https://bhpho.to/3s5aqRL but you should choose a Nikon transmitter if you are shooting with a Nikon camera or a different version depending on the brand or your camera.

Q: 3. is it a strong enough light source for portrait photography?

A: No, I would suggest a ring light that offers a higher output then the following unit. please look into the following unit https://bhpho.to/3iM8z0R

Q: 4. Will it be possible to use it in TTL mode on a Pentax camera?

A: This flash is part of a macro ring flash set from Godox. The flashes do not directly sit in the hot shoe. They connect to a ring that goes on the end of the lens. Because of this you need a wireless transmitter to control them. This is the Godox transmitter for Pentax: https://bhpho.to/2UcWit9 It will allow TTL.

Q: 5. Does it have high speed sync?

A: Godox does not list any information that the Godox MF12 Macro Flash supports High Speed Sync.

Q: 6. Does in Include 8 adapter rings as shown in the associated pic?

A: The Godox Mounting Ring for MF12 Macro Flash does not include the threaded adapter rings. Here is the kit for the threaded adapter rings: https://bhpho.to/2Ub7lTB

Q: 7. Can I mount these flashes on a tripod mount?

A: The Godox MF12 Macro Flash (2-Pack) comes with 2 flash stands that have a 1/4-20 mount so they can be used on a tripod or light stand.

Q: 8. I've lost the original cables. Is there anything special about those cables for recharging?

A: Any USB Type-C Cable can be used to charge the Godox MF12 Macro Flash 2-Light Kit.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Leica cl?

A: You would need to add the trigger to the camera. Godox does not make a Leica version but you can use this one for Canon in manual mode only. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1468006-REG/godox_x2tc_x2_2_4_ghz_ttl.html

[0.14 lb] I have purchased a different brand of generic flash, but this one has proven to be the best onefar. It holds the charge for a long time, and the adaptors that came with the flash make it worthwhile for any purpose. I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it.

[0.14 lb] These little usb chargable flashes are in my huge location lighting kit. I use them for complex environmental portraits and shooting rooms or other indoor environments in specific cases.

Specifically they come in most handy when i want to throw a tiny amount of light onto something in a scene but there is no other way to get a light stand or strobe in that spot. They can be hidden within the scene and can put little pockets of light hard to light spots.

My favorite use is inside lamp shades with a 1/2 or full CTO gel. When i am using my own flashes to light an environment and i want a lamp to still appear as if it is "turned on" I can just tape one of these inside the lamp shade.

The little stem also has a 1/4 20 socket on the bottom so you can screw them onto lightstands, or studs or clamps as well if you want.

Haven't used them a single time for close up macro work but they are a great little tool to keep in your bag for creative problem solving.

[0.14 lb] Very well-made product form Godox specifically made for the MF12 Macro Flash. Easy to install and remove from the flash head. Very satisfy with the cold shoe adapter.

[0.14 lb] Let me preface the review by stating I hate the Nikon R1C1 system because the flashes always had problems and it grossly overpriced. My Bolt VM-160 ringlight served me well but I was never happy with the quality of light but for the price, as I said, it served me well. This MF12 system is a macro dream. The flashes are rechargable which I didn't think would be good but can easily handle 300-500 shots which is a standard macro outing. I can't praise this system enough. It is the best I've used yet.

[0.14 lb] First, I want to say that I have had no issues like a couple of the reviews have stated with regards to the mounting ring. It mounts securely to the filter adapter ring (which is a slip on fit, not threaded like one review mentions), and the flashes themselves can be positioned in any of the 24 locking detents by releasing with the push buttons, moving to the new location and letting it snap into place. I have attached a photo of them in a non-balanced position to show them locked in place.

I have to think the two reviews that mention this have installed their mounting ring incorrectly.

The flashes are responsive and work great with any Godox wireless trigger, and can be set to manual or TTL, and biased with flash exposure compensation for each flash. In my limited testing with them so far, the flashes have fired every time, with good power and repeatable exposure. The built-in diffusers help a bit, but they are still fairly small light sources. As such, you will probably want to rig up some extra diffusion for the best lighting. Overall, given the price of the kit, the ease of repositioning flashes and the quality of light, it's really hard to beat. Most macro flashes of this type are significantly more expensive and also more cumbersome due to the wired nature. This can also integrate seamlessly into your other Godox lights, which can be great if using another flash for a background light or rim light.

I wish the native diffusers were a little larger, and perhaps that the batteries were replaceable, as you may be stuck in the field if you run out of battery, though the battery life is quoted to be pretty good. However, for the price it's hard to nitpick.

[0.14 lb] At the recommendation of other macro photographers, I bought this kit. It's very well designed and built. It's so lightweight that I can continue to shoot handheld for long periods of time. The flash units recharge over USB-C and hold a charge for a very long time. They're so powerful that I use them on Manual mode and dial their power way back.

[0.14 lb] Godox Mf12 macro flashes are FABULOUS!!!!! I shoot macro exclusively and the Godox macro flash kit provides SHADOW FREE stacks with accurate color and white balance . One flash unit set at the one o'clock ring position and the other set at the ten o'clock position - 1/16 manual power. Easy set-up and, once synced with my Godox XPROC trigger, perfect flashes every time.

[0.14 lb] This kit is very competitively priced for all it includes. The gear appears stout and it is super easy to operate the flash units. I'm having a lot of macro fun with the kit! I've paired the kit with the Godox X2 wireless trigger and I can recommend that product highly, as well (a compatible trigger is necessary to operate the flash units.

[0.14 lb] A bit of a learning curve when using the XProN controller, but these guys work well. I recommend non-recyclable batteries though. My tests show they are much more reliable than recycles (though I hate to admit it).
