Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this mount onto the Lumix G9?

A: Yes, the Lumix G9 will adapt to the Mitakon zhongyi speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 which is a micro four thirds lens.

Q: 2. What is the outer diameter of the front of the lens? What clip on mattebox size would fit?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20, 35 & 50mm T1 Cine 3-Lens Bundle (Canon RF) is a set of three lenses, the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20mm T1, Mitakon Zhongyi 35mm T1.0, and the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 50mm T1. All three lenses have the same 77mm front filter thread size, and the outer diameter of the lenses is 88 mm.

Q: 3. Is 88mm the front diameter or another diameter measurement?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20mm T1 Cine Lens's front diameter, as quoted by the manufacturer is 88mm.

Q: 4. Will this work with Canon M50 (mirrorless) or Canon 5DS (USA version)?

A: I am only using it with Panasonic cameras.

Q: 5. Does this lens come with a hard case in the box?

A: Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20mm T1 Cine Lens (Nikon Z) comes on a hard leather case with internal customized hard foam.

Q: 6. Does it have auto-iris? That is, can I focus with the lens wide open, even if the camera is set to shoot at (say) f/2.8? I had some old manual lenses that need to be stopped down manually after focusing wide open. Is this one of those?

A: No, there is no auto iris functionality on this lens. You probably would not need it as the m43 cameras EVF should auto gain to the point you can see the correct exposure. This should aid in proper use of peaking and magnification for the manual focus confirmation.

Q: 7. How sharp is this lens full opened?

A: When you have it wide open (T1-1.4) it will feel more like a vintage lens. It will be ok in terms of sharpness and have low contrast. Around T2 you will notice that it will get more contrast and get sharper. The lens performs its best in regards to sharpness and contrast between T4 and T5.6.

Q: 8. Where is this lens build?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 9. I can't find any 88mm clip on MB adapters from ARRI. Is there any other alternative to use these with the LMB?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20, 35 & 50mm T1 Cine 3-Lens Bundle (Canon RF) have 77mm filter threads, the front diameter is 88mm, but this doesn't mean you need an 88mm clip necessarily, just 77mm.

Q: 10. Is it plastic or metal?

A: Metal, and quite a heavy lens too. It's twice as heavy as my tiny Lumix GM1 camera, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to use!

[T1] Lens build is solid and works well. Some focus breathing, but everything else is rad

[MFT] Just have to say this is an incredible lens. First one I received did not have the proper line on it, second one was absolutely perfect and the focus distance markings were exact. Years ago it would have been impossible to buy a lens like this for less than 30k, or 10k. Look up some videos on it to confirm how incredible it is. Large format look on an S35 sensor. Great feeling quality. I have used 50k Cooke lenses, this is a great quality lens from Mitakon.

[25mm] I bought this lens for my Blackmagic 4K, and I love the quality footage it produces. You can't beat the price for such a fast cine lens! It's well-built, too.

[T16] I read a lot of bad reviews. My experience is that this lens is great!! Yes, the T.1 is soft, but I always use a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1 Filter for my films. So, to me, I enjoy that characteristic of a softer look at T.1. I have also seen reviews saying that chromatic aberration is too much. To me, people in post-production that I work with, spend tons of money on plugins to emulate that characteristic alone. So, to have it in lens already is pretty dope. ALso, this lens comes with a awesome hard case!

The manual focus is no problem for me personally. I have honestly never truly used autofocus much at all in my career. The lens is on the heavier side. Personally, I am very active (I work out, play basketball, and golf) so holding this 4Ib lens vs a 2.5Ib lens from Sigma is virtually the same for me.

The focus without a focus puller is very smooth. If you use manual focus already and don't use / own a focus puller, then you won't need one with this lens in my opinion. My hands are small, and I can still focus relatively easily with my hands alone. Now, I did buy this lens new and not used. So that may be why there are bad reviews regarding the focus.

Overall to have a T.1 is unbeatable to me. Yes, the image is softer but that's why we have post-production (color grading in Davinci). This lens has a character that is hard to reproduce in post-production. I look at the cons as a win as a creator!

[1.92 lb] I bought the first Mitakon RF 35mm and I loved the look with soft, warm, quasi-vintage vibe and delightful bokeh. When the V2 came out with the 20mm and 50mm, I've decided to get them all for a complete set. The breathing is not prominent and the look is truly remarkable. I'd love to see a wider and a longer lens added to the set.

[25mm] This is one of the best cine lenses that I've used. It is soft wide open but gives you a good halation effect when shooting indoors especially when you're using practical lights like lamps fairies small accent LEDs. For the price it offers quite a bit of amazing features one of them is zero breathing. I am waiting for a wide angle version of this lens may be a 25 mm or 24 mm to add to my collection. The build quality is on par with that of the Zeiss. It is quite heavy but I do like the heft it keeps my camera stable. Right now I use it on my red dragon as well as my black magic pocket cinema camera. This is a great investment.
