Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.

The dual cooling fans are rated at a max noise level of 17 dB for unobtrusive operation.

Supporting power-hungry non-GPU PCIe cards including AVID HDX cards, this module utilizes a built in 400W power supply. Need more juice? Use the auxiliary connector with an optional external power source for an additional 75W. This enclosure is designed to power on and off along with your connected computer.

[Up to 2750 MB/s] got it to replace a long succession of usb-c TH hubs, simply robust, no BS, works great and represents a maturity in this sort of thing
Since 2018 I have tried all sorts of hubs for my macbook pros and macbook airs and they have all flaked out [I don't know...maybe since they ran hot and slowly cooked their components, or bad design or what, but Sonnet and CalDigit seem to be like the Grass Valley
workhorses of yesteryear
it has a flat stable shape that gives it solid attachment

[400 W] I use a TB hub to connect a couple JBOD enclosures and a display to my Mac Studio. I was having annoying disk disappearing issues with the Elements TB4 hub and replaced it with this Sonnet. It may be a little slower but has been solid/reliable and doesn't run nearly as hot.

[7.55 lb] If you have a bunch of SSDs and want to attach to your Mac, this is the way to go. It's active and doesn't hinder performance of your drives.
Easy setup, comes with Thunderbolt cable so it's all ready to go out the box.

[Up to 2750 MB/s] I needed a powered Thunderbolt hub for my M1 Mac Mini. This one fit the space I had and seemed perfect.

I have three 2TB SSDs in my recording setup. They're not Thunderbolt, but USB-3, Gen 2. They ran fine through an unpowered USB-C hub, but this hub seems at least twice as fast. Instruments that took up to a minute load in Kontakt now load in a few seconds. No stutters or other issues so far. Hopefully it will last a long time.

The overall size is perfect, but the design should have been thought through a little better. I wish the power supply port and main port were on one of the ends though. Having everything on one side would have been even better. It's intrusive in it's current location and cables stick out from both sides making it a little cumbersome to setup. Those are minor issues though since it has greatly improved my workflow.

[Up to 2750 MB/s] The fan is still a bit loud even though they have the new fans in there, probably because our studio is very very quiet, still think its overpriced, as these guys have monopoly on the market, it never goes on sale but does the job. If you moving from old mac tower to, new mac, studio, or laptop, you had pcie cards in the old one, then you need this unit, it 3 slots, check the size of your card on their site to make sure it is compatible. RME, Universal Audio, Protools all work.
